Oh well, Nicky I gather you are referring to what I wrote... Are you sure you're not thinking about the Burden In My Hand single that was released in Australia, and included Karaoke, Bleed Together and Birth Ritual (demo)? That came w/a poster. I was specifically referring to the release of *BT* as a single. That was what Lee was commenting on. Not that it has never been released on anything before. I switched the station and there was that unmistakable voice floating out of the shitty radio in my car sounding like an angel to me! But after they split, I didn't hear a single Soundgarden song for four months. Not even the day they broke up! Then on Thanksgiving day, 95.9 (Greatest Station EVER, for those of you from Joisey, you'll know what I'm talkin' about), they played a Soundgarden Turkey day marathon. They played all of A-Sides plus Sunshower and some other songs the DJ wanted to play. Before that day, I hadn't listened to the radio in 2 months. Since then, I haven't turned the radio off cuz they're playin' so much SG. People around here are finally becoming fans. And I tell them all "It's about time but I think you're 8 months too late" No one listened to what I was sayin' the years previous to that so why should I listen to them now. I've been able to download it and listen to it, but for some reason I am unable to save it. I have not heard the whole song so that soundclip will have to hold me over until January 6th. I don't know if my opinion will really count since I have not heard the whole thing, but from what I heard, I like the song! I did not get the impression of a pop rock song or a soft rock song. For anyone who thinks Chris is going in that direction or fears that he will, must realize something. "Ave Maria" was a *cover* song! When the boys covered Devo's "Girl U Want" or The Rolling Stones "Stray Cat Blues", they didn't sound like SG songs. Especially that "Touch Me" song! So I think everyone should put their minds at rest about "Ave Maria". And "Sunshower" is *one* song on a soundtrack. I don't think that really points to anything either. Chris once said that doing side projects was a way of getting out material that wouldn't otherwise be heard. Getting material out there that wouldn't fit on a SG record. Maybe that's what he's doing now. We don't know how old "Sunshower" is. He could have written it 4 months ago or 4 years ago. We have no way of knowing unless he tells us. Maybe this is a way of getting a song that's been around a while, that wouldn't fit on a SG record, out there for people to hear. I could be wrong and am fully ready to accept that, but it is something to consider. And maybe it will put some minds and hearts at ease until we hear his solo album. Only then will we know what he's up to. :) (Author's note: For anyone who thinks I've forgotten about their disbanding because I refer to the whole band and the songs they covered, should not think I'm crazy. :) I'm simply referring to them in the case of Chris because we have not heard an album from him since the breakup. If it had been Matt or Ben then I would have had WWC or Hater to refer to, but I haven't heard any of their records so I wouldn't post in regard to them because I wouldn't know what I was talking about. :) May Soundgarden be with you. Am I the only one who strongly believes he sings 'grace'? Listen rrreeeeeaaaaalllllllll close and crank up the volume (which should already be a natural instinct :)) on that part. It helps if you taped the song on a very high grade tape (like I did). Anyway, listening rrreeeeeaaaaalllllllll close you will hear Chris actually says 'grace', supported by the split-second 'ssss' sound he makes (he makes no hard 'v' sound which would be required). I could see where you guys would have mistaken it for graves, cuz it does sound like it. Sorta......again thanks to Niki for giving us the lyrics :). Still haven't heard Ave Maria, maybe I'll go to that site Michelle gave us. But I did see that dreadful No Doubt video on MTV today. Whoever said it rocked was wrong :). Pretty chessey video, okay song but it will get annoying in a few days cuz MTV will play it over and over and over and over.......... Last, when I asked if Touch Me was the shortest SG song I got mixed up. I actually meant She's A Politican which neither Hellboy nor me are fond of. Touch Me is weird.......unlike Soundgarden to me, maybe because of the duet with Stephanie Barber. But somehow this song reminds me of Sub Pop Rock City.....I don't know :). On the subject of b-sides Show Me is one of my fav songs and the Burden in My Hand single (which all I know of is the only single to have Bleed Together) has one of the best pictures of Soundgarden I've seen IMHO.
