Ok, Listserv said this was rejected so I'm not sure if it went thru, but as an update, Erin at Silver heard the same rumor, but nothing is yet confirmed. Subject: Re: More on Hater.. In a message dated 97-10-07 13:45:14 EDT, iawake@IX.NETCOM.COM writes: << Note: my 'photographer friend' also works on the Spud Goodman show... He has told me: The Hater 'shoot' was a month ago at the Sub Zero Cafe (previously known as the Off Ramp Cafe) >> The next Monday follwing said show at Sub Zero, Hater played a rousing set at Bumbershoot. After that show, Matt said they had another WWC show in the works for around Halloweenie. LATER on that night, Ben told a certain Canadian list member (hi Geoff) that the Bumbershoot show was their last show ever. Which was par for the course w/ Ben (he likes to rile people up in the name of Marketing). No one here has said anything regarding the breakup of Hater or WWC. So, until we see an official press release from A&M, they are still together and this is still just a rumor. When I visit my parents, my mom always gets pissed when I play Soundgarden (unless it's "Black Hole Sun" or "She Likes Surprises" in which case she dances. :) Also, she very much into the religious Christmas thing. So, for Christmas I'm getting her the "Very Special Christmas" compilation. After hearing Chris sing "Ave Maria" she'll have to admit that SG is awesome and I'll be able to listen to SG as much as I want all through vacation. :) By the way, all you Seattle sommsters, I'm planning on going to school in Seattle for a semester. Does anyone out there know if any of the area schools have a decent writing program? (Or just plain English.) U Dubb seems a consideration. Thanks. So to those who don't have the song yet and are curious as to what it sounds like, that's a good place to start, although I really do recommend getting the entire song. A 36 second soundbite (out of 6 mins) does this incredible piece no justice... the URL: http://www.veryspecial.org/media.html Enjoy.... sabrina ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Oct 1997 10:25:28 -0500 From: tonerkin Subject: Hail Mary!!! Holiday Greetings all! I am sitting at my puter with headphones on, staring at the pumpkin sitting on my desk and the devil hanging next to my SG bulletin board listening to a Christmas CD! This is the 5th time I have listened to all 6:11 seconds of Ava Maria and I still can't decide if I like it or not. First off Chris sounds good. His voice is strong and he stays on key. It's just that now that I hear the song again I remember it always seems to be plodding along. And Chris and Natasha are plodding right along with it. She does some interesting things behind him(that I caught only after I put the headphones on) and the organ sounds like it belongs in church. (Where's the holy water?) I don't know it just sounds really strange to me. All you head bangers out there are going to want to bang your heads on some hard surface when you hear it! Chris gone monastery!! BUTT I think it does prove Mr. Cornell has a wonderful singing voice as well as the screeching, howling instrument we also love! I think it will grow on me as time goes on. I will be singing right along with it by the time Santa is stomping across my roof! Go take a listen at your local CD store or better yet go buy it...it's for a good cause! toni ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Oct 1997 11:41:14 -0400 From: Jaime Gonzalez Subject: Re: SGDN RADIO and this wierd pic I saw Quicktime lies,it can't play mpegs.Go to http://cws.internet.com or ftp://ftp.duplexx.com/pub/duplexx/nettoob95.exe and download Net Toob stream.this will play mpegs, avi video and quicktime files. Also good for viewing mpegs are VMPEG lite, and MPEGPlay. It's the one with Fleetwood Mac on the cover. The photo with the story is of Chris and Sam Perkins of the Sonics. Chris looks tiny next to him, and he's wearing shades and his hair is getting longer and is slicked back. I just saw it about a half hour ago... I picked it up and held it with my two hands. Get your money and get down there if you want it. I would offer to buy it for someone, but I have been burned in the past on a deal for a SOMMSter (anyone want to buy a copy of Born To Choose -> has H.I.V. baby on it). Also I do not have the money to buy it for someone. Adios all. On page 17 of the latest Rolling Stone, there is a recent picture of Chris Cornell with Sam Perkins of the Seattle Supersonics. This has to be the coolest picture of Cornell in recent memory. He looks like a fucking rock star..hair slicked back, Ray-bans on, etc. He looks better than I have ever seen him. Seth, or anyone else, scan this pic please. Thanks for reading. -vince ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 7 Oct 1997 22:10:08 +0000 From: Stella Rogers Subject: where to get ave maria? I haven't posted since the listserv changed, so hopefully this will get through. So where is everyone getting their copy of Ave Maria? I know it is on the Very Special Christmas compilation. Is it available in the states? Today, I went to a record chain called the Wherehouse and they told me they had none of their Christmas albums in yet. The sales lady even told me they won't be getting any Christmas stuff until Christmas. I told her that didn't sound right since the album was supposed to come out yesterday. I hate the Wherehouse anyways, all they sell is the popular stuff, mostly rap. Not that rap is bad, just the store. I'll probably go to the local indy record store tomorrow. If it's out, they'll have it. Sorry for rambling...its been a while. Don't bother asking him about coping or selling his pic's...that you find of Hater and Soundgarden, they are the copyright of Susan Silver Mgt. and she has made it clear to him NOT to reproduce or post any unauthorized pictures to any individuals or website!!!! The shots that you see on his site are the select few she did allow him post.
