I went through KMart, Target and Big W (People from places other than australia might not know what i'm going on about) and none of these places had any of their cds. As i am just learning to drive my Dad went to do some grocery shopping when i came across a magazine.. The New Weekly. On the cover it had some pictures of 'Sexy' people on it. This week's feature was the 50 sexiest people in the world. I had a look inside and they had other top 5 sexiest catagories. There was top 5 foods etc. When i came across top 5 songs i was amazed to see Soundgarden's Outshined come in at number two. I don't think many people would have heard that song here in Australia other than Soundgarden fans. Soundgarden doesn't get played very much here in Australia. If we have a 'triple play' play of them on the radio station i usually listen to the songs are always the same. They play BHS, Spoonman and one of the singles from DOTU. If u are lucky u might catch one of their other songs on the youth radio station JJJ. This brings me to the topic of what u were doing when they broke up. I was going through the various radio stations when i came across JJJ's nine thirty three. This is when people send in a request of 3 songs. They are usually based on a particular subject like 3 good songs with dumb names. On this day i heard My Wave. Wanting to hear what song came up next i was suprised they played BIMH (not sure if it was this. it was a song of the latest album). When this was all over the dj said that they had played a SG 933 and they had played JCP as the first song. I was disappointed when i missed out on JCP. This was nothing compared to when he said the reason for the 933. I was in shock and didn't feel like doing anything. I just sat on my bed for a while. I wasn't really upset or anything but i was shocked. I was hoping to see them again after they came here in Jan this year. Back on the Sexy thing.. Can someone in Australia confirm what i have read? Or is this magazine all over the world? This is my first post and I just wanted to tell everyone that Soundgarden could possibly be the best band of all time (as if you did not know). Most people say that Chris is irritant to them. I think that he is one of the best vocalists around. The best part of it is his screams. No one can immitate it. SG also is very unique in the way that they don't use just one style of guitar playing. It is all over the map. Not to mention one of the best drummers for SG's music. I am a drummer myself and cannot imitate many of Matt's amazing beats and fills (especially JCP). Anyways, just wanted to introduce myself to the mailing list. I had been listening to them in the car, came home, switched on the computer and got kicked in the guts. I couldn't listen to them after that. I couldn't listen to anything. I switched on MTV and suffered through crap waiting for the news, but I wasn't really hearing that stuff. The first song they played after the news was that stupid "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone" thing, which was the 1st time I heard it. ARRGHH! I will ALWAYS hate that song! If I didn't hate it anyway, I would just for that reason alone. And I couldn't look at them either the rest of that day, not easy to avoid doing in my house. I just kept my head down whenever I had to go into my studio for something. I felt like a kicked dog. On the 10th I had to listen to them and look at them. I had to dub a bunch of videos, and oh god! I don't want to talk about what that felt like. I had to work back into them gradually over the next several days. Some songs helped, others (like TDITTL) I just couldn't handle. And I don't think my husband would be too thrilled if I played them while we were making love. ha-ha! Bet you can guess why! SG had the movie screen and all the band members were there, cause it was a show. so, chris is smoking his cigarette during one of the songs and he's holding it through the metal rings and blowing the smoke out through the rings. he looks around into the audience and his eyes lock with mine. he takes a step and tosses the rings out into the audience, and everyone around me jumps up but i don't budge, i just stick my arm up in the air and grab them. he threw them right to me. my uncle was sitting next to me and he said something and i remember saying out loud "i could cry right now..." because it made me so happy. and they also played the helter skelter/boot camp medley and it made me cry, as did the BHS solo... (which both actually had me thisclose to weeping at the show i really saw). it was my 5th time seeing them or something, and in between songs, i walked outside and my rings started glowing purple and flying around. the dream got pretty strange and non-SG related after that, and i can't remember much of it anymore... dreams are so weird... mind riot ____ i must be pure and true i must contain my views ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SOUNDGARDEN 1984-1997 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Aug 1997 16:38:47 -0400 From: Dave Nailling Subject: Cornell's guitar sound?
