I don't know, ben seemed to dig a lot of the songs from _superunknown_, primarily 'my wave', 'spoonman' (where he could sing), 'the day I tried to live' and 'head down' (for obvious reasons). _down on the upside_ may have been a different story, but who could tell? he might have just been having an off night (or off year, as the case may be). btw, the soundgarden compilation, whatever form it finally takes, is slated for a very tentative october release here in australia - october 13 to be precise. keep in mind that this date is *very* tentative, probably so tentative that it can't even be taken seriously. I'm sure that if there is a record to be released, it will be pushed back as all records invariably are, but this is what some record stores have been told by those faceless polydor reps that move soundlessly through the halls of wisdom. start (or continue) slavering. justin ----- in your real life, treat it like it's special in your real life, try to be more kind in your real life, think of those that love you in this real life, try to be less blind words by vernon reid ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 1 Sep 1997 12:12:57 -0500 From: tonerkin Subject: The land of happy bullshit! Hi Guys, Just got back from a week's stay in the land of the anti-Christ.........Mickey Mouse. Now what could possibly be Soundgarden related about Disney World??? Let's see, I bought a sun hat (black Somms hat is way too hot) It had some funky design on the front of it so I covered it with a SG patch. So I only looked like a semi-dorky tourist. Anyway, on the day we were in the Magic Kingdom , my 73 year old Mother lost her hat on Space Mountain. So rather than fry her already rapidly decreasing brain cells I gave her my Soundgarden hat! So if anyone saw an old lady in a SG hat hugging Pluto it was Lula, my cool Mom. I also did our list proud. At Epcot I got dragged onto the stage of a show. It was a satire of a game show and I was up there in front of all those people in........my lovely Somms Shirt(thanks for the 87th time Dena!) I did the Sommsters proud.....I WON. My sister took a victory picture with my crown, the box of raisins I won and my somms shirt!! Last night I drove to work with Soundgarden cranked!! It sounded sooooooooo good after being in the land of bad radio and "It's a small world" toni Happy Labor Day to all you US sommsters! I yelled "hey eddie!" after him, but the guy didn't turn around... i still think it was him... eddie vedder at my surf fest... hmmm... still wondering, Rachel ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 1 Sep 1997 16:39:32 -0400 From: Rachel Potter Subject: the radio today on the radio they played hunger strike then black hole sun... right after the other!! I was happy. still wondering about my last post, Rachel ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 2 Sep 1997 12:16:28 -1200 From: Kris Subject: Loudest Love Hi everyone, I went to a cd shop while I was on vacay. It was up in Maine. A cd shop called "The Bull Moose". It sold new/used cd's and bootlegs. Well, I was looking through SG's section and I found the Loudest Love EP. I screamed!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even though it was used, the cd itself was not in bad shape, just the case was cracked. I got it for $16. It was the Japanese import. It has the lyrics and everything!!! I also saw a promo cd of Soundgarden. It was some type of bootleg promo. The only non-album track was "Flower (Steve Fisk remix)". Ahhhhh, This doesn't make any sense to me. I thought Steve Fisk never did a remix of "Flower". It was priced at $35. I didn't have enough money for it, and even if I did, I don't know if it was a fake or not. Should have listened to it, but my parents wanted me out as fast as possible. Yeah right. I took ten minutes and they came in and almost dragged me out of the store. I was also going to buy some SG promo photos. They were three dollars a piece. How much does a near excellent "Loudest Love" cd go for anyway? Please mail me with info. Well today in english, we had to recite our poems, and I got away with reciting SG song!!!! To do this required all my skills in persuasive talking, and the fact that my english teacher who said no has left, for medical reasons, and our new one had no idea that I wasn't allowed too. (he he :) As it happened, I had a copy of Limo Wreck written out for my old teacher, to show her, and I quickly asked if I could change my poem to Limo Wreck. She had a quick glance over it, and before you could say 'satan oscillate my metallic sonatas' she said yes. But me bieng stupid, I apparently "didn't use enough change in pitch" or something, and am allowed to recite it on Friday. Oh well. See ya Dave :-) "They say have your own fun Make your own mind But don't make no waves" ------------------------------ End of SOMMS Digest - 1 Sep 1997 to 2 Sep 1997 **********************************************
