I'm not sure, but I could help with (perhaps do?) the t-shirt if I was needed.. I've designed/coordinated several shirts in fact. You can find the designs at http://home.earthlink.net/~superu/tshirt/ Some of the designs are somewhat amateurish, but it's been long time since then.. so, this t-shirt thing is just like a general t-shirt for soundgarden fans? is there anything specificallly special about having SOMMS on it? ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Apr 1998 18:05:08 +1000 From: justin nicholls Subject: you can find me hanging from a tree... hey, gang. I had an uneasy night of sleep last night, thinking over matt's move to pearl jam for the summer. first off, I'd like to extend my best wishes to all the u.s sommsters who will get to see our man perform again, in a situation you won't see too often. the first couple of shows may be slow, but I expect matt will bring the house down on more than one occasion. I do, however, feel cheated that australia was not at the **end** of the pearl jam world tour. I saw them twice here, the second night from almost directly behind the stage... for those totd newbies expecting a 'hunger strike' rematch, forget it. that stuff is over and done with. go to the shows, watch letterman and let matt do his own thing. I have a strong feeling that he will not be replacing jack irons on drums in the long term. hidden disclaimer: no sotw this week, thanks to my "no free time" button being mercilessly held down. sorry to anyone who was looking forward to it. on a completely different note, is anyone else here looking forward to the release of _sketches_, jeff buckely's post-humous record? I took this from the official website (sony) for your reading pleasure; the person answering is mary guibert, jeff's mother - "8) describe the involvement of chris cornell in the release of this album." "chris has been a close friend of jeff's for many years. his musical sensibilities are very similar to jeff's and his input has been invaluable from the very beginning of the listening process. the bandmembers and I asked that he be the one to sit in the seat jeff would have occupied during the mixing process of the final masters. we are especially honoured by his contribution to the final outcome." I think it has been mentioned here on the list that chris was involved with this release from the start, assisting the band, sony representatives and jeff's mother in choosing and producing _sketches, for my sweetheart the drunk_. I'm sure the final result will be nothing less than spellbinding. interesting note for the day: buckley has performed live, perhaps more than once, 'fluttergirl'. that would be something special. take it easy. justin ------------- q: is it easy kicking so much ass? a: yes, because there is so much ass to be kicked out there. -matt cameron, 1998. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Apr 1998 09:58:40 EDT From: BigDumbSex Subject: Re: tshirt? <> Just that this is the SOMMS mailing list. ;) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Apr 1998 12:33:51 -0400 From: Jaime Gonzalez Subject: Re: Chris Cornell news group not found People of soundgarden.I could not find the new alt.fan news group either.I vaguely remember having this problem with a different group years ago.If i remember correctly,One may need to contact one's Network news server administrator.Tell this person the name of the new group,Alt.fan.chris-cornell,and have him or her add it to the news server. It should be an automatic process, but if you are like me ,sometime impatient. Send e-mail to the NNTP server administrator requesting that this newsgroup to be added. It may be that this takes time to propagate to all the news servers out there, and so it is only a matter of time before the chris cornell news gropu is detected. Gonzo

He claims to care about the fans of SG although recent proof gives some of us SOMMSters to believe otherwise. Examples of this behavior include: no talking about anything else that isn't directly related to Soundgarden and not letting newer SOMMSters have access to the Matt Cameron/April 9th post. The list should be a place where SG fans can talk about about anything we like. There should be no 'rules' on what the subject matter is on the list except that posts must tie into SG remotely. Even if it is just about Chris Cornell's middle name or a dispute over an email name. Lastly, some of SOMMSters demand to see that Matt Cameron post. Just because we were not a SOMMS subscriber at that time, does NOT mean that we don't have the right to read it. If Seth continues to abuse his so-called powers, we will have to take serious action against a certain Mr. Seth Perlman. ***Susan Silver*** ps-- oh yeah..and he'd better hurry his ass up on putting back up OUR site. If SOUNDGARDEN isn't important enough to him, someone who is more dedicated should take over. