When i first saw the video on MTV my thought was "?!?!?!?!" OH!!! wait, no it's not." ( i remind you this thought required less than the amout of time it took me to recognize the song--since they play it a lot in Vegas-- It all occured in less than a nano-second.) any way, I think Travis resembles a mix of Chris's superunknown days with his Screaming life/FOPP (conicidentally i just picked up the book intitled Screaming Life --a histiroy of the seattle musci scene-- and only for 3$ NEW!! pretty good for a normally 35$ book. anyways) so there you go. I personally like SG's better...more sloppy...more rock n roll...but the Devo version is awesome too. the key is...U = You...like 2 = Two, 4 = For, MF = you get the drift....Prince (whatever his name is now) has been doing that shit for years. "2 sexy 4 U MF" is a TAFKAP song >can someone explain what my mind was doing? nope ramblings: I wonder if Kim T's vinyl collection contains _Shabooh Shabah_? (spelling errors all me)...i bet it does. I still havent heard ave maria or sunshower...it doesnt surprise me that it's fluff. Anyone heard the Shepherd side project...instrumental driving music for felon's? I know it's been released on 10". Truly fans...you can preorder the new album from the rodeo records website. No release date has been set. I'm disappointed that Bleed Together wasnt released as a proper 2 part single :) I wanted to hear the 11th different version of FoBD :))) oh lighten up! :) um...without starting a flamefest...if you for some reason like that days of the new stuff...buy Alice in Chain's _Dirt_. It's a much better record. If that is too hardrock and not poppy enough for you...buy Mad Season's only release. Okay, first things first.....I have the Days of the New CD (which I bout for $3) and the lead singer looks NOTHING like Chris nor sounds like him. In the Touch, Peel and Stand video he sorta looks like Chris, but not sound like him. I agree that Travis Meeks (that's his name :)) sounds more like a mix of Eddie Vedder and L. Stanley, not much Chris if any. But I swear, one of the guitarists looks ALMOST EXACTLY like Chris in one of the pics. He even sports a goatee. Those of you who have the CD look at the lyrics to Whimsical..... I haven't listened to most of the CD though. I just got it a few days ago with some others. But I get a bad feeling about a CD when a 'Includes the Hits: some song, some other one' sticker lists the first two songs of the CD....... On to Matt, I'm sure Billy Corgan would LOVE to have Matt Cameron in Smashing Pumpkins (remember what Billy said at the MTV Music award two years ago?), but NEVER will it happen. If Matt Cameron joined the Smashing Pumpkins they would have to change their style of music altogether. Matt's drumming style is way too complicated for bands that play mainstream music (no offense to SP fans :)). Saying Matt will join SP is like saying Chris will join Tool (lets not speak of that again :))..........I also think Billy Corgan harbors a deep wish to be from Seattle and wished to be a part of the now defuncted Seattle underground scene. Wonder if Chris is joing Eleven, maybe after his solo album? He could sing vox (with Alain and Natasha who already do) and play rhythm or lead guitar. That would be cool..... Matt Cameron did drums on four tracks of Eleven's album 'Thunk'. Just thought you'd like to know :). What are your favorite Soundgarden songs? Some of mine are The Day I Tried to Live, Pretty Noose, Zero Chance, Outshined, JCP...... well the list goes on. I've run out of stuff to say so I'll stop.... I'm pretty sure there are only two versions. And the only reason why there are two versions is because the original Deep Six version had Scott Sundquist on drums. So they re-recorded it 3 yearts later with Matt. And I'm pretty sure there weren't any other versions recorded after the '88 version, because it happened right around Loud Love, and as we all know, Hiro left after this. Well, Hiro wrote the lyrics, so with the death of Hiro came the death of his song. And stuff. PS, I've gotten a few death threats for my Ate My Balls pages. Good call Kris. --Jeff ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Nov 1997 20:17:03 -0500 From: Jeff LeAnn Subject: Matt I think that it may be a good Idea for Matt to join the Pumpkins, but you also must realize that this is music, not pro sports, and drummers (or musicians, espically big-name ones like Matt Cameron) don't go hopping around from band to band, espically when Soundgarden had so much more talent than the pumpkins. Besides the Pumpkins are like house-techno like Nine Inch Nails or something like that. So what it all boils down to is...it would be nice for Matt to join the Pumpkins, but my friends, it ain't gonna happen. --Jeff ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Nov 1997 20:19:55 -0500 From: Nick Boos Subject: Matt & Little Joe Yeah I must say that I did kind of laugh when I first heard little joe, its still a kick ass song. Okay, a coupla weeks ago or so, we had this discussion on the list. I don't want to be Seth's lil henchman (cuz i'm not) but he told us that we shouldn't discuss this on the list or something like that. I mean obviously the guy does bear a similarity to Chris, you must be blind if you can't see at least a little of it. But who cares, the band sux, and so duz he, and I'm sick of hearing about it. I dunno, discus it off this list or something. this does not need to be a goddamn thread. Come on y'all let's get our creative juices flowing. thank you. Oh and Matt in Smashing Pumpkins......has anyone looked/heard the mass amount of talent that Matt has? Right on to the guy that said Matt never plays the same beat or whatever twice......and all SP is is repetitiveness. They may sound pretty in your ears, but they basically lack orignality (eg. this Manson phase Billy's goin thru) and the raw talent and emotion that Matt can produce....That's like puttin Hendrix in for Hanson. Matt's a well rounded muscian and who knows what he will play and what his axe will be....But I don't know Matt.....maybe he likes the Mooshing Gourds.
