I've already got two (Deep Six and Loudest Love), and I recall hereing yet another version on a soundtrack, or was this just like the Loudest Love recording? Andy ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Nov 1997 16:27:25 +0100 From: Johan Nilsson Subject: A-Sides in Sweden. Finally A-sides have arrived to Sweden.. I don't really see a point in reviewing it because i guess that everyone on this list already got the material that's on it. But I have to say something about what i think about A-Sides coming to Sweden 21 days after the usa release. I personally think that sucks. I don't think Soundgarden ever liked or cared about sweden that much (if I'm wrong please correct me). On the last tour they played one show in sweden and that one was to far away for me to see.. Enough about that. Me myself had Bleed Together before but only on tape but I must say that I like it, but i don't really understand why they put it on A-Sides which far as I understand is a best of.. I really missed Somewhere on A-sides because it is one of my fav songs.. That was all i had to say. And all you swedes out there, send some mail to rock@p3.sr.se and request bleed together.. Big Dumb Swede ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Nov 1997 15:56:29 -0800 From: Christopher P Holt Subject: CC Singer for Tool? CC Radio Performance, new SG, and THE CAT..... Hey peoples. I'm new here. After hearing a few people who were in SOMMS I've decided to join :). So here's my story: First time I ever heard Soundgarden was while watching 'Beavis and Butthead' (don't laugh :)) and in two episodes I saw in the same week I witnessed Rusty Cage and Outshined. I thought they were cool, and I got Badmotorfinger (on tape), I was too much into Metallica and Pearl Jam at the time. A few years passed. Then I saw Spoonman on MTV, which I was convinced was a cool song. But then.....Black Hole Sun! I'd hate to admit this was the song that made me get more serious into Soundgarden but it did. Love that song still. Anyway, when I first listened to it I hated it but then I started liking it. Not loving it....that would come later. A few years passed. I didn't notice Down on the Upside was released (which to this day I don't know the exact date it was released....could somebody tell me? :)), I heard Pretty Noose, Burden in My Hand, and Blow Up the Outside World in a DotU radio block on The End, the local radio station. That did it. I went out and got Down on the Upside. Which is my favorite SG album. Then I listened to Badmotorfinger and Superunknown a lot more, started loving them. Then I listened to their older stuff, loved it too. Then I listened to Temple of the Dog (one of my favorites). And then Soundgarden broke up. Being a late SG fan I've never seen them live. And I had a chance to buy a ticket!!!!! Well, now I've pretty much gotten over the breakup but I've gone into a state I like to call 'Buy everything Soundgarden' so I've gone mad :). I've just read 'Soundgarden, New Metal Crown" by Chris Nickson so I've gotten more insight on the history of the band. I can't believe four individuals so talented and with that much repect for each other and each other's talents could call it quits just like that. Wish there was more on why they broke up, but I repect their decision........ I live in Seattle, and I also can't believe this whole underground scene here happened without me ever noticing...... Anyway. Read on the SG Fan Board at "http://imusic.com/cgi-bin/bbs" that Chris Cornell is the new singer for Tool (?). I don't know where that came from, but I'll bet that rumor is untrue...... On to another subject, after the first time I've heard Sunshower, the radio station DJ (or whatever you call them people) said he would have loved to get Chris to do a live acoustic performance at the station. So a week later I called and they said they were working on it. I urge you Seattlelittes to BUG THEM TO HELL about getting Chris to do a performance!!!!!!!! :). Call (206) 421-1077. Anyone know anything about the Soundgarden live/b-side/rare 40 song album that is supposedly to be released late '98? I read from www.mtv.com and in this month's Guitar World that Kim would love to release one. 40 songs!!!!!!!. I've also read from Imusic that Kim would love to do a SG Videography too......all SG's videos unedited. Can't believe MTV edited EVERY SG video they have ever shown, except I think for Jesus Christ Pose, which they banned later...... (in my opinion anyway) Saying that that singer sounds a lot like Chris leads me to believe that we are not talking about the same Chris. Listen to Zero Chance and Black Days and Jesus Christ Pose... then listen to some Days of the New. And I mean *listen*. Not just to the accent or melody but to the texture and timbre in their voices. I find them more than a little different. (in my opinion anyway) I think he's more of a mix of E. Vedder/L. Stanley...and maybe a small dose of Chris. I don't know about looks though. He does sport a cool 'stash. Xanadu ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Nov 1997 23:08:02 -1200 From: Kris Subject: Matt Cameron Hello everyone. I just came to implant an idea in your nice little skulls. Here's the idea. Ready?............ What if Matt joined the Smashing Pupkins? I love them too and Matt Walker just quit the Pumpkins to become a full time member of a band called the cupcakes. This leaves them looking for an available drummer. If Matt Cameron were to fill in the shoes of their previous drummers (Chamberlain/Walker), I think he would do an incredible job! In all the years with Soundgarden, he had done the most complex beats that I have ever heard that fit a song (other than solo artists). I am a drummer and it is hard to see how this god of drums or anyone could accomplish such tasks. He never repeated the same beat twice (well almost), he switched the rythm with ease, and invented some pretty good fast shit (JCP). He was also great at making up fills and what not where need be. So, if Matt is reading this, at least try out with them and see how it goes. I would really like to see one of my favorite drummers end up with another one of my favorite bands. Well, why would HE listen ME! I'm just some crazy little fucked up teen that adored Soundgarden since the first time I heard them. Just one out of mere thousands. Later people's :) Kris Heremansen ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Nov 1997 18:02:20 +1300 From: Alicia U Subject: Re: days of the new Nope,IMO that dude *definitely* doesn't sound like Chris at all. But looks a lot like badmotorfinger era Chris. First time when I saw the video for the touch, peel song I thought shit that guy must be Chris's long lost twin brother BUT someone told me that the singer is 18 years old so it's not possible. BTW, in Channel Z (a radio station in Auckland), Bleed Together came 2nd in 9 most requested track yesterday. Number 1 was that Days of the new song "Touch, peel whatever" OK let me also add that DOTN guitarist is damn *HOT*...hehehe Now I'll go studying. Are you talking about the part where chris sings "We can bleed together..."? i think he overdubs "fuckin' bleed" right after that part. kevin ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Nov 1997 16:03:38 +1100 From: Greg Dunbar Subject: Re: Matt Cameron >Hello everyone.
