She was trying to incorporate all of them ito one design. Don't know if that ever happened or not and since I haven't seen a clear shot of the tat, like I said it's just a guess. Even the often > seen unnecessary Applebite can be somewhat psychedelic and moody. Unnecessary? It pisses me off when people talk about a release from an artist (mainly movies at the moment) and thinking they know what it SHOULD have been. Regardless of wether you liked Jackie Brown, for instance, saying it isn't a Tarantino movie because it wasn't what you expected is just plain nonsense. Those who say Applebite is unnecessary are of the same breed I guess... (I would go as far as saying that it is necessary! totally!) The reason I like DOTU is the achievement it is. SG did not imprison themselves in a "style", neither the heavy Badmotor or the "catchy" SU. They produced it themselves and the sound is great (The only thing I really don't like on BMF is the "terry date" uniform sound, pretty much like the "And justice for all" absence of diversity in the prod). Well maybe there are less catchy tunes, but The boys have always known how to make corherent statements and albums, even if not "concept albums" if that's supposed to mean something anyway. > 2.) Who is your favorite member of Soundgarden and why? > > ** This is a very difficult question, because in each song, another SG > member shines. For example, Cornell is an excellent singer but a > terrible guitarist compared to Thayil, true? Likewise, Matt & Ben are I don't agree because Cornell is a hell of a guitar player when it comes to efficiency and diversity... Anyway, that question is a bit stupid, I would answer each one individually... With maybe the exception of Jason Everman :) > 3.) What would be THE PERFECT set list for Soundgarden to do in a > concert > (if they were still together of course) How long are they supposed to play? > 4.) How much everyone considers themselves a Soundgarden fan. What do you mean by fan? Fan as a diehard Micheael Jackson fan? All I know is that I've been deeply touched by the music they played. But would I say i'm more a SG fan than a Led zep fan, for instance???? 5.) Favorite Soundgarden Quote and why? I'm luck's last match struck in the pouring down wind Why ?? Because there must be ONE answer and it's a quote. The sentence itself stands well alone I think. Great blurry picture. And the way it comes in the song... > ** "Hey all you slaves go hang your owners." > This quote is brilliant; 'turnabout is fair play.' This line tells > those that are oppressed to take the higher ground and remove those that > oppress, here seeing them hanged. I like it because of what it suggests, > a form of 'fighting the system.' Is fighting the system fighting the people who had the power by turning oppression?? The "system" is a scheme, a tool that uses you. Not that people are not responsible and should blame the so handy System for everything, but the revolutions often (if not always, especially in the short term) just turn the tide but the flood still comes. Victims and benefactors are not the same but the "system" is globally unchanged, or worse. > 6.) Favorite Soundgarden Side project and why? TOTD for it showed an unknown side of the guys (especially Mr I-write-80- percent-of-the-songs-and-I-sing-and... Cornell). Maybe a hint for the future solo album of CC? Well, let's just hope we'll be surprised. Hey SOMMSters.... i hate to begin back things to the middle name debate again...(which i do admit was dumb...but i've made a few good posts lately, so i've redeemed myself...)..but...why did i get flamed for a middle name question and whoever sent that Chris tattoo question didn't??....now..i do admit i found the tattoo question interesting..and i don't have anything against it being posted...but why is that allowed and the name question wasn't???? They were both, what some of you would call "unrelated", to Soundgarden. I don't want to sound like I'm attacking anyone...cuz I'm NOT....I'm just curious..... If it doesn't show up soon, contact your news server and ask for it. I will also be resubmitting my newgroup command several times over the next few months in case any of the servers missed it. From what I've heard in other groups sometimes it takes months for a new group to be added. Guess I'm lucky my little ISP picked it up so quick! Sally ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 25 Apr 1998 01:16:59 EDT From: RustyWave6 Subject: Rachel Barton Has anyone heard the Rachel Barton - Stringendo: Storming the Citadel? It's a really great CD - she cover's Soundgarden's Blow Up the Outside World. I just bought the CD 3 hours ago (it's 12:15! pm). Also on the CD are covers of Metallica's One and Fade to Black, Symphony of Destruction, Thunderstruck/Back in Black, and some other stuff. They are really cool violin/cello renditions of the songs; if any of you see this around, definitely pick this one up. I still can't believe how awesome Fade To Black sounds! Well, see ya later...
