Subject: the perfect place, the perfect time hey sommsters. long time since i've spoken up. anyways, i'm just here to tell a brief tale. you know how they go...everything in your life is going great...so you never really hear SG on the radio. at least, this is how it goes for me. then suddenly, one afternoon, it all gets swept out from under you. your career, your luck, your aspirations in the sports world, even your roommate who's your good friend changes dramatically on you... STRESS!!! i've got to change colleges, but first find one with everything i want. STRESS!!! i'm doing bad in a few classes, and don't know why. i've got a teacher set against my style of writing, and a journalism teacher who couldn't give a shit for anyone besides the editor of the newspaper that's in the class. AUGH!!!! things are going insane!!! so i work out everyday anyway, but it's been helping get some of the stress out of my body. so i'm reading a magazine, listening to the radio that is always on in the school gym, and riding the stationary bike...and what comes on? Sunshower... suddenly, the lyrics mean everything in the world to me. the song takes on new meaning. i love it. everything about it. even the lame-o chorus, because it's making me feel better. two days later, coming home from a day out with friends. what comes on the instant the driver puts on the radio for the first time the whole trip, only 3 minutes from school? Spoonman. the very first line comes out as soon as she hits -power-. amazing feeling. tonight, me and a friend had an indepth conversation concerning everything we've gone through, things that are stressing us out now, how i'm dealing with this transferring crap... Sunshower again, right as we park to get out of the car. I swear, it almost made me cry. that song...it's so beautiful now. every last too-long second of it...beautiful. pure. Sunshower... god, is there nothing that SG and it's (former) members can't make seem a little brighter, a little less hurtful, a little easier to deal with? Chris cornell, why are you so brilliant? why are so you amazing? SOUNDGARDEN, how in hell did you ever do this to me!?!?!? = ) i love it. so much. mind riot ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Feb 1998 01:22:11 EST From: Nick Boos Subject: Re: SOUNDGARDEN EVERYWHERE!!!! My album doesn't have >anything that looks like it would be called a 'poster bag', but it does have >AMY DJ 862 (album #) etched into it. Poster bag means basically, the vinyl was wrapped in a poster. I saw one in the shop and it was a large JCP poster (makes sense :) of stills etc from the video. (from what I remember anyway) The Etched Disc has on one side an entching of the skeleton/robot on the cross. Kim isn't really doing anything musically other than compile B-sides and decide which live recordings should beincluded on their live album. That's kind of on the back burner for now, though. 2. Girl U Want was originally written and performed by Devo. I'm not quite sure who in particular wrote it, probably Gary Lasale. I haven't seen Tank Girl, so I don't know which version appears in it. Girl U Want also appears on the Rusty Cage promo single, al;ong with Show me and Into the Void, which is also a kick ass cover. ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: On everything plus questions Author: at aot-gateway Date: 2/24/98 5:19 PM Whats the problem with other bands? We don't make it a big thing, Soundgarden is dead. Yes, the ex-members are making music, but you write about that once, you write it all. Its not coming fast. Why is it a problem if we want to knoe about other music that most of us like anyway? If you want to take out some messages, this is not to take out!!!! Take out, rather, the stupid threads with all the imaginary stuff. This list, I believe, was made for info and I guess sharing experiences and connecting with other SG fans. Well, this is also a use for it!!! If you can experience new music or find out about music you like from this list, whats the problem? Now for some Soundgarden questions: 1. I still didn't get an asnwer about what Kim Thayil is doing music-wise, other than B-Sides. At least tell me you know nothing, so I don't expect an answer. 2. What are the lyrics to She's A Politician? Who wrote "Girl U Want"? I heard Girl U want in Tank Girl, but I don't know if that was the original, and if it was, I still don't know who sings it. For those of you who don't have it, these two songs are from SOMMS. Thank you for the info in advance and for listening to me blabbering. Everyone has an SG quote here, so I'll start putting one in too. It's funny, about a month after they broke up, I was cheking the S section of my local record store, and apparently one of the radio stations dumped all their promo shit off. As soon as I heard that first song Head Down, I knew that my life would turn around. Soundgarden is the greatest thing that happened to me, I've only been listening to them for around 6 months but it seems like forever. Even if they write crap songs they're still fuckin cool. When you're in a bad mood, bung on a bit of Soundgarden and they seem to understand everything...after coming home from school where the teachers ramble on about nothing, I like to put on a sweet little number called Ty Cobb, dedicated to my loved teachers. Or if I'm feeling great I just listen to Badmotorfinger and I feel even better. I'll be listening to Soundgarden until I have false teeth and wrinkles. I AM OBSESSED OVER SOUNDGARDEN.
