I have New Metal Crown, too. It does not say that the bodyguard was hired to keep them away from each other, it says he was hired to protect them from themselves-- to keep them from getting into trouble and into fights (with other people, not each other) more than to keep other people from molesting them. There was a time there when they got into a few scuffles and things in bars and a few lawsuits. Guess they felt they needed a chaperone. As for Kim, well, I haven't been much of a musician long enough to say much about it, except that in the short time I have been playing bass I have rarely missed a day of playing, and when I went out of town for 4 days without it I about went nuts. I am a serious photographer, though, and it has been the main focus of my art for 17 years now. I did go through a period when I was just burned out. I took snapshots-- trips, holidays, etc., took very few art shots, and did absolutely no darkroom work for well over a year. Then I got back into it with, I must say, renewed vigor. But I still go off it now and then for months at a time. I find other things I'd rather be doing, like playing bass, or drawing, or writing. If Kim has other creative outlets to fall back on, maybe it's no big deal. I certainly hope it's no big deal! Hope this is articulate. I'm in some sort of fucking shock right now. MTV just flashed that Michael Hutchence was found dead in his hotel room. It's been one hell of a year, hasn't it? He should create a somewhat different persona now that he's gone solo. By the way, tonight I learned my first chords on the guitar, and my first song to learn was "Fluttergirl." Isn't that great? No? Oh well. Bye then. Bill ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 22 Nov 1997 10:45:39 -0500 From: Deborah Servey Subject: icq? Not to Sg related but I was wondering if anyone on the list uses icq? I just got it 2 weeks ago.... and the specualtion and comments about Kim not touching a guitar since the break up.....Jeff Gilbert meant he has NOT so much as touched a guitar at all. HMV (yuck go support your independent record stores) felt nice enough to stick a sticker saying 'Contains Soundgardens all time greatest songs' or some crap like that. I guess since it didn't have Greatest hits in the title HMV thought it better tell everyone.... And you wonder why you should support independent record shops :) Anyway yeah it's out, run down the shop now, grab a copy and one for all your friends of christmas :) seeya Lee ***** DEF FX/ GARBAGE/ SOUNDGARDEN/ SONIC YOUTH/ RHCP/ SPIDERBAIT/ MAGIC DIRT/ ATARI TEENAGE RIOT/ REPUBLICA/ GRAVELRASH/ PEARL JAM/ FREE KITTEN/ ANGELFISH/ ICQ UIN: 1592130 http://student.uq.edu.au/~ar303921 "I'm sorry I was cruel, I forgot to kiss you..... Kutz" Subject: Inflatable Soule does anyone know what's up with this band? does anyone even know who they are? the last i heard anything about them was a couple years ago. I've seen 'em play twice, and at the first time i signed up on their mailing list, except i never got anything. I don't know if anyone even has a clue who this band is, but for those who don't know-it is related to soundgarden-LITERALLY. =) anyway, the second time I saw them i got the opportunity to meet the lead singer who- strangely enough- looked an awful lot like a certain Chris we all know and love. at any rate-before i met him i noticed a girl asking him if she could interview him for her school newspaper at a different time. he said yes and said that the number to reach him at was Susan Silver Managment and the phone number wsa inside the CD cover. Apparently he worked there. I wonder what happened to that now that Susan Silver Managment is no more? okay, long enough! reply with insights! =) sarah =) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 22 Nov 1997 12:30:29 -0800 From: "S. Kutz" Subject: pretty noose box a while back i happened across this really cool british import cd box that was for the single of Pretty Noose. it also contains applebite, an unkind, and an interview with Eleven's Natasha and Alain. It came with a poster promoting Down on The Upside (the cover picture) and the box is red. The thing I"m curious about is that on the cover of the box it says "Pretty Noose Part 2 of a 2 cd set" Anyone know where i can get the 1st part? Anyone know if the first part even exists? thanks! sarah =) "so easy to read when she's faking her smile" ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 22 Nov 1997 16:03:09 -0500 From: Angela Woolley Subject: Re: Inflatable Soule In a message dated 97-11-22 15:47:05 EST, sjkutz@U.WASHINGTON.EDU writes: << does anyone know what's up with this band? >> Peter Cornell (formerly?) of Inflatable Soule played here in Portland recently for the NXNW music conference. He was to do a mainly acoustic set with another person (whose name I cannot recall), but he appeared under his own name and not I.S. Didn't see the show, though :-( Question time, and shame on me for not knowing this, but where is the song Fluttergirl from? There's been mention of it several times lately and alas, I have never heard this song. Saddened to hear of Michael Hutchence. If you look closely at the Sam perkins/Cornell photo awhile back, Cornell's hair is slicked back and looks longer than before so i think he's growing it out somewhat. Ben shaved his head!! COOL!!! So did I!! I haven't realized how weird i look without any hair, but it looks alright. Sort of.. Ben had sucky frizzy hair that wouldn't really do anything, and so did I, so I guess we both just got rid of it and we won't have to worry about it. Hm... they're finally playing Bleed together on the radio over here, and it's doing pretty well. Bye -Bye, " slammin' WOO!! Jammin' WOO!!!
