This has been confirmed by Morgan Engle at Loosegroove, the band's label. It has also been backed up by other sources who have talked personally with Ben about it. As far as his involvement in any current projects, and whether or not Hater still exists, or if Ben is still involved with Wellwater Conspiracy, those are things I am trying to find out, and if I hear anything definite I will let the list know. But the thing is, I've always had this bug up my ass towards reviews done by people who are bitter towards, or don't like the artist or group. Someone who likes the band or type of music should review. They should be honest and mention ups and the downs that the album may have, but it would give the reader an honest view of an artist he/she likes; not some blatantly ignorant bastard who's all bent out of shape over some personal thing and whatnot. As for Lolla '96, I went to the final show. Forget about the Soundgarden shirts(there were many), people with Metallica shirts were singing Soundgarden songs. So, now I try to give the angry reviewers a break, they were probably forced to do the review and were underpaid. Well, it's a loop of a motorcycle. Driving. heh.. Someone else put Jewel in a category with Puff Daddy, Marylin Manson, and Chumbawumba. What the fuck is that all about? Jewel is a great songwriter/performer, not to mention she has a great voice with universal range (a la cornell y buckley). But I guess since she didn't release a couple indie records on sub pop she's not cool. Maybe if she wore flannel and doc's and put out some colored vinyl you guys would like her, eh? Grunge is dead. "Grunge" is the label the corporate masses gave it, so it must be considered in their context. In their context it's dead. Maybe not in our context, but in the context from which it was created, it is dead. I wouldn't have thought of it if it wasn't being tossed around the SOMMS list. But I can hear the influence. Especially if you listen to the Beatles Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. Particularly A Day in the Life. And of course the Beatles wouldn't say that SG ripped them off! Just wanted to say Jordan that that post gave me a lil warm feelin.....I don't like Jewel personally, but I must give you props for stickin up for her. Almost wrote to stick up for Wu-Tang (yes I'm a damn fan!). Also, thank you for cluing people in on what Grunge is, it was just a way for old peeps to live out the 60s (Grunge was a fashion statement remember. I can remember lookin thru magazines w/ my momz at the time and she kept saying, "we used to look like that") again with a new twist (no offense to any "old peeps" y'all know what I'm tryin to say). It was never orginal. Music never dies, there will always be someone who likes a certain style. So who cares if mainstream America can't recognize good talent, do they really have that much control over you? I just wanna give props to those who still like the New Kids, I don't get them....but they at least are still true.
