I'm listening to the Nosebleed right now (thanks a billion times to Velvtongue the Great who taped it for me again when my stereo ate it) and I'm writing the songs down on the little insert thingy. I looked it up on Steven's discography and wrote down the setlist to it on a piece of paper that I'm always misplacing so I decided to just listen to the boot (oh poor me!!! :) and write down the songs as I hear them. Well, Mood For Trouble came on. This isn't a song I listen to a whole lot so I'm not as completely familiar with it as some other SG songs. (Note: Familiar being listening to the song 12,563,098 times. :) Anyway, I recognized it when it first came on and wrote down in ink, Mood For Trouble on my little card. Then Chris starts singing and he sings "the ugly truth for everyone to hear." Can anybody guess what I thought when I heard that??? :) I suffered a severe SG brain cramp!! In those first few seconds that followed hearing that line, I was THOROUGHLY CONVINCED that I had made a mistake and I need to get some white out because the song was actually Ugly Truth!! I had actually believed that long enough to panic because I don't have any white out! :) Then I realized that I was an unsuspecting victim of a brain cramp. I tell ya, those things just sneak right up on you. Anybody else have any funny SG brain cramp moments? May Soundgarden be with you. There is a brand-spanking new just a note for australian sommsters - shock records will be releasing the wwc record (on compact disc) nationally sometime in the next month so that fans of john, ted and zeb won't have to rely on import stores. for brisbane listers, skinnys records will be getting in a limited number of copies soon. I reserved mine yesterday, which means there is only one going to be one copy left for whoever gets there first ;) still on things australian, I finally bought the powderfinger record, _double allergic_, yesterday, and it is a *very* solid album. I urge non-australian listers to find this record and listen to it; I favour it over you am I's most recent effort. interesting powederfinger trivia that came to me by word of mouth - at one time there was a strong possibility that the band would be signed to silver management, but susan said no for whatever reason. lead singer bernard fanning is also a huge soundgarden fan; he used to drive his flatemate crazy by listening to _badmotorfinger_ all hours of the day :) and to answer jen's original question, 'cleaning my gun' and 'ocean fronts' were never commercially released. they were obviously recorded at some point (as the credits on the official page indicate), but I don't think anyone outside the band has access to them. ----------------------------------------------- in your real life, treat it like it's special in your real life, try to be more kind in your real life, think of those that love you in this real life, try to be less blind words by vernon reid ---------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Jun 1997 19:29:33 -0400 From: Justin Kerner Subject: cool stuff If anyone is thinking about taking a vacation and not sure where to go, i recommend Alberquerque. Well I was reading an old magazine article in a friends magazine and it was a really big interview with Chris Cornell. He said that one morning he wasw asleep in bed when he heard a noise in his living room, and that a helpless little bird had flown through his window and was half dead. He grabbed a brick and painfully decided to put it out of it's misery. He was so compelled by this that he wrote a song about it. If anybody knows any more stories like this, mail me. Many hapy hours surfing. Love Dave :-) ------------------------------ End of SOMMS Digest - 18 Jun 1997 to 19 Jun 1997 ************************************************
