Don't you think that if any of >us was lucky enough to find one, we'd horde it all for ourselves? Jordan, I beg to differ with you on this point! Obviously your sarcasm does not always win you friends and you have not been on the receiving end of a package in the mail from a Sommster!!!! I don't have the time to list all the "cool" things(import CD's, vinyl, posters, picture disks) I have gotten from people on this list either as a gift or in a trade. Even my treasured SOMMS came from a Sommster who sold it to me for a very reasonable price and this was after much searching on my own. Also not everyone lives in places that hunting down Soundgarden is easy. Maybe the person who posted lives in Bugjuice, Montana and they only place to purchase records within 100 miles is a damn WalMart!! And when someone post something like that who knows it might spark a conversation about the item in question! And God knows we need some sparks of conversation around here. So I stand with Soren on this one. Be nice! Sarcasm is fine BUTT this post crossed the line to being cruel. So be careful, Jordan....you are definitely in the running for Worst Sommsters and I have some really bad 70's albums out in my garage that I might give away to the person who wins that title. :-o Still givin it away.........toni ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Mar 1998 09:26:07 -0500 From: Deborah Servey Subject: watch this space Hey List! Good morning! Remember my moving sale held a while back on this fine list? Well, I have stuff left over....lonmg story...people claimed stuff and then haven't come thru w/ the $$, I've tried to contact them, their host is ubnknown, nice stuff like that. So I figure I've been reserving this stuff long enough, time to let it go. Soon as I can, I'll repost what I have to the list. Might be later today, might not be until Tuesday or Wednesday. If you've ever moved and are fixing up a house, you'll understand why I'm so busy! ALSO--Lin had uncovered a fabulous Soundgarden press kit she wants to put up for bid. It's got an autographed pic of Chris and sopmething like 6 promo shots and stuff. She's giving it to me today so I will be posting a full description. I'll try to get that posted today! All I can say is....thanks to all who have helped give our Sgarden stuff a new home! Is anyone interested in any PJam stuff? Or a colored MLB single w/ pic sleeve? later, kiddies, and hello to my list epals--I'm working my fingers tot he bone getting my new nest ready, guys, for a sommsfest! deb ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Mar 1998 11:51:08 -0500 From: Deborah Servey Subject: Moving Sale part 2, or the stuff no one claimed OK List, here it is! Moving Sale part 2, or this is the stuff people haven't claimed, or they claimed it and then vanished. Since this came up on the list last week, if anyone questions why I'm doing this....I'm moving, I don't want to have to move all this stuff....and I'd much rather put my $$ into going to Europe. I'm not the huge collecting Sgarden fan I used to be and I can't stand the thought of throwing stuff like this into the trash. And before this starts rolling--I'll hold this stuff only 2 weeks after you claim it! US POSTAL money orders only, just so you know in advance. SOUNDGARDEN VINYL--THESE PRICES DO NOT INCLUDE POSTAGE--we can work out which you prefer, priority or first class. I'm flexible on that!! 7" pic disks Day I Tried to Live/Like Suicide(live) UK pic disk $8.00 Black Hole Sun/My Wave(live)/Beyond the Wheel(live) UK pic disk $10.00 Fell on Black Days/Kyle Petty/Motorcycle Loop US pic disk $10.00 12" vinyl Day I Tried to Live/Like Suicide/Kickstand limited edition etched vinyl, with Sgarden Superunknown stencil $12.00 JCP/Stray Cat Blues/Into the Void/Somewhere UK with poster bag, and the poster is the JCP skeleton on the cross thing, plus shots of the band from the video $18.00 Rusty Cage/Touch Me/Show Me Limited edition, #3500 of 5000, with poster bag. Lovely poster of the band, CC shirtless--WOW! $25.00 TOTD Hunger Strike/Your Saviour/All Night Thing UK pic sleeve 12" $8.00 And before you ask, none of this vinyl has ever been played. It's called mint, not virgin vinyl if anyone ever looks at Goldmine, which is a collectors newspaper. I've been getting it for almost 10 years--try it, you'll find stuff that way! ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Mar 1998 12:05:06 -0600 From: pmi/000412 Subject: TOUCHY!! > > Ugly Truth is my handle, dont use it please, we try to have 1 person per SG > song for handle > > -The Authentic Ugly Truth > "If you were mine to give I might throw it away" Whoa....someone has a huge problem.......sorry if i've had this handle ever since I've been on the internet....it isn't really a big problem, is it? Exam hangovers? Or is the government adding testosterone to the water supply? Whatever it is, there sure is a lot of aggressive griping going on here these days. I don't think most people are looking for a miracle, or expecting someone else to do their legwork for them when they ask about obtaining a particular item. No, I don't want to see the list turn into the fucking want ads, but I do know that many of us have helped others find items for their collections. I also know that if others don't know what we are looking for, opportunities get away. I've had friends report seeing things that I wanted that were in my price range that they didn't pick up because they already had one and didn't know I wanted one. Several of my friends and I, both on and off this list, have given each other lists of our most wanted collectibles so that we can keep an eye out for them for each other. And it has paid off. When I joined the Truly list I complained about not being able to find any of their material (all I had was a taped copy from a friend). People were so helpful that I soon had all the releases. And I found extras for people who didn't have them all. So, help each other out, for cripe sakes, even if it's only to give them some info or some starting point, a favorite site you buy from, or something, but if you attack people over such requests, don't expect people to help you acquire anything, or to have a very high opinion of you. This list is just too amazing! Within a very short time of first posting I had all but one item sold. Wow, and back when I started collecting, I had to do it al by snail mail, ads in Goldmine and catalogs! All I have left is the Fell on Black Days 7" pic disk! You guys are the greatest! deb ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Mar 1998 19:59:55 -0500 From: Deborah Servey Subject: Press kit for A&M--bids? OK, list....here's a choice item Lin just gave me. Allow me to describe it and let's see how it goes as a bid item.... Press kit....This appears to be a press kit A&M put out shortly after Sgarden signed with them. If you've ever seen stuff like that you'll understand what some of this stuff is that I'm describing--it's an intro to the band. There are 2 stapled packets of xeroxed articles, stuff A&M collected that mentions Sgraden or early articles on them. This is typical stuff a label does to tout a new band, sorta like"hey, look at the press they've received already." There's stuff from sources like Spin, Rolling Stone, and there's some big article from A&M Publicity also. There are a number of publicity releases from A&M, from October 89 to July 93. There are 2 Chris Cornell quote sheets from May/June 92 (same thing), 2 copies of a June 92 bio on the band, and a bio from December 93. No press kit is complete without promo photos and there are 4 in this one. All are 8x10 b&w. One is of a car...a Firebird w/ the BMF logo and "Soundgarden" on its door....not sure of the meaning of it. Next is a group shot--Kim to the front framing the shot w/ his hands, the other guys behind him. CC is shirtless, has his muzz. Next is a shot by LANCE MERCER...group shot out in the woods, Hiro with them. Last is a group shot with Jason....AUTOGRAPHED by Chris with a magic marker. You can't get these pix anymore, and they're all with this press kit. Let's start the bidding at $100. Please, serious bids only! I'll take bids until....next Sunday at noon, that's March 15. My guess is this is one of Sg's earliest press kits. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Mar 1998 17:30:15 PST From: Incessant Mace Subject: Re: Slash and Chris >Date: Sat, 7 Mar 1998 14:10:05 -0600 >Reply-To: whflanders@MAIL.UTEXAS.EDU >From: Bill Flanders >Subject: Slash and Chris >To: SOMMS@MITVMA.MIT.EDU > >This is a random opionion poll. What would you think of a Chris Cornell >side project involving Slash on lead guitar Would this duo be called Beauty And The Beast? Adonis And His Hairy Friend? Just a joke. Slash really doesn't look that bad when his hair is slicked back. I think it would be a good combination but it would just make me miss Soundgarden even more.
