Umm, quite a few of us understand you Jill. I just named one of my new cats Ben. Now I get to say "Ben" a zillion times a day without pissing off my husband. Should you see a psychologist? Depends on whether or not you want to remain obsessed with SG. I sure don't want to change! Anybody else out there want to change? The song was Spoonman and caused myself and koggle to be the only one's jumping around out front :) much to the distress of our friends I assume :) Now if only they could play as good as the original..I guess that just asks to much. Just had a listen to Exit Stonehenge for the first time...umm interesting :) I like it!!! Anyone in Brissy spoted A-sides? Not htat I have looked too hard, bvut I haven't seen it around. More looking forward to this b-side release thing that is ment to be happening, now that sounds really good. seeya Lee Turn it up and PLAY IT LOUD Let the blood rush to your head. A postcard from KOTS announcing the release of "A-Sides"! How did this happen? I'm not even a member! KOTS is an unusual phenomenon. I remember stuff like this happening last year with the Christmas packages they sent out. You guys remember those, don't you? I didn't get one, but alot of non-KOTS members sure did! I suggest everybody keep an eye on their mail; member or not. May Soundgarden be with you. Rebekah ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 Nov 1997 10:18:46 -0800 From: "S. What xmas package was this? i've been getting cool mailers for a couple years (sometimes some from other bands-ie silverchair) but never anything ultra-cool like an xmas package! i'm really jealous! Anyway I've scored bigtime on some singles: FOBD, BHS and PN, all promos, to the killer price of $25 for the lot! Well, anyway, before I left the list I promised some people some singles (FOBD cd-single). Contact me cause I don't know who you are. I also have an extra copy of Truly's Heart and Lungs ep (out of production, extremely rare...) AND for those Metallica-fans I once disappointed by telling them that I could get Until it sleeps on 10" LimEd red vinyl, well... I've have another one in my possession right now (I bought it this time). Just contact me if you're interested. There are no plans to desert the operation even though the band no longer exists and there's even the possibility they may reissue more old memorabilia (like BMF and pre-BMF-era t-shirts, etc.). Merchandise orders are currently on hold as their supplier was bought by another, but there is talk of purchasing the merchandise in advance in the future and then selling it direct from KOTS headquarters to speed delivery. As for receiving things without being a member of the club, the same happened to me. I've never joined KOTS but I've been getting the postcards and the X-mas packages, too. My only guess is that they took our addresses when that knucklehead Nothingman posted them to the list during the shirt fiasco many moons ago. -seth ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 Nov 1997 19:35:37 -0500 From: Catherine Veit Subject: Re: hands all over you guys, come on!!!! he's just playing around..... don't take him so seriously!!! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 Nov 1997 19:45:14 -0500 From: Jenny Grover Subject: Motorvision???? What the hell is the story with Motorvision these days? Does anybody know? It has disappeared from every mailorder place that had it not long ago. A friend has been trying to find it. KOTS told her to try Tower. Tower said they can't get it. Blockbuster said there is "a moratorium on sales of it until further notice." A moratorium? What is this all about?? Jen ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 Nov 1997 16:59:09 -0800 From: "S. Kutz" Subject: Re: KOTS ---> My cool mail! Okay, it was anna's fault if no one wants to hear about this! =) it has nothing to do with annoying mailers any of you may have gotten, but way back in 1994, there was a Rolling Stone cover with Soundgarden on it. REmember it? Anyway, I took it with me to my second SG concert at the Memorial stadium in seattle, y'know, just in case. =) well, nothing happened, but then I got this brilliant idea-->why not try sending the picture to SG and asking them to autograph it? (Honestly! this has worked with people I know. my neighbor's dad sent a pic to the Beatles as a kid and got it back signed) anyway, so I did. A few months later I got my own Self addressed stamped envelope in the mail. before opening it I declared to my mom: "This could be an autographed photo!" but I wasn't actually believing that it would happen. I opened the envelope and LO AND BEHOLD!! There was gold pen on Kim's face!! WHOA!! I shrieked and unfolded the whole thing--> EVERYONE had signed it and they were real!!! I was so excited and happy that I was shaking like and leaf (my mom must've thought it was pretty funny) and i called everyone I knew. It was very awesome. It is now framed in my bedroom along with my ticket stubs. That was my way-cool mailer thing story! =) sarah =) ps has anyone else had this sort of luck? ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 Nov 1997 05:16:09 -0800 From: Laurie Casey Subject: Re: Motorvision???? Kutz" Subject: Soundgarden Breaks Up! (duh) Yes, I know its old news, but Jenna thought I should share this with y'all. This is from my school's newspaper and was printed the day after Soundgarden broke up. It totally and completely pissed me off so I wrote them to tell them how tasteless it was that they printed it. Let me know what you think! HOT NEWS FLASH! Soundgarden breaks up: Aw jeez, just when they were getting so good and all, Soundgarden call it a day, finally hanging up their inflated egos and tired guitar solos. The official press release says that the split was "amicably and mutually decided." Yeah, right, they all say that. All I have to say is that I hope Chris Cornell isn't allowed to sing in his next band - maybe the Presidents of the United States of America will get strategic and let him play three stringed guitar for them to help get their show moved back to Mercer Arena [local venue]. But I suppose the big question on everyone's mind is whether or not Spoonman will retire out of respect or keep up his regular gigs in the HUB [student union building where Artis occassionally hangs out and plays]. {the following is my letter-which got printed in the school paper the next week}: I have a complaint about the small article you printed in the April 10th edition of Pulp [entertainment insert in the school paper] written by Marc Hawthorne regarding the breakup of Soundgarden. This article was so demeaning that I found it surprising that you let this be published so soon after the news was made available to the public. As a huge fan of this band, I felt hurt by some of the comments made by Mr.Hawthorne. Let me quote a few for you: "Finally hanging up their inflated egos and tired guitar solos" and "I hope Chris Cornell isn't allowed to sing in his next band." For one thing, I believe one of the reasons the band broke up was so they wouldn't develop these so-called "inflated egos" or "tired guitar solos." And another thing: Chris Cornell is, in my mind and many others, one of the best singers in rock today. Just because he can hit such high notes without cracking like a 14 year old doesn't mean he's a bad singer. Most vocalists in rock today sound like the same old thing, with the same range as their contemporaries. So in conclusion, I'd like to say that I think printed such a degrading article so soon after this unexpected news was in very poor taste and I hope you do better the next time someone as respected as Soundgarden breaks up. Thassall! It's a conspiracy, do you know why because whenever one of us writes to the list KOTS best hackers come in and pick us out and find out where we live. Second theory: whenever we bought a CD from Soundgarden, it was processed through their huge databank along with our names and stuff. Or 3. (duh) AND the KOTS mystery I think the post cards may be being sent out to those who signed up for the Soundgarden list at imusic.com. Don't they ask for your address when you sign up? I really think that is the answer. Onto the article: >finally hanging up their inflated egos and tired guitar solos. This is the kinda shit that pisses me off about the public. People do NOT understand musical structure and have NO appreciation for musicmanship. This is NOT a new phenominon either. When Baroque music first started (Baroque music is the most technically excellent in my opinion, you should go listen to some J.S. Bach, this dude is AWESOME, he sounds like an entire band all by himself) people didn't like it because they thought it sounded harsh and was too complicated for them. The word 'baroque' has negative connotations and the baroque period lasted less than 100 years (the dates are arguable but 1680-1750 is pretty comonly used). Music is really wierd because in every other field of business, the people who are best at their craft get paid the most, but music is totally random. The average person is too narrow minded to look past some catchy lyrics that barely rhyme, and those words are usually cut short just to fit the rhyme because their vocabularies are infintesimal. I don't know how ANYONE could call Kim's wah heavy solos "tired". Every SG hater has not heard Beyond the Wheel. Everyone (in the US at least) makes a prejudgemental impression from Black Hole Sun and once that wasn't the 'in' thing decided that Soundgarden washed up. Meanwhile, these same people are unable to realize that Hanson is the second coming of New Kids on the Block (I apolagize in advance to anyone who is a fan of either of these bands, or was sucked in by crass commercialism, please understand that it is my personal opinion that they suck). So in conclusion, I quote my friend Rob who signs all his e-mail "fuck pop culture do I offend you? good" I guess its a sign of the times Rich "Dying on your feet for Honest Abe" Soundgarden, Metallica, Megadeth, Queensryche http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Stage/4984 .' `. .'/ __ ___ ______ _ _ _ __ \`. .'/ \/ || _||_ _/ /|| | | | | | / \ | `\.
