In Soundgarden's list there is an entry for "Kingdom Of Come" on 12" wax. I don't recall spotting this anywhere on the site or the Unofficial Discog (if it's there and I'm just an idiot and don't see it let me know). Anybody have a clue what this is??? First of all, who is Greg Gilmore, who was supposedly the inspiration? We've probably discussed this before at some point, but I don't remember. The more I listen to the song the more it seems like Kim was writing about the burden being in the band had become: "I can't live when it lives, It won't live if I die. Machine has no heart to give, Heart it takes could be mine" And then the last verse: "Presently, I see myself clearer, Why time I visualize, I spy device in the mirror, Checkmate watch machine die". Listen to the song with the idea that the "machine" stands for the cumbersome trappings of the band, and more specifically, fame. Any thoughts? As far as Chris and Slash collaborating, I've thought about that alot. Unfortunately if they did I doubt that what would result would be anything like we might expect. They're both incredibly intelligent and sensitive, and have matured beyond both SG and Guns N Roses. So as appealing as it is to picture Chris as he was in, say, 1993, with Slash at around the same time, obviously their music would be pretty different now. Which doesn't mean they wouldn't work great together. It just might not be what people expect. And I don't think the double "rock God" situation would be a problem. Slash doesn't seem to have a huge ego problem, and I bet Chris would be glad to share that burden. I've seen it too although I first thought they meant GARY Gilmore the guy that got executed over in Utah in the late 70's. He was convicted of murder and he himself wanted to die and had to more or less fight for the capital punishment to be implemented. But then again it's probably about somebody else. >Listen to the song with the idea that the "machine" stands for the cumbersome >trappings of the band, and more specifically, fame. Any thoughts?
