Last night i got in my video boot of Reading from the wonderful Kelly! (thanks and i'll hvae christi on it's way to you ASAP!) so i was watching it, and i had totally forgotten what songs were actually played. so Hands all over was a nice surprise, especially when CC sang the last verse with words from S&Bulldozers instead. Ben looked over at kim like "what's he doing?!" was funny. they guy who was taping did a good job from where he was. You can't see matt at all, you never see him once. so that's a downfall, i love watching matt. And you only see crazy ben when he goes flying across the stage in one of his "things" that he does so well. but, okay, my main point here is that the version of Waiting for the Sun was just great. Seeing christi played and knowing that i've also got it on tape, it was just this occurrance that kinda made the song complete to me. But, hearing 4th of july played live was a real treat. CC was definately very into the song and he was moving with the guitar and took the high route on the 2nd and 3rd choruses, but in the third chorus completely forgot the words! total mind blank for him! he started re-singing verse 2, then realized he was wrong and said something, then hit the Roman Candle line. i felt so bad for him. i'm sure he didn't give two shits, but i felt bad. = ) And in the end of Hands All Over, (the *very* end, where's CC's kinda whispering "I love her..." over and over) it was enough to make me cry. I actually cried! I was sitting there watching, and CC's grabbing the microphone with his head tilted sideways like he does whispering the line and you see Ben's arm flashing on and off the screen from him attacking the bass and Kim is really all over his guitar, hair flying and feedback.... if i could have seen Matt it would have been the most perfect SG moment ever. That one maybe 20 second stretch was, to me, what soundgarden was all about to me. it was amazing, and it made me terribly sad because.. .. well, we all know why. = ( so that's my story. mind riot ____ long time coming many served the few... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SOUNDGARDEN 1984-1997 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 Jul 1997 12:57:21 -0400 From: Rachel Potter Subject: shroom's web site can someone please send me shroom's web page address?!?!?!?!!! i need it bad! it has that pic of chris cornell and he's saying "i know you want to see my nipples... but you can't ha ha ha" thanks, -Rachel ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 Jul 1997 13:21:07 -0700 From: Fetal Bliss Subject: Re: hmmm > when you're driving along the thruway and you stick your head out > of the car to listen to that weird noise it's making and your > soundgarden hat flys away, and you're upset, but not too upset because > for one, you have fifty million other soundgarden hats, and you don't > want to stop the car and run back and get it because it's lying in the > middle of the road and you value your life more than you value the hat. > i miss that hat, though You know you're obsessed with Soundgarden when you jump out of that moving vehicle and break most of your bones (before another half-dozen cars run over you), but you get your hat back! I was stunned.. we chatted about the different concerts (I went the 18th) for like 20 minuets.. and then last week I went in again (wearing my Superunkown shirt..) and my orthodontist started up a conversation on Kim's playing tenchnique! You Know Your Obsessed With Soundgarden When: hearing one of their songs on the radio, or Mtv can wake yuo from a deep sleep you make a call to your local radio station at 1 in the morning to yell at them for saying Dusty was on Superunkown.. you have mowed the Soundgarden symbol into your back yard on awards day at school you recieve an award from your health teacher for "Being a true Soundgarden fan".. in front of the whole school. you have burned pages from magazines and newspapers that have insdulted Soundgarden in any way the day after the break up people you dont even know ask you if yuor going to be okay, and that when they first heard they thought of you first.. their is a shrine to them in your room somewhere you have Chris's phone number, have memorized it, and use it as a password reading New Metal Crown can make you cry for no apparent reason your parents know all the words to their songs, and your dad made you take him with you to the concert your science teacher gives you daily reports on Chris's activites, since she lives down the street from him you have attached yourself to your science teacher, and her car in vain attempts to find out where she lives none of your friends have any Soudngarden stuff, because they give everything they find to you and lastly, when you have a strange compulsion to capitalize all words starting with S. Earlier this week, I hung out with a friend I hadn't seen in about 3 years. Needless to say, we had lots to talk about! Anyway, the conversation naturally touched the music category (brought up by me :) and I asked her what type of music she listens to now and she said she listens to pretty much everything. I told her my favorite band is SG and how they broke up April and how much it upset me at the time. She said that she really liked a song by them. I was like "WOW! What song?!?!?!?! Tell me! Tell me! Tell me!" Then she tells me her mom likes the song too and she calls it the "coca-cola song." I automatically thought of the BUTOW video and I was wondering if the coca-cola symbol or something was shown in the video. I couldn't remember because there's alot of fast images going by. I haven't seen that particular video in a while, but I thought about it real hard and I was pretty sure the video didn't have anything coca-cola related in it. This was all within a 1 minute period that all of this was going through my mind. Then it hit me! She was thinking of the Savage Garden song "I Want You." I think that's the name of it. I was kinda disappointed. I mean, that Savage Garden song is alright, but I thought she was actually into SG. :( I was so down. Yep, you guys are my SG friends. Now, on to the obsessed thread. :) I thought up a bunch of them and sent them to Shroom and they're on her obsessed page. I haven't really been able to think up any more *really* good ones, but just for the sake of being evil....You know you're obsessed with SG when you're willing to sacrifice a Spice Girl in the name of SG. >:) Or least send them into exile away from any type of media and make them wear bras and lots of clothes over the bras. >:) That's the best I can do and I'm just kidding.
