(it's this one-level with a porch/deck on top instead of a roof. it was like having your house be a screened-in patio with a deck above it...) lots of pretty greenery, flowers, bushes, fence around it (the diamond-wire kind) and a dog that was black and white and looked just like my dog (which all of you know what looks like, of course. =P) it's a smaller-sized place on the corner of a street with no neighbors behind it, just another street. directly across from it is a whole load of trees. this is where the bus stops to let kids off of the bus. (this is where it gets blurry) a kid gets off the bus, and as the "video" is going along it's kinda half following this kid and half showing you the area this house is in. strange, i know. anyways, so this kid starts for that screen-porch house on the end because the gate it open. the gate is usually never open at the house, because the dog would run away. so the kid (who's point of view was sometimes first person (as in, me) and sometimes third-person) walks slowly up to the gate, where the dog comes up to him/her. so she/he walks up the steps that are on the side of the house not facing the trees.the camera is following behind this persons head the whole time, and the walk up the steps is in kinda slow-motion. it's also kinda grainy, like any typical horror scene type fright-feeling effect. ya know? =) the person stops abruptly at the top of the steps and the camera freezes for like 3 seconds, letting you know something is wrong on this deck thing. the kid then turns, whitefaced and open-mouthed, and goes flying down the stairs. some shots are in slow-mo, some are in regular-mo. then the camera flashes to what the problem is. but it's an ariel view of the kid dashing from the property and you see this figure laying on the ground on the deck. zoom in now to see that it is chris himself. he is lying on the deck, between a white plastic table and lounge chair with tube-shaped legs and arms and stuff. they have those mesh seats that always get soaked with water in the rain and you always forget cause they look dry then sit down and get all wet shorts. =) there is a glass of red wine spilled over on the ground, and the bottle and another glass on the table. he looks peaceful (for lack of a better word), hair touseled in the wolf-boy manner, black shirt (like on SNL) unbuttoned and hanging open, arms and legs sprawled everywhere. he is dead. the camera flashes away to a far away ground view of the house, all mottled and grainy in a unsolved mysteries/horror scene type way again. (forgive my run-of-the-mill effects in the dream) a single sentence comes up, vauge and white text, "Chris Cornell and three others found dead later this afternoon...." as if a Mtv update or something. it fades out (the whole screen) as the song ends. weird, eh? i think i made the connection that the fact that chris and *3* others were found dead was the death of soundgarden, and because i believe SUnshower to be about that subject. this is just some weird gruesome thing my midn came up with. =) don't worry, it's pretty pale for some of my dreams. last night Godzilla ate my family, house, and pool while me, my dad, and my grandmother drove away and left everyone else to the beast. nice huh? let me know what you think of this though,..... mind riot _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. (not that they necessarily wanted in..) it's out there.. but what of the lyrics? i know alot of people sing along, unconcerned.. and that's fine, but i've been thinking about them.. i'm in a mood where i think i can relate to these lyrics - if they are following along the lines of the thoughts i have.. so far i have left the interpretation as fairly simplistic.. the specific words (ie. Lies has more than one meaning) could be explored a hell of alot further.. i don't want to be that precise.. i think for this particular song, it loses it's feel.. but i'd be glad for any input.. :) " In my eyes / Indisposed / In disguise / As no one knows / Hides the face / Lies the snake.." Now, i realise that my desire to interpret this may have hurt me hehehe i may seem way off track to some of you, but i dare you to come up with something else.. perhaps this has been done before and i'm not aware of it? i remember reading a quote from Chris saying that BHS is a very sad song and everyone seems to think it's happy-go-lucky cos of the video.. i wonder if my interp would fit.... well.. i need sleep.. night.. He was a good guy, but now he's gone and now the grieving individual (the slithering snake from the beginning) is all alone & fears the rest of his life will take forever. (for obvious reasons) do you think th e two songs are on the same wavelength this way? You don't really feel like a young & full of energy kid when it's cold .. you just wanna snuggle up in a warm blanket and read a book or something.. like an old person :) that's where the weariness comes from, for me.. but nevertheless i t fits! if i wasn't skeptical about this particular topic being used, i would agree with you.. "Times are... far too long for snakes." Sounds cool, but I doubt it means anything. To me, the whole song is just a vibe... A lot of times you *can* figure out some of what Chris' puzzling lyrics mean, but in this song there are too many cases where lines just sound cool and don't really fit into a scheme or seem to send a message. Some of the lyrics fit together like "stuttering, cold and damp" but mostly the lyrics just seem to fit into the kind of "painting with words" that Chris mentioned in an interview. I've had this thought too, Bill.. but at the moment that i tried to interpret it, it felt like it was more than just cool-sounding words mixed in an interesting way.. i guess that's what Soundgarden does to you.. it can mean different things to you at different times..Years ago i would be on the sexual interpretation bandwagon, but i think i would prefer it to be much more than that.. how could someone put so much passion and energy and slight sadness into their vocals if it was "let's talk dirty but try to hide it with ambiguious phrases"? Note towards the end where Chris says "black hole sun....won't you come.. black hole sun! black hole sun! won't you ccccoooommmmmme".. i dunno. i don't think you can fake that kind of sound..
