Excuse me, but SOMMS is a forum for DISCUSSING the music, not being a bunch of yes-men (and women). If we don't like it, we have a right to say so and to say why. I have read nothing here that I consider back-stabbing. I think most people are still reserving their opinions of what direction his career will take for after they've actually heard the solo album. But that does not mean they can't speculate in the meantime. Yes, he has the right to make whatever kind of music he wants, but that does not guarantee that it will be better than anything else that's out there, or that we will like it. And who is to say he has more talent, heart, or money (as if that makes any fucking difference) than any of us will ever have? I'm betting there are quite a few musicians on this list with the potential to do something wonderful. If they're on this list, they already have some taste, anyway. And this discussion has nothing to do with metal vs. acoustic, or any musical preferences. It's my experience that the members of this list have quite eclectic tastes. The disappointment arises when we think that he is not living up to his potential in whatever genre he chooses to work in. And you yourself have very limited scope if you think there are no good acoustic acts out there. If anyone should "get off the list" it's people who can't handle an honest argument that goes against the grain of blind sheep-like loyalty. Am I supposed to sit back and enjoy everything he puts out simply because he used to front my favorite band of all time? Pretty empty headed point of view, if you ask me. My not liking Sunshower has nothing, i repeat *nothing* to do with the fact that it's not electric, ok? It has to do with the fact that it's flat, boring and lame, bottom line. Chris is capable of writing better, and you know it. And please, don't tell me, and others, to leave the list if we have a problem with Cornell's solo work, this is a *Soundgarden* list...rest assured, there is going to be a big difference, upon the release of Chris' solo album, between Soundgarden fans and Cornell fans. wondering if I'm a "true" fan since I could care less for Kickstand, :-P ~rita ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Jan 1998 13:58:25 -0700 From: Paul H Subject: reunion? Hmm... i really do not know what to think of Sunshower. I really think it sounds really poppy and trendy. What? he should make any muisc he wants to even if it alienates all his original fans? I dunno.. If this song fortells the Cornell solo future... it's going to suck. I really loved SOundgarden for their raw energy and power and how they could go from soft to heavy at any time. If Cornell does only soft all the time Im gonna be fucking pissed. Sorry for telling this to everybody but i had to... ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Jan 1998 23:45:29 EST From: Freedotcom Subject: Interesting Daria makeover!
