Gee, now don't all of you guys go posting all at once! :) :) :) On to my point. This is really starting to get to me and a fellow sommster. For anyone who has the Big Day Out 2/2/97 Perth, Australia boot, what is that very last song??? It's a Chris solo and the song is very pretty and it appears to be a cover song. Can anybody name that tune??? We'd like to know!!!! May Soundgarden be with you. Rebekah ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 28 Aug 1997 16:15:06 -0400 From: Kelly Hendricks Subject: Ramblings, Babblings, and other Shit... Well, I FINALLY caught up on all my SOMMS (I think). Whew... Anyway, I've got some questions, a dream, and some misc. stuff to discuss. Okay, first the questions. I was watching Singles last night (got it at Wal-Mart for about $6) and it has some out-takes at the end but I'll get to that later. Anyway, what I was wondering is how many of you older, Seattle (or close to that area) SOMMSters (I know the age thing was disscussed earlier but I mean "older" as in the number of years that you've been into SG) saw SG when they were just playing the clubs. I mean like when they were starting out and building a following. Do you understand my question? Anyway, I was just curious as to who saw them in that rare state that not a lot of people got the chance to see them in and I kick myself daily for not being able to be one of those people. Next question: how much does Foreshocks (is that right?) go for and how much is it really worth? I saw it in a Southland CD mail-out for $75! Okay, but get this; on the back they had a "Wanted" list and they would buy Foreshocks for $35. Now what is that telling the buyer? It tells me that I can find it somewhere else cheaper. And if your wondering, no I didn't buy it. Okay, now for my dream. Don't worry, it's really short. Me and some of my friends were sitting in this room at a card table (you know the ones you pull out at Thanksgiving for all the little kids to sit at) and we were just hanging out. All of a sudden Chris bursts through the door followed by Matt, Kim, and Ben and starts chanting, "We got Pearl Jam tickets! We got Pearl Jam tickets!" As he chants, he skips around us (followed by the rest of them) taunting us with the tickets. Then I woke up. Kinda weird, huh. I had this one a long time ago and I've had others but the others are too weird, too hard to explain over a computer (hell, I couldn't even explain it if I were talking to you) and I've forgotten parts of them, I'm sure. And now for the misc. stuff. *A couple of days ago my brother and I were going to the mall and Rusty Cage was on and he told me that it sounded like Chris was saying, "I'm going to break my rusty CAJUN run." Goofy, I know but we both thought it was quite funny (FYI he knows the real lyrics). And living in Louisiana, it was even funnier. *I was thinking the other day about how when I'm asked about my musical tastes and I bring up SG, the person that's asking me either says, "Oh ya, I love that song BHS! or, "Who??" or, "Don't you mean SavageGarden?!" Now what I was thinking of is that when I first heard BHS I got hooked on SG sort of like a drug. Yes, I admit that is the song that got me where I am today but it doesn't mean that I don't love them as much as the next person that got into them from Deep Six. All I'm saying is that it's weird how some people, like myself, were crazed with SG and wanted more and most people, like all the other people I've talked to, just liked that song and never bothered to go listen to anything else by SG. Just something that was rolling around in my head. *I also made a semi-SG friend. Okay, okay...well, she knew who they were and she dislikes Bush which is 2 pluses in my book. I went to play volleyball with some people that I just met and they usually listen to the radio. Well, she turns it on and the sweet, unmistakable sound of SG comes blowing out of the radio. I try to hide my excitement but a BIG grin spreads across my face as I silently mouthed the words. Well, she chats with me about music and so I add, "I LOVE this band!!!" and she said, "Isn't that SG?" Now the key here is that it wasn't BHS that was playing but TDITTL which didn't get or doesn't get that much air-time. I thought that was cool. *Oh, on the copy of Singles that I got, at the end they had some out-takes (which I already mentioned. DUH on my part). Anyway, the only SG related thing about one of them was that the magazines started talking to Steve (isn't that his name). Sorry folks, my brain is already overloaded with school stuff and it's only my 3rd day. It can only get worse... Anyway, you know after he passes the mime for the last time and says something like that mime was right that love disappears, well, he goes and stops in front of the magazines and they start talking to him. Yes, you heard me right. Well this one is called "Club Men" (I think) and it has "SOUNDGARDEN Louder Than Love" on the front. Now I'm thinking this is some sort of gag-mag that was just put there for the shot but I could be wrong. The reason is: I thought BMF was already released when Singles came out. Wasn't it??? Why would LTL be on the front? The other out-take was in french so don't ask. Well, I think that's all but I'm sure I'll think of something else once I send it. Over and out!! Take care and be sweet!! Stay Cool, Kelly (C: "You really think I love you just 'cuz I said so." ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 28 Aug 1997 16:56:56 -0400 From: Nadezhda Ball Subject: dreamland hey sommsters, i had a sg dream last night, i don't remember all of it, and the sg part was in there for like a second. but i thought i'd share with you anyway. okay, i was at home and momma comes in and is like here is the cd you wanted. and i'm like no mom i already have that one (well this had happened before at xmas time when i said i wanted ultrmega ok and she got me dotu, which she had already bought me once before) anyway, i think the cd she got was screaming life/fopp. but i wanted another one. one that i have never heard of before and i think only exsists in dreamland. chris is on the far left corner all clean and shaven, long hair and topless, kim is kind of center right makin a silly face with his hand kind of covering his mouth, matt's on his right, i forget what he's doin, i think he's either lookin down or towards the right. and then ben's standin tall and pretty lookin up and to the right i think. okay it's all in black and white. and i think hiro's ghost or something was in there, or maybe that was my dream personalities wishful thinkin, all depressesd about no more hiro. anyway over back by chris was soundgarden written along the side in red letters, only i think that they might have been in a different language. and it was weird becuz the album was longer, i don't mean time wise but like in width, and i found that quite odd. okay so i spent like five minutes lookin for this album in japanimation speed, which came out either before um ok or after it, which made no sense cuz been was in the picture. well, i woke up about 2 secs later. okay, it was a crappy dream, but i don't care. when i woke up it was like 5 in the am or somethin, but i woke to black hole sun, cuz my cd player was random playin on the 5 cds, and i got to thinkin about how i remember a few people on the list are like it's such a crappy song. i'm not gonna point any fingers, cuz i forget who to point to, and i wouldn't do it anyway it's rude. well i just wanted to say that if it weren't for black hole sun, a lot of us wouldn't even be lookin at this post right now. i know that if i hadn't heard bhs, i'd just keep thinkin that kim was that odd lookin dude on the almost live lame list. but hearin that song did cause me to go and steal badmotorfinger from my ex boyfriend. i mean you have to admit that it's a fukin good song. it's not the best, we all know that, but it is a good song. i can't go into the whole analyzing of the song thing, cuz i'd feel stupid, i don't have a way with words like the other guy, i forget his name i think it's justin, but i could be wrong. by the way justin (or whoever you are that writes the awesome reviews for fobd and hand of god, i think you did that one too) you are an amazing writer, keep up the good job, ew i sound like a grade school teacher. whatever, okay i must leave the world of emails and check out some sites.
