Foreshocks is a rare and generally expensive promo. Karelian also wrote: > Finally, about that Kim Thayil interview in Guitar World. He says, "I don't > join people's bands, I start the fucking band. First off, Ben joined Soundgarden well into their career, > he didn't "start the fucking band." And didn't he join some other band after > SG broke up? (I don't know if that's true). It seems to me that Kim likes to make statements out of things that are close to true. What he says sounds good. It's firm and strong, and it's almost true. Yes, Ben joined after they were established, because before that Ben was playing in other bands that he started. It is debatable also to what degree Ben "joined" Devilhead. This is a complex issue and those of us who have tried to ferret out the absolute truth here are still left with unanswered questions. You must also realize that the people involved in these bands have known each other and worked with each other to some degree on and off for years, some of them since middle school. I don't think it's easy to say who "started" a lot of bands. For that matter Matt wasn't even an original SG member, and I was not under the impression that he started Skin Yard. So there ya go. Maybe what Kim is posturing here is that they aren't the type to just jump on someone else's train. They want to be in a position where they have input and their fair share of control, where they can shape the direction the band takes rather than just furthering someone else's idea that's already rolling. Anyway, I haven't been able to find the stinking magazine anywhere, so I don't have this quote in context to look at. I don't know where this came from (somewhere in my dreams) but I found one name........... I WISH I WAS SUSAN SILVER [as referring to you wishing not me :)]. I can't explain where I got that name (I've been caught in a mind riot). Kay, 'nuf with the badmotorfinger puns........ Karelian - Don't worry about the AOL SG board. AOL sucks anyway. You can goto this one: http://imusic.interserv.com/cgi-bin/bbs/bbs.cgi?x=sgarden we need more people talking about Soundgarden there instead of the stupid flame war going on...... And I think what Kim was referring to when he said "I don't join people's bands, I start the fucking band. That's true with anyone in Soundgarden." was post-breakup members of Soundgarden. And Matt didn't actually join the Pumpkins....... CTMc4 - Ack!! No more using Tool and SG (or Ben, Chris, Kim, Matt, Hiro, or [all your favorite] Jason's names) in the same sentence! Not after that rumour of Chris becoming lead singer of Tool!!!! :) OK I'm out /\ /\ 'o' -The Cat "It wouldn't pay me more to bury you rich then to bury you poor" ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 3 Jan 1998 11:02:42 -0500 From: Dave George-Cosh Subject: Guitar World Hey all ya Hootchies, I've been trying to check out Kim's interview and thought that Guitar World Online might have it. Boy, was I wrong. But there is a small review of A-Sides that I bet I've seen before, but a FUCKING wicked pic of SG with Chris's fork and all that. I'm guessing that Guitar World Online will update their site so people like us can get the interview. Also on that site, is a interview with the Tea Party, who I think need some recognition for their great efforts and music that they make. The lead singer, Jeff Martin, kinda looks like but damn well sounds like Jimmy Morrison, and if you don't believe me, go hunting around for a sound clip. And finally, I think that this site is the only time when Days of the New and Soundgarden are next to each other :) Dave P.S. Sure, we'll see all the crap 3-4 years ago that was overplayed, like, oh, I dunno....Touch, Peel, and Stand :), and 30 other pieces of crap, but the question remains? Will Soundgarden be on one of those cheesy compilations, like how we have disco compilations, and such. I personnally don't know what to say....but I'd like to hear what you have to say. As far as what it 'goes' for well that all depends....I know that I bought my copy for $9.00 and for the 10 or so people that I have bought SOMMS for in the past ( hence the name Blessed SOMMS Godess ) those disks cost me about $20 each. The price range on that item has always been either really high or really low....and I would have to say that there really isnt a 'usual' price for it. the list BSG Dena :)~ ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 4 Jan 1998 01:07:33 EST From: The Cat Subject: I've come baring answers rachel reisman - It took me ALL NIGHT to help you out and think up a suggestion for your SOMMS name and it hit me with a hand of broken nails.
