It's probably because, since the general public's interest in Soundgarden has pretty much dropped off (especially since the breakup), the interest in the video has dropped off. I loved it, personally. It's got a great Slaves and Bulldozers, a wonderful Mind Riot, the infamous "codeine nose" bit, the "haunted dentist's office" bit, and J. P. Patches to boot! Plus, since the stores in my area aren't interested in rock and roll anymore, it's one of the few live performances I can find. (the only other one I found was the Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle, 1990) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 Nov 1997 00:09:41 -0600 From: Richard E Horner Subject: BLEED TOGETHER AT HARDRADIO! For those of you who haven't heard Bleed Together, its at: http://www.hardradio.com/hr3lead.html Theres a REALLY wierd picture by the link to bleed together. Its like some red dude grasping his head, and hes wearing a robe. It says SOUNDGARDEN BLEED TOGETHER. I've never seen it. Ohh well. There are also very cool songs by many of my favorite metal bands so check it out anyway. That could back up people's dicussion on whether or not Like Suicide is full of deep meaning or not. So it may be very possible that they may lie in their songs. That's how I mostly interpret it too. The part about society being the "Outside world" seems very definite. I also wanted to add to the words: "Want to make it understood Wanting though I never would....( basically the whole bridge part)": sometimes he wants everyone to understand hime so he can communicate with them in a seemly intelligent way. He also wants everyone to understand how they act in this fake existance and it seems like people are so manufactured to believe, think, and act in the same way these days. He wishes he could entirely turn the world around, or "blow up", and teach them to think in a totally different way but not exactly alike or alike him. So this morning I got up and transcribed it cause I was taping it of course, just for all you spuds out there or beautiful mutants as Mark Mothersbaugh would put it. Well here's a transcript of events: ~>Bronwyn Kelly ____________________________________________________________ Rage ABC TV 8/11/97 Programmed by Devo [Jerry seated on a chair in front of a set of glass French doors, with Mark, Bob 1 and 2 behind the door pressing their faces against the glass and making faces] Hi it's Jerry again from Devo.. um.. in a shameless bid of self promotion, I'd like to uh show you this next video it happens to be one I directed.. uh for a band I happen to like a lot not so much for their music but who they are as people [Mark makes a wanking gesture behind] and the fact that they actually took making videos seriously and always wanted the video to fit the song, which is something that probably most people today forget.. uh in the endless parade of pseudo-commercials masquerading as videos. I've always having been on the other end of it for the last 17 years, I've thought that the video should be rewarded not just songs, it seems that video programmers have forgotten that, Soundgarden didn't and never have and this one is Blow Up The Outside World a sentiment that Devo these guys back here and myself resonated with from the beginning. Money will never fail us - a greatest hits package not even seven months after the band breaks up, and we even get a single! http://imusic.interserv.com/soundgarden/sg3/discography2/bleed-1.html -seth ------------------------------ End of SOMMS Digest - 8 Nov 1997 to 9 Nov 1997 **********************************************
