And, I must say, every bit of that article is true. I too must say that that concert was truly one of the greatest I've ever gone to. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Aug 1997 10:25:32 -0400 From: Maria Joseph Subject: Re: Question about the greatest hits That would be cool... but just make it possible to not include the federal people. In other words, if we sell it to each other or whatever, I think that would be a federal offense because you aren't supposed to take copyrighted material and distributed or whatever.. so someone can look that up, but either than that.. This would be cool if they could have a CD case like the one with the new Tool cd. This way it would look like the the BMF wheel is spinning as you move it. That would be totally awesome. Thank you. ^_^ Scott Stop you're trying to bruise my mind I can do it on my own Stop you're trying to kill my time It's been my death since I was born I don't remember half the time If I'm hiding or I'm lost But I'm on my way ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Aug 1997 13:53:11 -0400 From: Anna Mehrer Subject: If you were in charge... So basically, do the job of A&M's marketing department?? I know, I know, it's an opportunity to express what we as fans would = probably buy, "just in case someone's probably not looking". :) I would: 1) Ignore any chronological order First song would be Loud Love 2) If it were a collector's item, then the price of the album would be = quite high, thereby accessible to not every fan. 3)Maybe have Badmotorfinger throwing stars-to pelt at non-fans 4) N O boxed sets 5) Include packages of seeds ("Flower"?) for a starter garden (export = problems there) just for fun.... anna __________________________________________________________________________= _____ Well, you do. If such a thing were to exist (and I'm not saying it does or will), it would be for the fans, and the management wants to know what you would want on it. No need to stick to a standard tracklist, though if you do please try to give some reason for each song you're including. How about segues between tracks, humorous or not (a la Bill Nye the Science Guy audio or interview segments)? Would you have a retrospective collection starting in 1985 and ending in 1996 or would you do it in reverse? Or would you group the songs in some other way? Would you make the whole compilation a collectible item in some way? Limited edition, limited length of availability, colored vinyl, shaped CD, some kind of special packaging, etc.? Remember, standard CDs hold 75 minutes of audio and the more non- standard packaging you have, the more it's probably going to cost. Go crazy. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Aug 1997 14:30:33 -0400 From: Nadezhda Ball Subject: where are the sommsters? Definately up there on my list of favorite SG b-sides. Do you really think we could pull this off?!? Maybe Seth could ask and he could assign people to work on it. I think this would be the best thing that's happened since sg broke up. Here's some of my ideas: 1. It be either a double or triple cd 2. It be called Soundgarden: 1984-1987 3. It sould have a reference to Seth and "All the Sommsters out there" 4. Along with the songs it sould have interview q's and a's (or some sound clips or something like"alright everybody... take off your shirts!") 5. It sould have some pictures in it (like the metallica's load cd... but not from one shoot... and all the pics can't look the same... they should be taken at different times in their career)- and somewhere in there there should be a pic of the soundgarden sculpture. 6. It shouldn't cost a whole lot of money!!! 7. There should be voteing for the songs on seth's and the official web pages 8. Maybe there could be a small band biography (?) Here are my ideas for the songs: -they sould be in chronological order (my list isn't) -there should be a secret song at the end of each cd -Songs should include: Hands all over Gun Full on kev's mom I awake Big Dumb Sex Pretty Noose Zero Chance (or Dusty) Ty Cobb Blow up the outside world Burden in my hand Never named Head Injury Flower Beyond the wheel 665-667 Jesus Christ pose Room a thousand years wide Searching with my good eye closed Somewhere Rusty Cage Outshined Slaves and Bulldosers Like Suicide (acoustic version) Fell on Black Days Superunknown Birth Ritual The day i tried to live Black Hole sun (live chris solo) Spoonman My wave Little Joe Fopp Well... i REALLLLLY hope we can pull this one off... it would be great (hey Seth.... if this does work... can i help being in charge of it?!?) and i have another question: how many people are on the list? oh yeah... once when i saw soundgarden i went out and got scrap fabric to put around my wrist (like chris :) ) My fingers are crossed, -Rachel ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Aug 1997 23:36:24 -0500 From: NIKI FREER Subject: Greatest hits / Hating limited ed's hello sommsters far and wide! i have no problem with the Greatest Hits things that have been going on, hell i think i wrote the most out of all of us so far, being the babbler of all that is SG that i am, but i think some of you guys have the wrong idea. *WE'RE* not making the Greatest Hits albums... what we're doing is speculating on what we'd love a greatest hits album released by A&M to be and to look like and what musically we'd like on it. we're not coming up with some huge devised plan that Seth is taking over and we're constructing on our own as a Somms project... not at all. we're just being silly and having fun with the idea of "what could we, the fans, possibly want out of a SG great hits collection?" so, relax and just roll with the flow. = ) we're just playing around, like when we all wrote out our setlists for what a SG Unplugged Session would have sounded like... = ) ATTN: This is to the guy who HATES HATES HATES limited edition stuff, and said that it would all be that way if I had my own way.... well, if i had my way, we wouldn't be speculating a SG greatest hits, we'd be wondering what the next Soundgarden album would have on it cause the band would still be together. i personally love vinyl and limited stuff, the fun of collecting is the thrill of finding that lost 7" that only 5000 were made of. it's the sheer ecstacy of opening up a package and seeing the Room a Thousand Years Wide/ HIV Baby grape vinyl staring back at you FINALLY!!!! = ) (wink wink at you know who!) I love collecting the rare and limited stuff, no matter if it were Somms or Hunted Down/Nothing to Say. as they say, the chase is the best part. = ) i love it! nothing's better than shelling out $30 so you can walk home with that Fopp 12" in your arms! That is what life is truly all about!!! = ) mind riot ____ there must be something else there must be something good far away...far away from here... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SOUNDGARDEN 1984-1997 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 Aug 1997 00:57:18 -0400 From: Catherine Veit Subject: just a reminder HYPE will be available to buy @ every suncoast store (on the west at least) tomorrow morning. in case someone cares.
