Lee and I were sitting in ICQ reciting lyrics (guess which band..) and i was checking out the digest and found a few gems (note my new sig file.. hehe) anyway lee went poster hunting today and only found naked spice girls.. and even *he* said he'd prefer the naked chest of mr Cornell and the gang other than the spice girls.. ahem ahem hem :-) i have a meaningful question actually.. we go to this trivia thing on Austnet called #trivbot and they let you submit questions.. and we want to hear soundgarden questions.. we just can't think of any.. so if you have any that you could give us.. for like general non-freakish fans or maybe even harder stuff, whatever you fancy.. send it to lee (ar303921@student.uq.edu.au) or me (koggle@hotmail.com) privately and we'll submit it.. and hey why not even go to #trivbot.. if you're bored that is.. hehe :) anyway.. lee and i think we're keeping the list social.. :) hehe we're the Somms Social Directors.. self apointed (a la sherif punk) our slogan will be thought up when we're not so braindead.. and our minor job is to take part as the Somms Drinking Team.. eheh "doing the gutter proud in SG colour" heheh from the Socialgarden of sound... It got even better when I fiddled with my EQ and drowned out the keyboard and extraineous vox. Anyone else really not dig Eleven? I don't know what it is, but I've never liked them. Anyway, I think Ave Maria was a very wise choice on Mr Cornell's part...it fits his "art-sy" very well; it just wouldn't have been him if it was "The 12 Days Of Xmas" or something. I would kill to hear and acapella version or an accoustic version backed by a full orchestra a la Aerosmith's "Dream On (live)". Maybe a b-side? Doubt it heavily though. I can dream can't I? ~^v^OzzY^v^~ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Oct 1997 14:15:05 -0400 From: Dana Jerome Subject: Re: Louder Than Live if u live in south florida, u can get the louder than live video at the sawgrass mall, if not, u can get it out of the rockabelia catalog. if u read the magazine hit parader, they have some rockabelia stuff in there, including an address or phone # u can call or write to get a catalog. -dana ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Oct 1997 15:23:21 -0400 From: Mike Smith Subject: boot score. just wanted to share with the list what a "boot filled" weekend i had. on saturday, i picked up MEGA SOUNDS and GARDEN HEADS.. mega sounds is "awsome" its probably one of the best recorded boots i know of to exist of sg's. quality is A+ all the way, and its filled with quotables. YES!!!!!! i finally found a buckley boot. well, thats if for now..... mike "well hello mr. fancy pants" ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Oct 1997 17:09:55 -0400 From: Nadia Standard Subject: from the import archives.... Hi somms kitties(excuse the pun) I walked into Sam Goody the other day to find Flyin' Traps. They said they hadn't recieved it. Did anyone here find it? Where did you get it? Anyway, I headed over to the import section to find out what's new. Through searching the S section(of course) and low and behold i find something I never heard any sommster bring up, or I have heard of myself. It is a Soundgarden interview disc just released in 1997. It's part of the Baktabak Interview Collection, and it does have an awesome pic on the front. So naturally, I bought it, and found myself listening to a made-for-radio interview with Matt and the one and only Jason Everman. It was, I think, while the were on tour for Louder Than Love. If anyone can get their hands on it, I think it's pretty cool to hear where they stood at that time, and how things that they wanted to happen, happened, and things they didn't expect to happen, happen. the original pretty noose ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Oct 1997 16:42:56 -0500 From: William Flanders Subject: Re: boot score. Okay, guy. An A+ bootleg? Don't keep it to yourself! Share it with the world. I don't buy bootlegs, because people will usually trade. But seeing as I don't know another Soundgarden fan other than myself personally, that's kinda bad. So, what do we do? Mail tapes all over the country? That costs money. I've got a better idea: the all-night mp3 transfer. What is an mp3, you ask? I'm happy to tell ya! It is a somwhat new audio format allowing 12:1 compression at CD quality. Many bands don't mind public sharing of bootlegs, which is why Dave Matthews and Smashing Pumpkins have huge mp3 archives without legal impact. So here's what you do, get a cd-ripper to pull songs directly off cd into wav files. Next, use an mp3 encoder to convert the format. Next, upload to my ftp site right before you go to sleep, and it should be done by morning (modem users that is). Interested in spreading the joy? Respond to this and I'll provide step-by-step instructions, as well as a 24-7 ftp site for all SOMMsters to utilize. Ask not what your maling list can do for you, but what you can do for your mailing list! :) Bill PS - the last step is either to use your computer to play the bootleg, or to get a friend with a CD writer involved. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Oct 1997 19:37:59 PDT From: Matt Busse Subject: Louder Than Live Can anybody tell me what's on the Louder Than Live video? thanks ******************************************* Not necessarily dumb, just ah...beautiful beautiful ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Oct 1997 19:47:41 PDT From: Matt Busse Subject: rockibilia Anyone know where to order a Rockabilia catalog? thanks. **************************************** Not necessarily dumb just ah...beautiful, beautiful ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Oct 1997 21:50:47 -0500 From: Geoff Subject: Re: Louder Than Live Taken directly from the Unofficial Soundgarden website where all questions of this nature can be answered: http://www.sgi.net/soundgarden/releases/ltlive.html Louder Than Live is a 50-minute home video featuring 5 songs filmed live at the Whisky A Go-Go in Los Angeles, California, on December 7 and 10, 1989, as well as 2 studio clips. The live tracks are "Get On The Snake," "Gun," "I Awake," "Big Dumb Sex," and a medley of Spinal Tap's "Big Bottom" and Cheech & Chong's "Earache My Eye," with footage from both shows mixed together. The studio clips are "Loud Love" and "Hands All Over." It is on this videocassette that Chris Cornell is seen wearing his infamous silver duct-tape shorts. The bassist for these performances was Jason Everman. In addition to the home video, A&M released a promo 12" (on blue vinyl, July 1990) and CD (May 1990) with the same title, Louder Than Live, that included the 5 live tracks. The CD came wrapped in brown paper duct-taped closed with a yellow and black "Soundgarden: Louder Than Live" sticker slapped on the front. The blue 12" had a picture of Kim Thayil's face on the label in the center. This album has actually been bootlegged on black vinyl, so look out. Genuine copies have the A&M logo on them. I hope this answers your question. There are pictures of the packaging for the tape and CD on the page.
