A friend informed me that Sat. nite at the OK he attended a show with Macaw, Zen Guerillas, Queens of the Stoneage, and Love Battery (yes, they're back together). Ben did not play with Macaw (though he was at the show as a spectator), someone named Louis did. Matt did not play with Queens, and he doesn't know who the drummer was. So, there's two more SG related bands that appear to no longer be SG related. :( Jen ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Mar 1998 14:57:43 EST From: CameronJCP Subject: Matt on The Fat of the Land Hey Somms boils and ghouls! I just got a new stereo last night so I popped in some cd's. I put in my prodigy cd and played it to the end and as soon as I heard track #10 it really caught my ears from what I was doing on my computer. The opening part of that track and its continuous rhythm should definitely be Matt on drums. We all know that he is on the cd and his drum part is cut up on the tracks and no one is sure which tracks he's on, but if you listen to the cd track 10 would sound the clearest to something that Matt would maybe play. So give it a listen! By the way, ladies and germs, it's a new month!! Do ya'll know what that means?? Can we PLEASE stop talking about MTV? i know sometimes it may be soundgarden related, but not everyone in the world watches it or even has access to it.. i think it is somewhat unfair, perhaps boring, to hear talk of all these 'cool' shows that mentioned the word "Soundgarden" or played one of their songs.. thank you kindly.. SIGH, as I said wishful thinking!!!!! Personally, I think it'd be horrible if they got back together. I think that it'd show weakness on their parts.. They were stong enough to stand up and say "we've had enough" and to take that back would be, dare I say it, a disaster to the respect I have for them. They disbanded with the greatest dignity, grace, and sense of right. They had a long, prosperous career that brought pleasure not only to themselves but to fans around the world. In my opinion, ending their career as Soundgarden the way they did was perfect. So many times you hear about bands who have broken up or who have fired members and what you hear are hateful, bitter, and childish remarks thrown back and forth. The ex-members of SG kept and maintained an unmatched level of decency throughout their time together and still now when they've gone their separate ways. It's refreshing. The silence around their break-up has a serene quality. I like it very much and I do not wish for it to be disturbed. For them to take back a decision that they made and carried out in a most admiral way is simply wrong and not worth all the money in the world. May Soundgarden be with you. I understand and respect your argument. The "mistake" I was referring to was the POTENTIAL mistakes that could have unfolded had they stayed together despite the tension. Say they did stay together, and no one was having a good time, bickering, etc.. they could have very easily digressed into a Guns & Roses-esque fiasco. I think they realized and feared this, hence my comment on the avoiding of potential mistakes... I think there's a lot to be said for "avoiding" in this case..
