I thought that Chris's voice just sounded really bad on Tears to Forget. doesn't Matt do back up-on Outshined and Mind Riot, and Ben on Spoonman, and that's about it. oh yeah and is there a back-up singer on Big Dumb Sex? I hear two voices. It's probably just Chris twice, but there's a slim chance it could be Hiro ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Jul 1997 10:56:37 -0500 From: Barbarba Strong Subject: DOTU clear I got my DOTU clear still sealed for $11 at a vintage record store. Well, kinda. It's just that the intro to the new late-night show on VH1 called something like "Insomniac's Theater" has a few little possible Soundgarden references: * A guy appears at the beginning with a little red circle in his eye, much like the wheel in the eye at the end of the Pretty Noose Video. * The little red circle reappears, now projected much larger on the wall, it resembles a blurry, distorted wheel that strongly resembles the BMF cover art. * A blue guy appears for a few seconds (Ref: Blue guy in My Wave video) * Interspersed with the spacey insomniac music are a few guitar noodles that sound like some of the sounds from the "Alive In the Superunknown" CD-Rom content. * A guy tosses and turns in his bed, much like the poor fella in the "The Day I Tried to Live" video. (This one is the weakest because it's such an obvious representation of insomnia) I was wondering if maybe Frank Kozik or Henry Shepherd directed the spot. Oh, and the most un-Soundgarden aspect of the intro was these stuffed animal sheep mounted on spokes spinning on a wheel in that slow-slower motion (ya know like the Michael Jordan Nike commercial or the Chile's steamy burger commercial). -- Bad-forgodssakegotobed-Ben p.s. check out my new 'what i'm reading' .sig feature and feel bad for me for thinking that anyone else cares what i'm reading right now. I know fop means a narcissistic man but used as >a verb? >I just want to know that. I could be misremembering, but I seem to recall someone saying that FOPP was an acronym (which makes sense because it's in all caps). I believe the "OP" stood for Ohio Players, as it was originally written/performed by them. I'd kinda like to think the "F" stood for funky, but I could easily be wrong. EP stands for "Extended Play" -- CDs that aren't quite album-length (LPs, "Long Play") and that have about 4 or 5 songs on them. Also, as far as "FOPP" being a substitute for "fuck", I don't think it's a straight parallel. But it does seem like the writer (and soundgarden when they recorded it) were going for a certain euphimistic ambiguity. -- Bad-showmethemoney-Ben Ben Timberlake What I'm reading right now: btimlake@nwu.edu "One Hundred Years of Solitude" btimlake@aol.com by Gabriel Garcia Marquez "Ready or not, like it or not, here they come again. One day, in mid sentence, he mistakenly poured soy sauce instead of sugar in his tea and I watched while he unwittingly gulped it down." i thought that was pretty funny....how could mr. thayil have gotten soy sauce confused with sugar??! :o) i checked the bootleg link from seth's discography page, and i didn't see anything on it. can someone please help me out on this? thanks.... It made me want to listen to Ultramega so i have listened to it non-stop for like a week. Listen to the solo in Circle of Power, the mix is horrible, you can hardly hear it, but it completely kicks my ass every time i hear it. Oh yeah, PLEASE SEND ME YOUR PAGE ADDRESSES!!!!! I dont care how shitty your page is, I want your link.
