I get the digest so that's my excuse :) >before. If Kim really meant what he said.....I mean I hate to say this...but >mabye they really were in it for the money and not for the fans. i know >Chris said that he would never let music turn into a money-making machine (or >sumpin like that) but that could have changed. Why would Kim ever go for the >A-Sides album??? That really kills me. I dunno....I can just picture Ben But remember, he said that the a-sides will be really good for ppl, but they won't forget about the fans and will have a b-sides/live/rare stuff aswell. And didn't someone recently post to the list about just that sort of compilation coming out? I figure A&M would only let the a-sides come out, but the band didn't just want that so we got the a-sides as per A&M but also they are releasing a rare compilation for the rest of us crazy fools :) Now if I read the digest wrong...well I am wrong :) but I still hold out hope that Soundgarden are NOT going to only have this a-sides thing..the name is even waiting for a B-sides thing to come out :) Hell most of us have all the songs, now we are just getting greedy :) :) ah don't you love it :) For Ave Maria, if anyone one would be willing to make an MP3 of it for some of the list who can't get to the album, I for one would be most greatfull! Anyone that could/would can you drop me a message. I am getting desperate to hear it, so could everyone stop talking about it :) For Aussie sommsters, Homebake is on Jan 17th @ Gold Coast.. Headless Chickens are back!! WOOOOO :) band list is around somewhere... if Koggle posts to the list anything about me dancing a jig, it didn't happen :) if I can't remember it(only very vaguely), it mustn't have happened!! :) Truly with a new album :) WOOO, when someone knows more details let us all know please. I came across a pretty nifty picture of Chris and maybe Susan at the grand opening of GameWorks in Seattle a few months back!! It's really cool, and I didn't even know that there was a video for any of TOTD's song. It's got some really great shots of Chris, but not too many of old matty. Quite a few shots of old Eddie though. Sorry if you all knew this already, but I thought I'd shear it with ya anyway. See ya Dave :-) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Oct 1997 09:01:24 +0000 From: Kathie and David Subject: Ave Maria Ah, where should I begin. Chris sounds magnificent. I just wish his beautiful voice had been allowed the full majesty it commands instead of being practically drowned out by the music. Chris could have easily handled a much simpler arrangement. Maybe I'm just used to acapella treatments of this song (traditionalist that I am, heh-heh). I hate to say this, what with all the breathless thrills being expressed, but I was a wee bit disappointed - not at all with Chris' interpretation of the song, which I thought was one of the most sincere and heartfelt on the whole CD (did anyone else listen to the whole thing?), but with the musical accompaniment. Someone else mentioned thinking it was too "synthesized". I think it was just too much - music that is. Chris' voice is strong and beautiful and shouldn't be hidden by the *production*. Just my opinion. I think that Chris will slowly become less and less metal. More ballads, more songs about reclusiveness. Some of you may dislike this, but it is really what happens when one member breaks apart from a band. Ozzy v. Sabbath, Lennox v. Eurythmics, McCartney v. Beatles. Styles change. But we've heard 12 years of "soundgarden." I'm ready for some new creativity. Yesterday, I finally got around to scanning my sketches of the boys and constructing a separate homepage for them. Here's the URL: http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Lounge/7769/ My main homepage address is linked there, as is my email. If anyone visits, please sign the guestbook. We're not all perfect like you. I wasn't sure, so I watched the credits, and lo 'n' behold, along came 'Chris Cornell -Additional music' scrolling up the screen. This was at the very beginning of the credits, so I assume it was an important role he played there, but can anyone tell me what it was he did to earn this 'title'? Did he organise the soundtrack? Not *all* important, but I wouldn't mind knowing. On the subject of Ave Maria, (just a short note -quite a bit has been said on the subject, and I have nothing too interesting to say about it) I think that from what I have heard (soundclips -The album isn't out where I am, and I don't know that I want the whole thing) is exceptionally beautiful. The sound, IMNSHO, is perfect. I think the organ sound is excellent, and Chris's voice is ...*top notch*. I was actually a bit of a lover of the song beforehand -with Pavarotti singing. But I do hope for some interesting solo-stuff. I am getting a tad scared about christmas album-type projects in the future. If that makes sence. Hmm, a little longer than I had anticipated...
