So that the original message I intended to send and which was referred to by the "toolshed" post that many replied to. Yep tool have a great page thanks to Khabir (is that the correct spelling) and SG have theirs thanks to seth. One of many common points between these two great bands I think, which is why they have such dedicated fans - thus especialy the page admins and contributors. But let's move to this message... > -----Original Message----- > From: Guillaume PETETIN > To: webproducer@PETERSTWP.COM > Date: Wednesday, February 25, 1998 7:32 AM > Subject: Re: Collection Questions > > > >> I have the Burden in My Hand UK promo single. PIF ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Feb 1998 12:21:46 +0100 From: Guillaume PETETIN Subject: talking about memories? I would like to share some memories with you all... guess what? It's about SoundGarden. I was 15-16 in 1991. I saw a strange CD cover and listened to it. It was AIC's Dirt. I thought that it was what I wanted Metallica to be... Let me explain : I was "trying" to dig Metallica at the time, looking for something heavy. But what they lacked I found in the red album. One year and something later, my only exposition to "seattle grunge" :( apart from AIC was Vs, still the best overall album from these guys in my opinion but who cares? I borrow Aerosmith's Pandora's Box from a friend and he gives me a tape with it - "you'll like it" he says. First time I listen to it I'm in a bath. Hate the voice. hate the sound. Monotonous. Pointless. I give him back the tape the next day, but he refuses it. I listen to it once more. still don't like it. The snakes bites its tail five times. In the meantime, I become accustomed. Six months later he begs me for his tape, but I'm addicted. That's how Badmotorfinger bit me. Then Temple of the dog will definitely hook me to the SG ship... Was your first "SG experience" similar, especially with BadMF??? What's more, thanks to the page , I read almost all the articles about the band, and I remember one where the Journalist - well, not really, but she writes the stuff, so... - sees "Chriiiiis" coming from onstage swimming in sweat and his torso exposed to her view. The way she describes it is like a mega slow motion with travelling on the top : "Chris oozes sexuality"... The band knocked her off later with the interview (When I have the time I find which one it is so you can read this) because of her prejudices and shitty questions. Two things come from this -1- Now, we call CC "the man who oozes sexuality" :))))) -2- What I really like with these guys is the way they are themselves, that is not feeding other's people hopes/prejudice/cliches/etc... and the way they are where you don't expect them. Read the interviews and you'll know what I'm talking about. One last thing : what is this "Ave maria" stuff?? and does anybody have more info on the Jeff buckley posthumous album?? PIF - He who oozes not sweat but pure sexuality ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Feb 1998 08:27:39 -0800 From: Jordan Snodgrass Subject: Re: Collection Questions Guillaume PETETIN wrote: > If you think it's a good idea then let's post an official request and suggest > contributions to seth. Forget it... anything even remotely commercial is stepping on the band's toes, no matter how rare or un-rare it is. That includes official studio demos that were never released commercially, but somehow leaked out. I'm affraid you're going to have to settle for whatever live .mp3s you can find. Besides, if you look good enough, it's really not all that hard to find all the b-sides. -- bye bye -js mailto:jordans@ucsd.edu http://sdcc10.ucsd.edu/~jasnodgr/fm/ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Feb 1998 10:31:28 -0600 From: Geoff Subject: Re: Collection Questions First of all, there are clips of nearly every single soundgarden song ever released available on sgi.net in the multimedia section. You can hear any of the rare/hard to find/unreleased songs you want. Of course anything released by the band is only a clip. Second, I believe there is an mp3 site with boots on it, though it is not well-advertised, and tends to move around a little. Geoff Guillaume PETETIN wrote: > > > You sent this message to just me. No you can't Geoff because it's "temporarily out of order" and I get more depressed everyday since Soundgarden sgi.net is my home page and every time I go to my Navigator I get reminded that the page and the band are out of order. One only temporary the other I am afraid is permanent. ;-(((( I watched the lame ass Grammys last night(I sometimes torture myself in strange and mysterious ways) and the ONLY bright spot was the nominations for best country song when they said "Rusty Cage" by Johnny Cash! toni ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Feb 1998 23:30:41 +0100 From: Anders B-N Nergaard Subject: Taking orders I'm going to a recordfair this Saturday and chances are that I'll find some SG promostuff. Last time I went to this fair, I bought three promos for $30. Also I found some copies of promos I already own. So if anybody's interested in promos, let me know and I'll pick up the extra copies I find if they are not overpriced. And another thing. I recently got some stuff from London. Now that city must be SG-heaven. I only managed to visit one store, Sister Ray, but I cleaned it out. I bought one Outshined 7" picdisc, one 7" TDITTL LimEd picdisc, both JCP 12" both LimEd and etched, one including this posterbag. BTW, the one containing the posterbag is still sealed. Should I open it? What does the poster look like? Also one Outshined 12", one 12" TDITTL (with the SU stencil), the clear copy of DOTU and finally no. 2202/5000 Rusty Cage picdisc. And I also got my hands on three BHS promo windshieldstickers. Now, I have two copies of DOTU, so one's up for grabs. The problem is I spilt some coke on the cover (imagine my anger) and it soked up before I noticed it. So if anybody's interested in one coverstained DOTU on clear vinyl, let me know. (the discs are in perfect order and only played once, the stain is barely noticable, but it's still a stain so I won't ask much for it. Maybe a poster or a single) Hopefully my luck will continue on this fair. Oh, and a special thanks to UKDeb!
