What is your favorite Soundgarden album and why is it your favorite? I have my oppinion divided between Superunknown and Badmotorfinger. They are the two CDs I listen to the most. Badmotorfinger is usually the chosen one in case I'm angry or depressed. It turns me up again. They both are perfect. 2.)Who is your favorite member of Soundgarden and why? I don't want to choose one and forget the others, but Matt Cameron was the first drummer who caught my attention for the first time in my life. He plays drums like I have never heard anyone else. 3.)What would be THE PERFECT set list for Soundgarden to do in a consert (if they were still together of course) I was infinitely lucky for being able to attend the only concert they ever made in Barcelona, in 1996. The list was made by 7 songs from SU, 8 from DOTU and 6 from BMF. I missed two of my favourite songs: "Superunknown" and "Like Suicide". I wish they had included "Uncovered", "Bleed Together", "Big Dumb Sex", "Flower" and "Ugly Truth". 4.) How much everyone considers themselves a Soundgarden fan. I have never listened to a group for so much time (almost 5 years) as I have done to them. No other group has so many albums I like. 5.) Favorite Soungarden Quote and why? I won't be very original but... "I'm looking California and feeling Minnesota", because it's exactly the way I feel. 6.) Favorite Soungarden Side project and why? Living in Spain the only project I've been able to be aware of is Temple Of The Dog. No comments: great. Pablo >From Barcelona, Spain ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Apr 1998 09:45:16 EDT From: Gallagwar Subject: Soundgarden Spotting Yet another weird Soundgarden spotting on TV, this time on a VH1 game show called My Generation. On the show, two teams from different generations of music history (in this case the 80's vs. the 90's) take Jeopardy-like questions from their generation or their opponents. Anywho, it was the 90's team to pick the category so they picked "Finish This Lyric..."(not the actual title, can't remember it) "Black hole sun, won't you come..." The stupid lady from the 90's team goes... "and wash away the tears." What a fucking moron. Then to make it worse for the "90's" team, the guy from the 80's team answers... "and wash away the rain." BINGO!! The 80's team ended up winning the game 3150 to 100 and won a trip to Las Vegas. Just another random Soundgarden siting... I have the book, "The Making of Superunknown" It is a small CD size book with no pictures. It is the story of them making the CD. Using quotes from the band and the writer filling in the blanks. Each song is highlighted with a little insight from a band member about the particular song i.e. Fell on Black Days. Chris says, "It's a feeling that everyone gets. You're happy with your life , everything's going well, things are exciting, when all of a sudden, you realize you're unhappy in the extreme, to the point of being really scared. There's no particular event you can pin the feeling down to, it's just that you realize one day that everything in your life is fucked. FOBD was like this ongoing fear I've had for years." And than they list the singles from the track and where it was recorded and played for the first time. Lots of info...whether it was worth the $7.95 I paid for it I'm not so sure. But for a goofy Soundgarden collector I guess I am satisfied. Could of had a few pictures of Kim in his skivvies for my taste!!!! :-o As far as Kathie's idea of a Chris newsgroup. I say "go for it girl" If the hootchies want a place to hang and talk long hair vs short hair so be it. If you don't like the idea....don't go there! Kathie......just wait until Chrisfest 98-99!! I am taking room reservations at the Loud Love Motel now!!! toni ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Apr 1998 14:01:05 EDT From: Moonsta693 Subject: Re: Survey Ok, my answers 1. My Fav SG album is Badmotorfinger, just because it kicks ass. Plain and Simple. 2. My fav member? I love them all. Chris is like a father to me. Well, no offense, but that is a stupid question. 5. "Soundgarden is a Tear from an Eye Dreaming." It's so true. I have a pendant I call my Soundgarden tear, because it's shaped like a tear and it's so beautiful, yet rough. 6. Fav SG side Project has to be Temple of the Dog. the music is just so awesome. It's kind of Bluesy. Everybody in bands knew each other; it was really a small scene. I guess everyone wanted to get somewhere, but nobody really had any idea about getting national attention or anything like that." -Hiro the reason this quote stuck out at me because it's exactly the scene in my town, and i can totally relate to it. Another one of my fav quotes is by chris... and i do believe he says "alright everybody, take of your shirts" I guess it's just the way his voice sounds.... nevermind. -Rachel ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Apr 1998 16:15:09 EDT From: Gardner167 Subject: Re: Survey;myuslessopinioin fav. set list.... a 2 hour rendition of "incessent mace". mike. Bill ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Apr 1998 17:20:27 -0500 From: Michele Subject: Survey YOU asked: 1.) What is your favorite Soundgarden album and why is it your favorite? To be honest I have to say Louder than Love because this album in MY Opinion seems to be a making fun of the 80's butt rock scene album. It's comical, it's a less serious album. It almost always puts me in a good mood. I love Chris's wail, the music is just more of a classic rock feel to it to me. Also maybe becuase I feel SU was overplayed it's not as commerical as SU or DOTU I feel that DOTU was a goodbye album even though I love alot of the songs on it. BMF would probaly be my second choice because it amazing, but still there is just some there that I don't like as much as LTL. OR maybe I just love to hear Cornell singing "remember, I love you I love you" the way he sings it :-) 2.)Who is your favorite member of Soundgarden and why? Um Chris,Matt,Kim,Ben........I love them all. 3.)What would be THE PERFECT set list for Soundgarden to do in a consert (if they were still together of course) Hmmmm the perfect Concert setlist? Um Tighter&tighter, JCP, Loud Love, FoBD , overfloater, Boot camp, TDITL, LMD, 4th ofJuly, Nowhere but you, Blind dogs, Seasons,Outshined, Rusty cage,All yourur lies, BTW, Tears to forget, Birth ritual but not nessacerily in that order. 4.) How much everyone considers themselves a Soundgarden fan. I am a fan. I am obessed. I am filling this survey out dammit! is that good enough for you? (as if I really need to answer that question) 5.) Favorite Soungarden Quote and why? Um I can't do th pinky thing....... because it make you wonder. :-) 6.) Favorite Soungarden Side project and why? Temple of the dog because it is something I rescept Chris, Matt, Ament,McCready,Gossard, Veddar for doing plus that album just plain out rocks. It is full of emotion even through bad times it somehow comforts me. Aladdin wrote: >As for having a seperate mailing list for him, it would be pointless > because when his album comes out, the SOMMS posts will be mostly posts > about Chris Cornell. To be honest this is why I thought of the newsgroup in the first place. Is the list really the appropriate place to fill exclusively with posts about Chris, since this IS the Soundgarden mailing list? And I have a sneaking suspicion that Chris' solo stuff is going to bear little resemblance to Soundgarden. Which leads into Koggle's post: > I think the newsgroup idea will be alot more interesting when Chris's > solo work > comes out.. Of course you're right, but I thought it was a good idea to have a head start, getting it in place and all, since we don't know when the album will come out. Also, there are many other things to talk about.... I also liked Koggle's point about how good we ladies have been about NOT discussing our more graphic ideas. Believe me, the private lines are always scorching, but it isn't always sexual stuff. Alot of the women on this list have very deep feelings about Chris (and I'm sure some of you guys do too) and like to talk about them. Its actually too bad that these things are too "boring" or too threatening to some people, because many of us find them fascinating. Anyway...we all go by the rules now and really don't moan about it. Mike, thanks for the vote of confidence, I think. > (this is in no way a slam toward chris groupies, just a suggestion and vote of > support) By the way, "groupies" is not a term most of us take kindly to...we prefer "hootchies" if you don't mind;) And finally, Bill wrote: > Why not just come up with another mailing list? Usenet is truly horrible. Maybe some day another mailing list will be feasible (I have thought of that) but I don't think it would fly just yet. Besides, I doubt my server would support it. And yes, the Soundgarden newsgroup sucks, but I don't think that means a Chris Cornell newsgroup would suck. We can't let it. I subscribe to several really good, cohesive newsgroups, with regular posters and truly interesting conversations. And what's great about newsgroups is that you can delete a whole thread at once if you aren't interested. I know its frustrating for people to read threads that drive them nuts, and on a mailing list you have to delete each post individually, or for us on digest, scroll past them. In usenet you don't even have to look at them (at least with Newswatcher) you read the subject, and the whole thread will be nested in there, so you can delete it all without even opening it. So the hootchies among us who may want to discuss favorite body parts (just an example, folks ) can chat to our hearts content and people who don't want to read it don't have to. I think its pretty cool. It would be up to US to make it a good group. I don't know what happened with the Soundgarden newsgroup. Anyway, I'll leave my proposal in alt.config for a week, like a good girl, and then send a newgroup command and see what happens. I'll keep you posted. Thanks all for your input.
