I don't have much of an opinion on it, I just though it interesting. Anyhow, me "tears-to-eyes" song if anyone of you know me is of course "Like Suicide," (The Album version.) I guess it reminds me of pets I'v had to get put to sleep, plus it's sung beautifully and JESUS CHRIST, That guitar solo! Sure Kim can play fast on parts, but it's those perfectly placed bent notes and screaming held notes that make it wail. You go man! --Matt ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Apr 1998 18:05:28 +1000 From: Jenkins Subject: Matt Chat Hey, If it's 7:00pm, the time Matt is on the chat, what time is it going to be in Australia? We (or at least I) know there's a limit to how far you can go with a My point is I'd get sick if people asked me about the songs constantly with silly questions which mean "am I right?? am I one of the chosen fans??" Whatever your point about a song it's yours, nevermind about having the "right" one. But after all that's just my interp of ben's words :) PIF ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Apr 1998 13:57:14 +0100 From: Guillaume PETETIN Subject: Re: A different take on DOTU > actually, the same take- > (btw, sorry if I get this completely wrong, because I accidentally deleted > the person's message) > anyway, a Mark noted that the songs some listers said were the saddest SG > songs for them were all from DOTU. actually, I have to agree that there > are some combinations of sounds on the album that really stir up strong > emotions of that sort. in fact, there was a certain time about 400 days > ago when a particularly strong effect was had on me by... forget it. bad > idea > Bob Well maybe that's just that songs from BMF make people jump around and scream then fall to the ground and shiver!! They are more "heavy" and the beat drives you on. I mean a song like rusty cage in its structure is like that. Slaves & Bulldozers is very powerful but is transe-like. And at the end of the album, you go through the distorted boogie Drawing Flies, then the more "laid back" (relativity...) Mind riot, and when you thought you could leave, the twisted rythm of new damage... Not much time to rest, as opposed to DOTU especially. Yesterday, O6z6z6y wrote: It doesn't seem hopeful to me... but rather simply a coming to terms with the fact that he's stuck beneath the remains and isn't getting out anytime soon. OK, here's some more food for thought about this. The name of the song is BOOT CAMP. What is a boot camp? It's a place where grunts go train themselves into the dirt. But it doesn't last forever!! It's hell for a short time, then you either go off to combat or you become an officer and you tell people to go off to combat. It's a training period. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. To get back to the song, I think it's saying that: I'm in hell right now, but I know there's something good going on outside. If I can only hold on I can get there eventually. I think I could see Ozzy's point if the song had been called "Prison Camp" instead. Life Rules!
