Did SG have anything to do with the choice of support bands? i would much rather have been able to see somebody like monster magnet but i think we have a rule about local support bands. i really think rocket from the crypt are rather feeble too. its like theyre trying a bit too hard or something but at least they are a little original. as for horn sections, do saxophones count and are mr bungle a "rock" band. if so then this is another band. if anyone out there knows koggle, tell her to come back. she may go on a little sometimes but she has as much place here as anybody especially the list thug. i dont think we need to talk about how we feel about that guy. rob down with the list thug ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Oct 1997 15:41:22 -0400 From: "Freer, Nicole A." Subject: Susan? = ( When i read seth's message concerning Susan Silver and her retirement, i was extremely stricken by it. it's just another blow in the music community i have come to love and honor so dearly and hold so close to myself. susan, her bands, and her city have done more for me that helped me survive through a shitload of tough times than any people i personally know. i can't even explain my gratitude to it all. and now to hear that she's calling it quits... geez, it's like a shot to the heart. I wish you the best of luck and a happy retirement Susan. I'll sure miss you. mind riot ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Oct 1997 16:09:17 PDT From: Jill Mikkelson Subject: confused hey all..... FIONA! ILL DO IT!!!!! And, um, I think the word you want is: double entendre. ;o)~ Sorry to be a bastard, but I beleive the word that you were looking for was 'Ambiguity', although i have never heard 'double entendre' used before, it's probalby right too. See ya Dave :-) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Oct 1997 21:27:31 -0400 From: Elric&Dagny Subject: Thoughts on Susan Hi guys! I was one of the ones who had NOT heard that Susan was retiring before Seth broke the news, but I was thinking about her after I read that article about NXNW. The combination of very few new NW bands of great talent, the implosion of AIC, and of course the demise of our favorite band :( made me wonder what Silver Mgt. was up to these days. I feel badly that the time has come for her to retire. She has been such a presence in the industry, especially in that region. The music industry is certainly not what it used to be, even 5 years ago. It seems like her dropping out signals the end of a significant period of music history. But on the other hand, I think that Susan's decision to retire mirrors SG's decision to end on a high note. She knew when her timing was right, and she made the decision for herself. I really do admire her. She was a promoter and a manager years before Chris and SG came along. She has worked hard for all that she's achieved; many years she worked several jobs at a time while SG struggled. I hope that she takes a well-deserved sabbatical before she jumps into her next "opportunity." Maybe she and Chris will finally have some quality time together. Maybe they can even contemplate blessing this earth with some more Cornell children. :) I wish her well with whatever she decides to do. But I think the music world has suffered a great loss. This whole Susan's retirement thing has got me down too. I completely agree w/ Tiffany (I think it was you) and Miss Catherine.....it is the fall of Soundgarden and Seattle. Now I know some of us at one point or another wished Susan would become ill fated to something so Chris would recognize how great we were for him, but that was fun and games. I just want to give my respect for this woman who made a name for herself and for our boys in the music scene. Without her Soundgarden would probably have gotten all their goodies a little bit later in life, or not. But still this woman has played a major role in their success as well as AIC and all her other projects. It's sad to see Silver Management go. I hope you travel down to Florida with all the other retirees...just kidding. And to think not too long ago, I was joking (to make myself feel better) about how AIC was Susan's only source of income....that was mean I know. Much love to everyone on the list and Susan and the boys for future times. Stay well and safe everyone. DeZHy "if this isn't makin sense, it doesn't make it lies."
