Hello, I wanted to make a clarification on the give away for the TDITTL CD single. I have had several people asked if it was OK to enter even if they live in Timbucktu! YES, it is OK to enter. It is just my bad luck if one of you Aussies win and I have to forgo half of my mortgage payment to pay the postage to get it to you!!!! :) Last give away someone is the Chicago area won so I got off cheap. Only two more days to get your entries in to: tonerkin@pipeline.com. Peggy the ugly brown dog is drinking water(makin slobber) as I type this! I asked Matt about it in Chicago last year and he confirmed that they've just never done it. I don't know if there's a particular reason. 2. New Damage. I'm not 100% sure about this, but it's not listed anywhere in Steve's boot discog and I've never heard of a tape that includes it. I'd love to be proved wrong in this case by someone who has a copy of it and would be willing to make a trade. 3. Applebite. Obviously. There are probably others. I somehow think there were a few more tracks from DOTU that never made it into a setlist. -seth ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Sep 1997 09:07:26 -0500 From: Geoff Subject: Re: Calendars The are selling at CDNOW -- http://www.cdnow.com for less than $10. I love em more every day :) And after wearing it for what must be close to a year now I finally meet someone who knows what it's about!! I was so amazed and happy :) everyone should wear the shirt as much as possible, you'll be amazed sometime it just might happen! And once again meeting someone from the list has been great! :) truly amazed at the amount of great friendly ppl on here :) And now for some questions since I haven't read in such a long time. First off could someone post me the lyrics of Ave Maria? I have absolutly NO idea what this song is, or what lyrics it has, so it would be great if someone could let me know. So I can form my own opinion of how Chris would sing it. And the greatest hits thing...as some one already posted and bet me to it, That's what a CD-burner is for...make your own. Every single greatest hits I have seen has been releases singles, it's what ppl recognise and think, hey I know those songs, cool, i'll buy that. For most of us on here it's totally different, we are a minority, the amount of ppl that know BHS, Spoonman, pretty noose/burden in my hand and not much else far out weigh ppl that own every album and alot of b-sides. These are the ppl the hits album is aimed at, not us. The a-sides is a much more record company project it seems and one can only hope that the former members of Soundgarden see that alot of ppl want unreleased/b-sides on a complation and give it to us at some stage. Other then that, tapes and cd-burners are there for your own greatest hits package. Not the same as buying a cd with cover and everything I know... But $30 for a cd I own all the songs on already is a bit harsh......but it is aimed at another market, i'll let them have it safe in the knowledge that they are missing out on ALOT of material that IMHO is better then the released singles. It comes down to unknown songs just don't sell to the general public. I guess that's the major topics on the list, sorry no new info :) Ah just getting back into the swing of things :) Seeya Lee *I must read my somms mail everyday* ***** DEF FX/ GARBAGE/ SOUNDGARDEN/ SONIC YOUTH/ RHCP/ SPIDERBAIT/ MAGIC DIRT/ ATARI TEENAGE RIOT/ REPUBLICA/ GRAVELRASH/ PEARL JAM/ FREE KITTEN/ ANGELFISH/ http://student.uq.edu.au/~ar303921 "I'm sorry I was cruel, I forgot to kiss you..... I'm a little behind on reading my digests, so i might have to post again later tonight... but anyways, i have to tell (brag) to everyone about my shopping/dreaming experiences this weekend. It all started off when i saw a commercial for hype on tv. it was an advertisment for best buy and it said that right now if you buy hype you get a free poster and cd with it. So i just knew i had to go to best buy this weekend (it's about a 45 min drive from my house!) So i convinced my mom to "go shopping in melbourne" and then it was my plan to beg her to no extent to take me to best buy since we were "soooooo close". And, for once, my plan worked! I was in best buy and i found hype! my heart was pounding- finally the one video i've wanted to see FOREVER i had my very own copy in my hands... but i brought 30$ with me (not knowing how much it would cost) since the price tag said 19.95 i went down the soundgarden row looking for import cd's i don't have. I found the day i tried to live import cd (the same one that someone on the list is giveing away) It was only 5.99... so i had enough money to buy both of them... I went up to the cash register and the movie rang up 12$ and the cd rang up 59 CENTS!!!!!! can you believe it!!!!! I walked out sooooo happy!!!! And i still had 15$ left! Here's the dream i had last night: I was shopping at the mall (i did a lot of shopping this weekend, and i guess that's what was on my mind). I found a store with all of these cheep soundgarden items... and i bought 10 teeshirts for 5$... They were a little used but i didn't mind!!! That was a great dream! -Woo Hoo, Rachel ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Sep 1997 15:29:04 -0500 From: Rebekah Henderson Subject: Re: Live Songs >Power Trip <-hiro's music Power Trip was played live! I've always enjoyed music, always wanted to learn, SG didn't exactly inspire me to take the guitar. But they influenced my thought about music, so when I am rich and famous and have my own band, it will be SG inspired :-). The first SG song I learned was... Hunted Down. I love that song, and it's so easy to play. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Sep 1997 13:38:54 +0200 From: Nacho Priego Subject: Re: How will Soundgarden be remembered? I think the answer is simple: Nirvana and Pearl Jam are much easier to listen to that SG. As Bill said, when Nirvana plays the first four notes of a song, you know how the rest of the song will be, and people can sing it, and them becomes a popular song... Except for the very first years, SG sound has never been that simple. It's just much harder to understand their music. And then tehy make a simple song, Black Hole Sun, and it's a hit. Just the way the music industry works. Note: I'm not saying that Black Hole Sun is a bad song, just it's a simple song (a simple structure).
