Well, soft wasn't at all what I had in mind. I don't think of it as a soft album at all, in fact parts of it are quite raucous. It's just a very different style and does have quite a pop (as in older pop, not modern top 40 type pop) flavor (and I don't mean Nehi Grape). > If Ben made remakes of The Rev Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and > Otis Redding songs. I bet Jen would be first in line to buy it!! :-))))) > Come on Jen....Ben singing Sexual Healing with some groovin bass to go > along with it!!! Think about it!!! Lord, Toni! Stop messing with my hormones!! Especially the Al Green part! I do think it is very well done and that Chris's > voice is well suited to that style, but it's not a style I listen to > much. I guess the production is a bit slick for my taste too. And at Well, maybe that's because of the "unrelatedness" of TOTD that people like it... But with the light of SG's later albums... Tighter & Tighter easily could have been a temple song. And I was very pleased and surprised by Seasons, which doesn't exactly sound as, let'say Birth Ritual... And about that Andy wood thing, hey lots of people discovered who was Andy wood BECAUSE of the album, and not the other way around. But I'm surprised people are moved by songs like Say hello, Hunger Strike, Call me a dog, Wooden Jesus, all night thing, Four walled world etc... Excerpt from recent e-mail: >I think someone had recently posted asking for someone to make a copy >of Motorvision for them. Really, it's not hard to find if you look! I had >stumbled upon it here http://www.alternativemusic.com/vid.html . So go and >buy it! (((www.peterstwp.com/leco/))) **** From recent experience, I can tell that it -IS- very hard to find a copy of Motorvision. Especially as time goes on... I have tried many video sources and none of them have had a copy by the time I find out that Motorvision is listed in their catalog...including the one just posted. I was lucky enough to have a dedicated SOMMSter (you know who you are!!) offer to make a copy for me. The thing I like best about this newsgroup is the wealth of info that is passed on about CD's, viny,l posters, books, side projects...you name it.. from people who may already have a copy or the info and want to pass on the good fortune to other SG fans.I hope that SOMMSters and SG fans will continue to make these kind of info postings so we all can have out treasured little piece of Soundgarden. On that note...I saw two copies of the little Soundgrden CD book for $1.98 at my local Barnes and Noble. I would be happy to pick them up for anyone willing to pay the shipping. Please send me an e-mail no later than Wednesday 4-29. Thanks!! Sarah (traeger@bms.com) _______________________________________________________________________________ From: Michelle A. Call me a Dog is just incredible. the vocals of "if you keep me on a lease and drag me aloooooooooooong..." just bring that lump of sheer joy and amazement into my throat that i get from Chris's music/SG's music. it's SO moving. as much as Like SUicide, as much as Seasons, as much as Nowhere but You... as much as any emotional song. which would be all of them, actually. =) mind riot ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Apr 1998 19:11:45 EDT From: Morgion1 Subject: Re: survey surprise In a message dated 98-04-27 17:30:08 EDT, NF277679@WCUPA.EDU writes: << geez, man, how can you not be moved by those kinds of creations? granted, i don't get teary when i listen to Hunger Strike (it's one of the weaker songs on the album, imho) but a song like Say Hello 2 Heaven.... it's made me cry more times than i'd probably like to admit. = ) the album also helped me greatly when SG broke up. i couldn't listen to SG itself, but ToTD let me cry and wallow for a while...let me deal with the pain of the loss of SG through something else. >> Now lets rate which songs are easiest to cry to ------------------------------ End of SOMMS Digest - 27 Apr 1998 to 28 Apr 1998 ************************************************
