I saw devo on the weekend, and they were good. really good. I wasn't very familiar with their stuff, but I felt honored to be witness to one of their few shows. the drummer was *way* better than I imagined, their yellow overalls were interesting, and their music was well arranged and sounded swell. they also did a ripping cover of soundgarden's 'girl u want', which went down very well with the pro-soundgarden crowd. the lead break was *exactly* how kim mapped it out on _somms_. weird, but cool. and for those of us who enjoy the sweet refrains of brisbane's own powderfinger (and I know you're out there), the band's set featured a large amount of new material, which all sounded wonderful. look for a new record at the start of next year, methinks. Someone told me that sucked. >as far as I know, march of crimes had no commercial releases (keep in mind >that they were, for the most part, a high school band). March of Crimes didn't release anything. And as for a high school band....I don't know exactly when they were together, but it's safe to say that it was somewhere from '88-'90. Which would make Mr. Shepherd 20-22 (if my math is correct :) Um...what the hell am i trying to say...oh yeah....MoC was a post-HS band ;-) but nothing of real >import, other than that the band may have at one time included stone >gossard and pete droge, and a few others ;-) and that they once met jello biafra because he >liked the band's name. That is correct sir :-) Jeez, has anyone else ever heard the DK's "Corporate Deathburger" ? *sigh* unless you know ben or any of the other band >members personally, the chances of getting your hands on any of their >music at this point is remote, imho. Well you could know Mr. Shephherd (misspelled on purpose :-) but that won't help you. They didn't release anything. If you really want to know what they sounded like....listen to "HIV Baby". Every song March of Crimes ever played can be heard in there :-) steve - Heavy Rotation: Verve - Urban Hymns, Pavement - "Shady Lane" CD single, Kula Shaker - Summer Sun EP, Sloan - One Chord to Another and Radiohead (everything :) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 6 Oct 1997 23:40:17 +1000 From: Lee Christensen Subject: Livid, drinking incidents and the all improtant soundgarden Hey ya, A few quick comments and other stuff....anyone at Livid, we were told that during a break in sets on the main stage Soundgarden was played..anyone hear it to know what it was? Just curious as to what it was. Somehow by fluke or luck :) ran into koggle and had a most excellent day once again with a sommster :) Too bad we couldn't meet up with you wyn, we both tried, I didn't even see koggle in the meeting spot and we were both there. The crowd was just HUGE, way to huge.... And i'll ask again, even if it's coming out soon, could anyone post me or tell me where I can find the lyrics to Ave Maria that chris is singing. I have no idea what it is, besides a song :) and no idea what the old english version is or why it's different so any information, mostly a pointer to lyrics would be great. Imusic is releasing a Live at Moe's CD, it has the Presidents of USA doing Spoonman on it. Random useless information. >monday morning here and i only just recovered from a hellish weekend >spent with our very own Lee aka smileyboy Christensen.. hmm smileyboy indeed :) :) thanks for the new nick Koggle :) I'm still talking to you :) Just watch how you eat when security is watching :) Anyone else tried to sing Soundgarden on the way home very early in the morning, only to find you can't for the life of you remember the start to Rusty Cage? You wired me awake and hit me with a hand of broken nails! *sigh* how could we forget. Got to get the tape player fixed so I can sing along next time :) Hope everyone had a huge weekend like down here and that everyone at livid had an excellent time. seeya Lee ***** DEF FX/ GARBAGE/ SOUNDGARDEN/ SONIC YOUTH/ RHCP/ SPIDERBAIT/ MAGIC DIRT/ ATARI TEENAGE RIOT/ REPUBLICA/ GRAVELRASH/ PEARL JAM/ FREE KITTEN/ ANGELFISH/ http://student.uq.edu.au/~ar303921 "I'm sorry I was cruel, I forgot to kiss you..... She is a GREAT drummer named Cindy Blackman. The afro is a wig, I think, because her hair looks pretty normal when she plays other gigs...
