I never saw it myself... But that damn Titanic song gets played all day long on our dorm piano. Almost makes me regret liking that film. Any chance of a Sunshower video ya think? Also, anyone interested in another poll about the song? Everyone seemed to hate it when it came out. I still think it's pretty cool, but not Chris at his best.. Yes, interpretation is "our" own and I think people that post it want to share it. Sharing is also one of the points of music. Sharing your pointless hatred comes from the same process. But nobody forces you to read the posts from the list. Personnaly, I'm more interested in posts from the "fuckusps" than in "yeah somebody gave me a cool T shirt now give me money" ones... If you can't understand this, I'll rely more on your vocabulary : Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck PIF ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 6 Apr 1998 13:00:02 +0100 From: Guillaume PETETIN Subject: Re: 6 - 9 - g - alphabet soup > That's just it. Even Seth gaves up kudos for Well Whoever would tell us any interpretation, be it God or Chris Cornell (I know some of you might think it's the same person :) ) wouldn't make the other ones wrong... That's the whole point about it. > wonder if that's what Chris really meant when he wrote this.." I have a clue for all the songs he and lots of others wrote : they wanted words to get along with a melody. They wanted to entertain. They had to get something out of themselves. The rest is up to any interp. by anybody. For instance, birth ritual about music business... The song grows on you. Once you get past the fact that it sounds so different than any Soundgarden or other solo Chris songs, you can appreciate it more. The lyrics are great in the sense that many people can relate the lyrics to their own personal lives since the general theme is that even though are there may be some hard times, you will surivive and the sun will still rise the next morning. "When you're all all in pain and you see the rain come down" The rain or the hard times are just like a sunshower. Eventually it will stop raining and the sun will shine bright you you will be happy again. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 6 Apr 1998 17:30:53 -0400 From: Brian Kirkner Subject: Re: Dog imagery? I've said it before, i'm sure! These interpretations are just that.... personal interpretations... individuals ideas on what the songs could be about. Frankly i see no harm in engaging in an intelligent conversation about something that interests me so much, and it makes me a little worried to find that some people are becoming distressed at this latest turn of events for SOMMS.. would they rather we go back to talking about middle names and how much we want to be susan and how fuckin fast Kim is? i really hope not... we're supposed to enjoy the music how we feel it should be enjoyed.. this, to me, is how it should be enjoyed.. if you don't want to take part in the interps. If you are out there, Matt, Chris, Ben, or Kim..I hope you can read this. Thanks for your music, for the time that I known you, and for the years coming ahead. I thank you for your music, which has supported me through troubled times of my life. By most importantly, your music has changed me. And I think that's what you guys were going for. I wish you all luck in your future endeavours, and I just want you to know, that even though Soundgarden is no longer together, I know that you will enjoy a great future ahead of ya. A great, loyal fan, Dave George-Cosh P.S. I also saw the jim rose circus sideshow last week. while getting my shirt signed, I mentioned to mr. rose that it was in fact chris cornell who first suggested to me to see his show - on the lollapalooza '92 boot chris demands that the audience, after soundgarden's set of course, go drink a beer and then see the circus. rose remembered chris and soundgarden, but didn't remember introducing them. they're here again in june, so maybe I'll make him a tape. btw, additions/subtractions to the faq will be ready soon after sgi.net is running again (if it is up today, believe me, I haven't looked). keep cool. justin ------------- q: is it easy kicking so much ass? a: yes, because there is so much ass to be kicked out there. -matt cameron, 1998. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 6 Apr 1998 21:24:41 EDT From: SpoOnArTis Subject: Interp Site OK, the site is fully updated now, everyone who has sent me stuff has their interpretation posted.
