Bbeanie Babies (Y'know, those really annoying popular bean bags things shaped like animals that can sometimes sell for thousands of $s) have birthdays. So I was looking through my stepdad's catalouge, and found that Chris shares his birthday with "Weenie the Weenie Dog"!! :) Also, Matt shares his with "Teddy Brown". :) No Bbeanie Baby has been "born" on Ben or Kim's bday, yet... Like I said, pointless, yet fun. :) pUnKy ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 May 1998 17:10:49 -0400 From: El Conspiraco Subject: Coolness.. Hey there, You know what'd be really cool? If someone from Silver Management or = someone from the inside, could leak to us some more info on Chris's new = album and rumoured tour with PJ. Or maybe Chris can get the internet or something and somehow get on the list, and weekly, he'd = be involved with the fans, answering, questions via e-mail, getting them = to listen to new tracks, getting opinions from us. Because, I consider = us SOMMSters to greatly appreciate and respect Soundgarden's music and = themselves in general, and I think something like this would greatly = improve relations between us two mediums. Besides, it add's spark to the = topic's that we've been getting lately, like PJ "Sommsfests" and Beenie = Baby birthdays...so...maybe the person reading SOMMS mails could contact = Chris and ask if he'd like to get involved with us somehow...of course, = I could be blatently turned down, but I'm just suggessting some ideas. If someone from Silver Management or someone f rom the inside, could leak to us some more info on Chris's new album and rumoure d tour with PJ. okay now of all the time i've been on the list, never have i heard anything so s tupid and pathetic.. what do you need to know that isn't already out in public? why don't you just wait and see what happens? how boring if you knew all the tra cks on the album; the setlist of the PJ shows and who was supporting them; etc e tci don't think using Silver Management would even be a solution to your curiosi ty.. whatever.. if 'someone from the inside' leaked to us, what would be the poi nt of keeping it secret in the first place?? do you know how many people are on this list? do you know how many people could call up radio stations and tell the m? do you know how many people radio stations have as their audience? bah... > Or maybe Chris can get > the internet or something and somehow get on the list, and weekly, he'd be inv olved with the fans, answering, questions via e-mail, getting them to listen to new tracks, getting opinions from us. It's a nice dream.. but i doubt anyone would do that and not get paid.. maybe if he really liked his fans, sure.. but wouldn't answering the same stupid questio ns over and over get to you after awhile? (it's JOHN for crying out loud!!!!) I think he pays for someone to listen to his tracks and to get opinions of them an yway.. he probably doesn't even have tracklists and other details sorted out.. w hy would you want to put pressure on him like that? if you get a response "chris hasn't finished his album yet, it should be out in october" will you be satisfi ed?? i have never ever heard of anyone using the public so much towards an albu m.. he could probably care less what people thought of it.. it's rare to love every song on an album.. > Because, I consider us SOMMSters to greatly appreciate and respect Soundgarden 's music and themselves in general, and I think something like this would greatl y improve relations between us two mediums. What the fuck is this? we appreciate them, we like them, we don't know THEM as people, so it's not for us to say anyway, but we like their image i guess you co uld say.. so what? 'relations'!? huh? of course something like this would make a ny fan happy, but it's not really for any due cause.. i don't even consider myse lf to have 'relations' with any medium concerning the band except for other fans .. and let me add that i don't even WANT any sort of relations.. i'm not on the list asking for special treatment.. it's a mailing list.. a group of fans.. we don't tell them what to do.. we talk about topics that interest us about the ban d.. it's not here to let us get to know the guys/anyone related included on a personal level.. so i don't think it should be used in that respect.. > Besides, it add's spark to the topic's that we've been getting lately, like PJ "Sommsfests" and Beenie Baby birthdays... who cares? sommsfests are a good idea.. the band has broken up, i think we do a good job (considering that).. do you think shit like this adds spark? talking ab out trying to weasel your way into some sort of higher power to get what you wan t.. yeah that brings alot of good into the list.. *sigh* i don't think we need T HIS kind of spark you're talking about anyway.. > so...maybe the person reading SOMMS mails could contact Chris and ask if he'd like to get involved with us somehow...of course, I could be blatently turned do wn, but I'm just suggessting some ideas. yeah i think you'll be blatantly turned down.. but then pigs might fly one day.. i'm not trying to be a total negativity-head here, but face reality.. we don't p ay the guys and we aren't anyone special.. to have matt cameron post once was da mn nice, but *asking* for something like that? no way.. that's just not on .. it 's not how you go about it.. if they ever did want to be on the list, great.. bu t you can't make demands on them.. enjoy the music, that's all.. You can flame me, but i think i make sense.. I don't think Dave even realises how ridiculous that idea is. It is well known that Chris doesn't use computers or the internet, nor is he interested in computers in general. I do not doubt that Chris has seen the internet, and has indeed been on more than one online chat, but I am skeptical about him regularly using the computer. If you are talking about the clip http://www.sgi.net/soundgarden/multimedia/klos.au you are right he does mention chat rooms, but he also says he hadn't seen the unofficial site. To me that doesn't sound like he's extremely proficient with computers. I also remember an interview (Rolling Stone?) archived on the unofficial site somewhere in which Chris elaborates his view of technology. He seemed to have a pretty negative view of it, saying he wouldn't make use of it until it was absolutely necessary. Argh. I don't want to turn this into a debate about whether Chris uses computers or the internet or whatever. I realise it wasn't clear, but my point was that Dave's suggestion was not only egocentric, but unrealistic. I mean, I wish I owned a Viper and the boys from SG would come over for tea on sundays, but I don't necessarily tell everyone about it. At least not in a serious way.
