Hi everyone,=20 I don't post very often, but I just have to comment on this. Now Pablo, maybe you didn't mean it the way everyone is interpreting what you said.=20 Because I have had many guys telling me, 'Oh my God, I can't beleive I'm actually talking to a girl who likes Soundgarden as much as I do!' And m= y response to that is always, 'I love Soundgarden, why is that such a big deal?' I tell him that I know many, many girls who like Soundgarden and that we're all damn proud of it! =20 And when guys imply that girls like Soundgarden mainly because of Chris' looks, I tell them how wrong they are, at least it is for me. I just hat= e trying to prove my worthiness to Soundgarden. Why can't we girls just sa= y that we love Soundgarden and that we're fans of the BAND, without everyon= e jumping all over us? (YOU know what I mean :=DE) So that means that us girls can easily say that guys only like bands with girls in them because you think the girl is hot or whatever. And in some cases it may be true, but real and true fans like the music. =20 That's all I had to say, although most (or all) of it may have already be= en said, but oh well, at least the point is getting across. Until next time,=20 Karaoke ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 31 Dec 1997 11:20:39 -0600 From: Tom Gipson Subject: hiro can anyone tell me why hiro left the band? what ever happened to him? if he hasn't already, i think he should cut a record. if it sounds anything like "circle of power" hell i'd buy it, wouldn't you? is he currently in any bands? also, in the ultramega ok cd insert, it thanks bands like skin yard, screaming trees, etc. why? how come when i opened my inbox there's 8 messages about girls on the sg list? i deleted everyone. these messages didn't appear to be sg related,or of interest to the list. Subject: Re: hiro i'm not sure why he left, but he has made records. he's in a band called truly which i haven't heard yet, but i've heard it's good. maybe someone can fill me in on why hiro left. i'm sure i know, but i'm having a moment of temporary brain freeze. sarah =) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 31 Dec 1997 14:03:53 EST From: Gallagwar Subject: Re: hiro Hiro left the band mainly because of the difficult touring schedule. He had a family and touring was taking up too much of his time. I was very upset when he left the band. I model my bass play after him. Ben Shepherd is great but the band's focus on bass has diminished since Hiro left the band. He is currently in a band called Truly and they just came out with a new album. I recieved Mega Sounds not to long ago (Lollapalooza '96, ONT). It's a really good boot. I got it because it has BIMH (they have it as Burning in my Hand on the CD cover which makes me laugh :)). Now I just need to find a live version of BUTOW! Anyway, if you ever see it and are wondering, I think it's a good investment (but you don't have to take my opinion!! :) If anyone else out there has this, please let me know what you thought of it! As for the girls who have posted about the "GIRLY" post, I just have one thing to add: "AMEN!!!!!!!" Take care and be sweet!!! I was just wondering if that was because the list was in alphabetical order (by last name) or if whoever was in charge of compiling the soundtrack thought Sunshower was the best song on there [probably is the best :)]. I'm asking this cuz usually when movie commericals have the list of their soundtrack artists they put the most popular artist at the top. And this is unrelated and I know this isn't a movie mailing list but An American Werewolf in Paris gets my vote for worst movie of the year (I'm not just saying that because that shitty Bush song Mouth is played on the commercial....). The acting looks VERY crappy. Example: The part where that woman takes off her shirt and reveils werewolf skin and that guy screams. UGGHH.........that guy looks so stupid!!! I'm going to have nightmares :). Anyway Happy New Year. /\ /\ 'o' -The Cat "Words you say never seem to live up to the ones inside your head" ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 31 Dec 1997 22:44:06 -0600 From: Kathie and David Subject: Re: Apologies > My apologies to every woman in this list!!!! And thank you, Pablo, for your rational response to the flak you received :) I felt a little twinge when I read the *Chris* part of your message, but I understood the gist of what you were saying, so I kind of let it slide. Its so hard to describe the feelings I had the first time I experienced Soundgarden. The first thing I ever saw was the Loud Love video. And it was during a time when music was so totally boring (kind of like now). It was like a dream - I was mesmerized - not by Chris' looks, but by the whole *experience* - the energy was intoxicating. It was the music, especially Chris' lyrics, that attracted me, and then totally hooked me - from the very first time. Well the first SG cd I got was SU and for a while the only image I hade seen of the band was that blurry image on the back of the cd sleeve, I had felt no need to seek out and find out what these guys looked like, the music was all I cared for. At the time of SU coming out I did see the BHS vid but didn't take much notice of it or what the band looked like so the first time I really got a good look at them was in 96 in some magazine article which was long after I got in to the music. The music was the thing that caught my attention and thus far has maintained it.
