However, in the actual song on Screaming Life, he sounds nothing like Robert Plant. He sounds more like the background voice in Love Roller Coaster by Red Hot Chili Peppers. -----Original Message----- From: Anthony Pulitano To: SOMMS@MITVMA.MIT.EDU Date: Wednesday, February 11, 1998 2:36 PM Subject: little Joe >Don't you think Chris's voice kinda resembles that of Robert Plant in Little >Joe? It's interesting to hear these comparisons... Maybe I've just gotten so accustomed to Chris' voice that I don't think they are all that similar. People I know who aren't big Soundgarden fans mistake Sammy Hagar for Chris, which trips me out since I can't stand the guy's "voish". There are certainly some similar techniques that Hagar, Plant, Steve Tyler, and even Axl Rose share in getting those high screams going. But still, isn't their attitude important at all? Do you hear a lot of blues in Chris' voice like you do in Zeppelin? Plant's vocals were always kind of spontaneos, and Chris are more calculated and rythmic, atleast in albums after Screaming Life.. my two cents. Listen to Helter Skelter with Chris in mind and maybe we could get a little better idea of his evolution as a singer/Beatles fan. Hey SGardeners, You may have seen this...I am trying to catch up to y'all...I'm over a week behind...my apologies for any possible redundancies! from www.kisw.com: What are the former members of Soundgarden doing? Though Matt Cameron is working with Smashing Pumpkins, he says he has no intention of joining the band. Cameron is in his new band Well Water Conspiracy, working on their 2nd album. Hater, with Matt and Ben has had their record done for some time...but no release date yet. Kim Thayil is currently working on an album of Soundgarden B-sides. They re hoping for release in about a year. Chris Cornell has booked studio time for April to start work on his first full length solo album. Should be out by year s end. _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? (the interview showed pj rehearsing for the monkeywrench radio broadcast). ~powerchild ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Feb 1998 18:11:05 -0600 From: Andrew Christensen Subject: BMF/SOMMS 2-CD for sale hello. i totally don't want to do this at all but i am pretty hard up for money right now (i'm not on heroin or anything i just have more bills than i can pay.) anyway, instead of screwing around with some kind of raffle that will take all sorts of time and inflate the price insanely high i am asking $50 for this and will sell it to the first person willing to buy it. i am also trying to sell a Room a Thousand Years Wide/H.I.V. Baby 7" and am asking $25 for this. it is a black record, not a purple one. this was the subpop singles club 7", the first release with Ben, and is a different version of RATYW than on Badmotorfinger. but you all know all this. i am of course willing to consider any trades though for the subpop Circles/Gen-O-Cide 7" by Hater because Hater is cooler than paying off any bills. thank you very much and please remember to respond privately to: sdre@camelot.bradley.edu andrew ------------------------------ End of SOMMS Digest - 11 Feb 1998 to 12 Feb 1998 ************************************************
