It's only half over when you reach the store parking lot, so you sit in the parking space banging away at the steering wheel and doing your best attempt at air guitar. Then when the song's over, and you put your hair back together (it was strewn all over your face =), you go to turn the radio off, and hit a different button for another station by accident (it was fate if you asked me =), BHS is just starting on that station. So, like the crazed, obsessed lunatic you are, you sit in the car for another head banging session until the songs completely over and you've waited around one minute to see what the dj will say about your precious band. God save lissa.... it's not like I've heard that song before? =P```` "Now trouble's far away, and mother's in her cage" ;o)~ "Remember I love you, love you" love, lissa =) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Jul 1997 12:48:43 GMT From: Greg Dunbar Subject: Re: Metallica are Soundgarden fans >Hey people. Anyway, Raine was telling us a cool story about a SG experience him and some friends had. It sounded like a lot of fun & I would have liked to have been there. If you were freaked out cause they drank & got stoned (there are a lot of people who party on this planet - in case you didn't know) You need to reread the post. He wasn't telling how he gained insight to the song because he was plastered. HA.........man, talk about >an attitude... wow, i really do know how to call 'em, don't i? i *did* feel slightly guilty about being so contentious, but after such a horrifyingly ignorant, sexist (and not to mention trite) remark as that, i don't care. actually, marc, the source of my agitation came from the fact that, prior to coming home and reading your strikingly brilliant post, i'd had a wonderful evening which, for the most part, consisted of a string of arguments w/ another marvelously intelligent person who, upon discovering that sg was my favorite band, referred to them as "sell outs", and then went on to accuse me of listening to them b/c they were "an mtv band". well, i assume i don't have to illustrate what happened after that. yes, i really should just take these remarks for what they are, consider who they're coming from and not let them get to me. normally i do... but sometimes i just can't. i cannot reiterate enough that no matter how many times a song has been covered, who it's been covered by, how many times you've seen the mvid, how many times the top 40 stations have played it, or how many trendies sing along, *IT'S STILL THE SAME SONG*, still has the same meaning, is still just as beautiful, as original, as important. that's 1 thing which can never change. and i'm not afraid or ashamed to say- never have been never will- that when i hear my favorite song on the radio, or see that my favorite band is no.1, i'm thrilled, i'm excited, i'm happy. i liked hearing BHS 5 times a day- liked it? i loved it! i loved knowing that something i cared about so much, that meant so much to me, was out there for *all the world to hear*. i was *proud*. of course it didn't make me love them any more than i already did- that would've been impossible. i would've loved them no matter what. and in a way being no.1 is nothing to be admired, b/c look who normally is no. 1 and look who probably never will be. some of my favorite bands'll probably always be obscure- how many ppl have heard of grant lee buffalo? but knowing that once, just once, my favorite was on top, above all the rest... it was exhilarating. ciao... This weekend I went to the Gathering of the Clans at Grandfather Mountain, NC to celebrate my Scottish roots. (I'm of the Wallace clan.) Of the 50 or so clans there, the Cameron clan was probably the biggest clan represented. Matt would feel right at home in my corner of the world! They were definitely the coolest during the Parade of Tartans with all the flag-waving, banner-toting in their full tartan regalia! If you've never seen Scottish pageantry, it's hard to describe. Think of the massed armies in Braveheart. As opposed to some people, I thought McCready looked cool in a kilt, and I would LOVE to see Matt in one!!! Is it SG Obsession when you take pictures of the Cameron clan even though they have nothing to do with you? Life Rules! "and thats not what we want". i guess my bottom line here is, if you dont tell someone that stealing is wrong, and they steal, is it there fault.? Now i know all you sommsters out there are a very intelegent bunch, and cant imagin that ignorance exists, but it does. and people who bash "just dont get it" so i think its the responsibility of all you "sg defenders of the public" *you know who you are* to handel the repremand you feel necesarry PRIVATELY. and lastly..... for anyone who is hung up about the origional persons feelings being hurt, "in this case the writer of the sg moment under the stars" suggest to the basher that a public appology be made...... thats all. send all hate mail reguarding my "peace loving" post to GARDNER167@AOL.COM thanks.....mike"tryingtomakethelistahappyplace"smith. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Jul 1997 16:27:58 -0500 From: Geoff Subject: Re: campfires & sg moments Doh! Just break up the download for an hour a day or whatever makes sense for you . . . here is the bad news though: ten.shocking.com supports resumed downloads (as many servers do now) So if your a user like me, it will be easier on my roommates for me to see the movies. BUT!!!, SGI.NET DOES NOT SUPPORT RESUMED DOWNLOADS! Ok, so half way through the meal this band starts playing and my dad somehow talked to the guitar player and told him I play guitar. So, while Im scarfing down my food, the singer says my name and invites me to play onstage. I was of course wearing my fav soundgarden shirt ( superunknown one) and the drummer said "cool shirt!". Soon, singer dude asks me what I can play and I say uuhhh... fell on black days? and he says ok cool, and starts singing it( not as good as chris, but oh well.:) So I was up there jamming, smiling like a complete dumbass and in a messed up tempo, but all the while, I was like this is soo cool! now I know how awesome it feels to be up on stage, performing. ... performing a soundgarden song to say the least! Ok, I know that this has been "solved" before, but this is causing me a headache. It involves the age-old topic of Matt and the single/double kick drum. To all the drummers out there, take a GOOD HARD LONG listen to Flower. I don't know about you, but I cannot have my hands on a snare drum, hi hat, and floor tom at the same time...I only have two arms and the last time I checked, so did Matt... The double pedal sounding thing and the snare/hi hat sound like they are too close together. I didn't think even Lars is that fast. Maybe if someone knew they could write out what Matt's kit config. was for that recording. You know, like a written out schematic type of thing. That might help solve the problem.
