Couple of things: 1) Someone said: > Woh, just got Jordan's message! Heretic was > on the Pump Up The Volume MPS, I think mate. Yeah, but it's not a different version than the two I mentioned in my earlier post... There were only 2 versions of Heretic recorded. 2) Days Of The New They are just another band riding the wave. The dude sounds just like that "I swear I didn't do a thing" guy..remember that song? I forget the bands name. Probably cause they suck and are just riding the wave as well. 3) To those bagging on Little Joe You suck. Little Joe is genious. It's called comic relief... you know, like in Shakespeare or something, when everyone's dying and some dude cracks a joke. I AM LITTLE JOE. and I am running for the border to escape all you hosers who don't get it, eh? 3) Someone said the new Truly CD is not available yet. It was released on October 28th I believe. It IS available, but since it's on an indie label it'll be hard to find. Different from Kid Coma but still good. Dissapointed in Robert's vocals on this one though... Oh, and Hiro cut his hair and is starting to look old. heh... 4) Someone said: > this is not a cut or anything.... but I SWEAR to god > I sent this info to the list a month ago.... even w/ the > kids name. did no one read this??? huh... But alas, I don't recall a post containing the words of the Papasan himself. And sorry, I'm usually busy skipping all of the messages about "Where can I find a copy of Badmotofinger/Sawms?!?" and "I'm sad that the band broke up" and "I am Chris' sex whore slave." Plus, I'm only a new Soundgarden fan. I don't know anything. The only reason I listen to them is cause of Chris' awesome body. Can someone tell me where I can buy some bootlegs? I'm also looking for a copy of Screaming Life on CD. I will pay lots of money for it! 5) Oh, I almost forgot. He also told me that Hiro was *laid off* from his job! =( Whoa! Anyway, the guy's really nice, his name is Andy and he *supposedly* wrote lyrics for the Truly album also. Don't know how true some of this stuff is but I thought I'd let you know all about what's up w/ Hiro's life (more personal stuff than we normally hear about him) since we hear about Chris, Kim, Matt, and Ben all the time. Initiation was tough, wasn't it? :) Now the people of SOMMS can witness our random fits and rants....or at least mine.....:) Matt Hammons- your e-mail address sounds familiar. Do you post at the SG Fan Board? I've posted there more than usual now, since I've found what the problem with my username was....... Recently I've heard Touch Me.....that has got to be the song that is least like Soundgarden. Anyone else agree? Sounds to be like a bit of 80's heavy metal glam-rock......does this song get the award of 'Shortest Soundgarden Song'? Last thing......anyone have a REAL good collection of bootlegs? I would LOVE to hear Soundgarden's covers of Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' and Pearl Jam's 'Alive'....I'm wondering how Soundgarden covered them, faithful or with their own twist on them. Here in England the Pretty Noose single contained an interview with SG by Eleven, any of you lot heard that? Some of it is really funny (Ben being reliably daft as usual, talking about his "orange marmalade" set of songs, how he wanted to call the album 'Comin' Atcha' and how 'An Unkind' is "mean on your pinky"). Hey ho, individual message time.... ANGELA - Cheerz for the nice comments on our green and pleasant land, much appreciated, glad you like my home. NIKI - I haven't heard Sunshower (you jammy americans don't know how lucky you are getting SG on the radio, I dream of hearing SG on the radio!) but the lyrics sound great and make it seem like a really emotional song (hell, this is Chris were talking about here, of course it'll be emotional), dead honest. Thanks for that. SARAH - Thanx for the small talk. Sorry about the 'all americans hate brits' thing, just me being paranoid, it happens anytime I encounter you. SORRY! I'm from Sheffield but I'm at university in Hull at the moment. CAT - Yeah, initiation was pretty hellish but I'll live. Matt joining SP or REM? Sounds more plausible than the Tool rumour (which idiot started that one?) and I dig both those bands so great (if it comes true). Mind you I always thought he'd just become a jazz drummer, coz that was his hobby or something. Anyone know about Ben or Kim? I know that Kim is cobbling all the compilations together (vids, b-sides, rarities etc) and the last I heard of Ben was that he'd formed a new band with Matt, an ex-Monster Magnet guitarist and some other guys. What's going on? Gotta go, catch you later. Hellboy ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Nov 1997 13:55:37 +0200 From: Mika Piirainen Subject: Re: Nine Inch Techno? Talentless Pumpkins? I dont think anyone else has written about this yet about the CD. The length of the CD is 79:03. Now, this doesnt seem weird. But from being around a lot of recording EQ and knowlege of CDS. CD's only can hold 74 minutes of stuff. Does anyone know how they did this? 5 minutes of extra stuff isnt just stuff you squeeze on. Well, I am glad they fit it all onto one CD, cause I didnt want to pay like $25 for a double CD, I am waiting for next year when the rumored 40 song double cd comes out by Soundgarden. -Nick ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Nov 1997 14:27:45 -0600 From: Richard E Horner Subject: Re: A-Sides >The length of the CD is 79:03. Does anyone know how they did this? 5 minutes of extra >stuff isnt just stuff you squeeze on. Well, I am glad they fit it all Well, remember when floppy disks couldn't even hold a meg? A cd is bound by the amount of info it can hold. If you make the cd a greater capacity (i.e. by writing closer to the edges) it'll hold more music. This is not the first instance of 74+ minute cds. Metallica's Load was 78:59 which is only 4 seconds less than A-sides. I'm pretty sure that when you buy writable cds you have the choice of 650 megs and a large size whose value escapes me at the moment. Eplanation of why Matt will NEVER join Pumpkins. I recall a certain Kim Thayil insulting Billy Corgan. Billy broke into tears. I doubt he'd want to associate with any ex-SGer. What a great simile... Matt Cameron as Jimi Hendrix...that's got to be one of the ultimate compliments said about Matt. And I most certainly agree with Dezhy when she said that. I mean, comparing a great with another great...that's gotta be incredible. More power to Matt in all he does. I personally think that what he's doing now is perfectly fine..not that it ultimately matters if I agree with his life decisions.. I'm just agreeing with his decisions as they are now. If Matt wanted to join the Pumpkins, REM, or even Metallica then hell, he should go do it because he wants to and if it works out then that's awesome! I mean, we all have our opinions that, well, you know, Matt's got this diversified sound and most of the time we can't image him with certain bands. Kinda like Matt working with Manson.. I mean, most of us would think "No way! Matt would never do that..." . Well, never say never when it comes to a person like Cameron (or any person with such amazing skills and ideas). Who would've knew that Matt would be working with a full orchestra? Or that he was crazy about Jazz? From a distant eye, no one would've believed that because he was "Soundgarden's drummer..and Soundgarden is the grungy metal band, blah blah blah...." Anything could happen, but whatever happens I feel that Matt will be successful with it anyways. Happy Thanksgiving & Happy Birthday Matt (a little early but oh well)!!