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Apr 1998 21:08:23 -0500 From: Geoff Subject: Re: shirts 800 names? I hope me replying to this message is not tacky but jeesh! I just have one question, and here it is. Did Susan Silver really write this? I am thinking in the back of my head no but you never know... I would just like to make a note that in my opinion Seth is not and will never be a "dick". I have to much respect for someone that can dedicate such a big amount of time to his favorite band. So what if he took his web site down for a while to improve it! I have faith that it will be back up and thriving again. Seth and the rest of the people and contributors on this list have made it posible for a fan such as myself to be able to learn about the band, and meet other fans and converse about Soundgarden, the greatest band of all time. I would like to change this letter as a thanks for all the hard work put in by evertbody on this list like Seth, Koggle, Geoff etc... for they are deserving of a break after all the hard work. -John Sorry for any spelling errors but I typed this fast and did not proff read it.:) ---Susan Silver wrote: > > Dear SOMMSters, > > It has come to my attention that our "leader", Seth Perlman, > is a total dick. Of course not ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Apr 1998 19:40:05 PDT From: Arden SunGod Subject: Re: letter to SOMMS to the somms-unappriciative- Alright, I'm sure Seth can (and will) stick up for himself soon enough, but I totally disagree with just about everything that was said. Having a web page myself I *know* how long it takes to do something as "simple" as remodling it. **Especially** when it's as huge as the unofficial SG site. If someone else were have "taken over" in the past I seriously doubt it would be as big, cool, or accurate as Seth's. Give the man a break. It's his site, not OURS. And about Matt's post to somms, if I am correct, he specifically asked that it not be redistributed. I personally am willing to give Matt his wish. If he wants it to stay super-secret, I have no problem with that. It was for their eyes only. (and no, I'm not willing to scalp copies.) Lastly, about the list, I've *seen* other mailing lists, and I'm damned proud of this one. Being a list veteran of almost 2 years (albeit, a quiet two years from me.. I dont post often.) this list has gone through quite a few changes. Some of them good, most of them bad, but still, better than any other list I've seen. There's nothing worse than checking an account full of mail of people relating their "7 Steps to Soundgarden, or less" involving how their walls are blue, and so are Chris's eyes, and isn't that just damned amazing?! Somms has (as long as I know) been a hallow for intellegent converstation. And as long as it has to do with Soundgarden, to some extent, there's nothing wrong with it. Some arguements (especially the unwinnable ones, like Chris's middle name, there will be no final answer until someone talks to him or his friends!) just need to be killed. If you want to argue something like that, contact them personally. I know many people feel strongly agenst all that I've said, so like I mentioned, if you're going to argue something that brings no light into the somms circle, mail me personally, alright? -Arden ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Apr 1998 21:46:57 -0500 From: Geoff Subject: Re: letter to SOMMS What business is it of yours how Seth chooses to administer his mailing list and website? There is a very good reason why talking about things other than Soundgarden is not allowed: the topic of the mailing list is Soundgarden. The one common thing in which we are all interested is Soundgarden. Not everybody is interested in what you have to say about band X, Y or Z. If you don't like it, then unsub. It's that simple. Take your postings to alt.music.soundgarden. Or start your own mailing list. I'd like to see that. Seth is the one with the resources to make this happen. The issue about the Matt post has been addressed many times before. I believe it was Matt's request that it only appear once, and not be archived. Period. Serious action? What a joke. Seth has contributed more effort to the website and mailing list than anyone, not to belittle anyone's efforts. If you don't call that dedication, then you are confused about the meaning of the word dedication. In regards to the state of the website, if you hadn't had your head up your ass you might have noticed that Seth posted the url which would allow sommsters to access the website, a few days ago. And who are you anyway? Susan Silver? I think that name is taken. In closing, I'd like to say that I think you should take your mock crusade and shove it up your ass. No offence intended.
