Anyway...They don't mention Matt at all... "Iha and bandmates, Billy Corgan and D'Arcy, have turned to composing with a drum machine." I know that Matt probably isn't going to compose...since he isn't "in" the band..but don't you think that he would have some musical input...or at least be mentioned? That's kinda fucked up.... Okay, and I think Dave Cosh asked something about cheesy rock compilations...I hope not...but here's something that interested me while I was lookin at BMG advertisement...There's a compilation called Guitars That Rule The World, and it mentions Kimmy's name...now what's up with that? Is it a cheesy, scary rock eMpTyV thing, or is it respectable? I never heard of it...any one care to inform the queen of da hedgehogz? Another thing...Tom...I'd like to thank you for the post to the list about you deleting the messages about the girls on the list...I don't think you understood that it was SG related...it's about women who are SG fans, and how they are seen and have a bad rap...and it's about the memebers of SOMMS, so it is a fairly important issue, especially if you are in that generalization, and constantly get shit for it...I don't know how many of us chics are on the list....but I'm sure that we are a huge population. I think it's cool to hear what people thought about it...even if we missed Pablo's message (sorry) but at least we got to show that us females are more than Chris hootchies. Sorry, I didn't take this up in private y'all, but lost the kid's addie, and maybe this might help a few that didn't get it either. Okay...blah blah blah...lemme leave you all alone... Sorry for posting the same thing three times. Jen - I can't find the blasted magazine anywhere either :). I've been to 3 different bookstores and grocery stores and I can only find Guitar World accoustic.....I guess they're always sold out (I live in Seattle). While I'm here I also got a question. Has anyone else noticed a repeating 'ding ding ding' kind of sound in Never Named? It's most noticable to me during the chorus (or whatever you call that part). Anyone know exactly what the sound is? /\ /\ 'o' -Cat "I'll lay this all to rest....." P.S. Now, I was wondering if that maybe the freaky members of the band might have put some backwards lyrics or whatever to some songs on the CD. If anyone has access to something like this, (not WinBlows Media Player, that's just wrong) but something like CoolWave, ya mind checking it out? I'd piss my pants if I heard Tad slowly advise all children to worship the food god or something like that. BTW, is the Unofficial Wellwater Conspiracy page still up, I tried going there but nothing's up. And the Webmaster hasn't updated the site in half a year... Dave ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 4 Jan 1998 13:31:31 EST From: Gallagwar Subject: MTV preview A few days back, I posted a message about MTV's '98 music preview. I mentioned how there was a slim possibility of Chris's album being mentioned. Well, as expected, I was wrong. There were numerous times when he could have been mentioned but was not. Most notably was when Carson Daly (who the fuck is he?) was previewing the rock albums that would be released during 1998. In it there were only five albums: a Clash Tribute record, a tribute for some other old band which I could not remember, Rocket from the Crypt who opened for Soundgarden on the DOTU tour (they suck), the Scott Weiland solo album (who cares), and a Jerry Cantrell solo album (didn't know that, can't wait). Through that (including 2 other solo releases) they failed to mention the solo record of the greatest musician in the world. What a load of crap!! I also wonder if on the Cantrell album, if he will have a backup band like Chris or if he will play everything like he did on the Cable Guy song "Leave Me Alone." Yes--Chris is good-looking. Yes--all of us female fans have taken notice to that. Yes--we discuss it on AOL, BUT, that doesn't mean we don't appreciate the music. I was wowed by Chris' voice before I even knew what the guy looked like! So leave us female fans alone, and also, leave the "aging" Chris Cornell alone. Belive me, all you 18, 19, and 20-year olds out there, 33 is NOT old by any means, and when you mature a little bit more, you'll realize that being in your late 20's and early 30's is much more fun!!! Nothing's gonna pinch this nerve of mine. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 4 Jan 1998 18:12:02 EST From: Aferdity Subject: Spoonman playing hockey... Yea, I know the subject doesn't quite make since but anywho... To give you some background info., they recently got a hockey team in Lake Charles (probably no one knows where that is so just humor me). Anyway, the guy that does the music usually plays that Jock Jams/Rocks crap and a bunch of "oldies but goodies" songs (an occasional Metallica song will pop up which is kinda refreshing). I have been telling my friend that they need to play some Soundgarden and she was agreeing with me that they need to get some new music. Well, Fri. night they had a game and it was one of the best that I have been to and in the 3rd period, to top the night off, over the sound system came the sweet voice of Chris and Ben singing Spoonman. Of course I go out of my mind and stand up and start banging of the glass and making a real fool out of myself. Of course, everyone else was clam and sitting down because the puck wasn't in play so I'm sure I looked like a complete horses ass but I didn't care because Soundgarden was playing and everything was right with the world. To top it off the guy must have gotten a wild hair up his butt because he then went on to play some Pearl Jam which was cool. For the rest of the night (even though we lost) I was so excited because they played Soundgarden!!! Which brings me to a question; where is the weirdest, most unexpected place that you have heard a Soundgarden song where you didn't request it or have anything to do with it being played? Just curious about this? Hopefully this will become a ritual type thing for the sound system guy to play Spoonman in the 3rd period becasue last night he played more than half of the song. It gives me more time to make a goof-ball out of myself. :) Take care and be sweet!!! In my opinion, the writing and artistic ability come first. Soundgarden bled genious in their music and that's why I loved them and still do. Most of the songs have a message, not necessarily a good message but always a true message. And the one's that don't leave you wondering... gasping for breath, that's what they were all about, creative genious, always leaving you wondering what they were gonna write about next. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 4 Jan 1998 19:46:28 EST From: Gallagwar Subject: Re: Spoonman playing hockey... Happy Sunday evening to ya, and esp. to those of us preparing to see the X Files. I'm jumping the gun a bit here but A) I just can't wait and B) this'll give you a chance to start saving your pennies. I'm looking at becoming a home owner within the next few months and me bestest friend in the world and major reason I ever got into Soundgarden, Lin, is going to share it with me. Problem: we both own alot of music stuff we're thinking we need to clear out, and that includes SOUNDGARDEN stuff. You listers are going to be the first people we offer this stuff to, and I'm talking posters, tee shirts, vinyl including some rare stuff. Unfortunately this WILL NOT be a giveaway, ok? We want at least what we paid for the stuff. I may even dig out a really rare MLB single and offer it. So the deal is, watch the list, I'd say within the next month. I have to prepare a list of what we have and once I have it ready to go, I'll post something to the list telling anyone interested to email me and I'll attach the list to them. So start saving up and consider this the best after-Christmas sale you ever ran across! later....deb ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 4 Jan 1998 23:54:50 EST From: Gardner167 Subject: sg using beatles riff???? this question goes out to the musicaly inclined sommsters....... go listen to "when my guitar gently weeps" (beatles-white album). listen to the guitar, and especially the bass line, then go listen to "the day i tried to live" notice anything similar? btw-- im leaving to chicago on wed... chicago sommsters, anything good goin' on? mike.
