Ben and Jello! That would RULE!! I could kinda see Matt drumming for Mick Jones (the Clash/B.A.D. one, not the Foreigner one). Chris with the Bee Gees would be interesting. (Now come on, don't tell me a mental soundbite of Chris belting out Stayin' Alive didn't just pop up in your head!) ;) Chris quote-- "This is the last show I'm playing with this band. This is pointing out a strange phenomenon I've seen grow on this list over the past 2 years....that some of us are more equal than others. As far as I'm concverned NO ONE on this list is untouchable and NO ONE is a better or worse fan, more devoted fan or any of the other garbage that pops up on here. Point is, folks, we're all on here b/c we like a band. The same band brought us all together. Period. this is a mailing list, and to me that means we can post what's on our minds, no matter what. Opinions are always welcome, it's the flaming and belittling of opinions that needs to be watched. No one can tell someone his/her opinion is wrong, simply because it is an OPINION. thanks for listening.....deb ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Sep 1997 08:13:36 -0700 From: Dave Subject: Top 100 videos of the 90's MTV is doing the 100 vidoes of the 90's thing again, so far they are up to 97 as I type this. hey better show some SG, you know they will show BHS. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Sep 1997 08:38:14 -0700 From: Dave Subject: Top 100 Videos follow up Black Hole Sun was 93 of the Top 100 videos of the 90's. Well said, Laura! This is exactly what has always intrigued me about Soundgarden and one of the reasons that I find them unique. That four individuals with such distinct styles can come together and make it work. Well, just saying that they make it work doesn't do them justice--they make it into something truly magical!! It seems recently that we are getting more and more comments on things like such: 1. Who said this and did they mean it as a flame? 2. Did they say it to me? 3. Were they making fun of me? 4. Were they making fun of something I said? 5. I don't like what they said. . .so I'll flame 'em! 6. My opinion is the best opinion! The posts have warped themselves into a shadowy flicker of what they once were. I too get ill when I have to speed through the posts until I see something new and exciting about Soundgarden or one of it's "components". Are we digging our own grave? The list was a fantastic idea, but like all fantastic ideas, maybe it's time has come to move on. I dunno. My opinion. On Fri, 19 Sep 1997, Karen had the good sense to ask: > On the tape of b-sides I have (which I can't find the song list for) > there is a song which I am crazy about done very much in a Hendrix > style. It starts out Hey baby, where you comin from or something to > this effect. I could only find one song on the song list on Seth's > page which was originally done by Hendrix called "Can you see me" on sorry if you've already been informed privately, karen, but I felt that this should be answered on list, since I have so much respect for the song. the song you refer to is 'hey baby', written, in fact, by seattle's own jimi hendrix. the performance itself is taken from the _stone free_ tribute, a 1993 release that featured covers of his songs by quite a few notable musical acts. 'hey baby' is performed not by soundgarden, but by macc, being mike mccready, jeff ament, matt cameron and chris cornell. from memory the track was recorded live, meaning that they played together, no overdubs. the performance is, imho, somewhere above that of awesome. chris vocals are *great*, and matt's drumming is, of course, wonderful. the other two guys aren't too bad either, but could maybe use a little more polish :) very much in the temple frame of mind, and definitely worth hearing if you haven't already. as for me, I've only just recently got over a nice little case of the measles, moved out of home and recovered from a wedding (somebody else's), so the sotw I've been promising ('cold bitch') should be with you before the end of this week. I've already started work on the one after that, so I should really try harder to make this one work . as for me being brilliant, wise, unappreciated or all three, whatever. I can maybe agree with the last, the first and second are really a bit of a stretch. perhaps I'm just a tiny amount better at expressing my thoughts than other listers . all I ask is that someone out there enjoys reading what I have to say. if I can be informative and entertaining at the same time, then that is cool. I'll even juggle while reciting the faq, if you like. justin ----- in your real life, treat it like it's special in your real life, try to be more kind in your real life, think of those that love you in this real life, try to be less blind words by vernon reid ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Sep 1997 00:57:50 -0400 From: Alissa Corsi Subject: Re: Where can I find this song?
