My friend reminded herself today to tell me that she saw "someone from Soundgarden" on the television. I thought she was kidding the heck outta me again.. But after promising me a few times that it was true, I kinda believed her and she gave me a few details. Kim was on Sunday night on this cable show on channel 19. It's like this educational station. And she was channel surfing and saw a glimpse of what she thought was Chris. So she stopped to see just in case she had to call me. It was Chris, in the Black Hole Sun video. She watched it a little and Kim came on and they had him talk about the band, but more especially, the reason of the split up. Of course she has no further details, but hopefully it'll come on again. I checked the t.v. guide for yesterday to see what show it might have came on and it could be either be "New Music" or "Conversations". I never watch these educational channels and I surely didn't expect so much to see any member of Soundgarden on there, so I'll look out for a possible re-run! It's a change of news, but at least it's something. I agree it is alot like Seasons, the same feel seasons had, but I dunno, just not as good (in my opinion). I really hate to say this about anything done by Chris, but it almost reminded me of some acoustic '80s Bon Jovi something or other..just my impression of it. Chris really didn't vary his vocals as much as he does in most of his stuff, and I found it to be alot less interesting as a song since he mainly stuck to a single range. Towards the end of the song (like the last minute or so) I thought it really started to sound pretty cool, but it never really quite hit it's potential. Still better than any of the crap on the radio, but sub par for Chris. Larry -- "Close the door and the pull the shades and climb the walls.." I was wondering if anyone has these parts as far as I know, that part's on everyone's copy ;) the lyrics you quoted are (from memory) at the very end of the song, in the right (?) channel only. you'll hear them if you listen closely. try headphones directly after the bridge, perhaps during the final chorus. does chris sing them? I'm not sure. he either sang them and then altered them or they were electronically generated to begin with. sorry for the cobwebs. justin ------ and I'm lost behind the words I'll never find and I'm left behind as the seasons roll on by - words by chris cornell ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Nov 1997 17:41:59 -0600 From: Mike Ferguson Subject: Kim and the guitar thing >Date: Thu, 20 Nov 1997 19:13:43 -0500 >From: Deborah Servey >Subject: Re: new >if anyone cares or wants to hear this...my best friend and I know Jeff >Gilbert, journalist, etc., and friend of Kim Thayil...he says Kimster >hasn't even touched a guitar since the break-up. reactions? This is just me being an asshole journalist... please don't take it for truth, just for speculation. No shocker, honestly. Actually, it's pretty surprising, considering that he's one of those modern day guitar gods, but unsurprising in the sense that I would expect him to want time off more than anyone else. Any interview I've ever read, Kim always talks about the area... how much he enjoys it. The life there. What he thinks of it. He never starts talking about the band until he's questioned. Music might not be number one on Thayil's list now, nor has it been for a long time. I'm not saying that he wasn't excited when the band started out. But after a while, it's obvious that it just becomes grudging. And anybody who knows depression--or even intense frustration--knows the feeling of being away from something that was the root of your problems. And you're really happy because you're away from it. Back to normal. But then you get back into it... whatever the hell it is. Maybe Kim was just pissed with everything going on. You never know. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Nov 1997 12:02:13 +1100 From: Robert Joseph Hutchinson Subject: request hey everybody make a request for bleed together on the triple j request fest tonight, especially if youre in australia, even if youre not. the address is: address is www.abc.net.au/triplej/requests/default.htm i dont know the phone or fax numbers go do it now!!!!!!! thanks rob go do it now ------------------------------ End of SOMMS Digest - 24 Nov 1997 to 25 Nov 1997 ************************************************
