I just heard it (thanks to the wonderful Fiona Thiessen) and I like it! I'm not much into remixes but I really like this one. I like the Moby remix of Dusty too. I really don't like the Spoonman remix and I'm not too fond of the Fopp remix either. I've noticed that there are alot of "classic" or "popular" SG songs that alot of people like that I've never been able to get into. (Note: this being based on posts by fellow sommsters who know a little bit more about SG than just BHS.) They being: Slaves & Bulldozers (I've never really cared much for this song.) JCP (Blasphemy, I know.) SWMGEC (It doesn't do anything for me.) (I have mixed emotions about all of SU right now.) Ty Cobb (I'm getting tired of this song very quickly.) BUTOW (Nope.) Applebite (Will skip it in heartbeat.) Even though I prefer not to listen to these songs, I would still rather hear them than songs by other bands. These are just my least favorite SG songs, but ALL SG songs are better than the poppy-crap that's invading the airwaves nowadays. But I have b-sides to take the place of some of those SG songs I don't really care for. I love just about all of SG's b-sides. My favorites are: Fresh Deadly Roses Cold Bitch Nowhere But You Fluttergirl Dusty remix Rhinosaur remix Then there's also those cool cover songs: Thank You (Falletin Me Be Mice Elf Again) (I love this song!!!!) Big Bottom (I know I know, but I still love it anway.) Earache My Eye (I can't help it!) Into the Void (Black Sabbath. Need I say more?) The point of this post? You can still completely love SG without completely loving all of their songs. May Soundgarden be with you. Its not that I'm getting tired of it, but I never really liked it in the first place. But I have to disagree on what you dislike. You don't like Jesus Christ Pose? or Applebite? Sure, both Slaves and Bulldozers and Blow Up... are really simple songs but Chris rules on them. He screams real well ya know. Soundgarden should have been on the Sream soundtrack! I was reading a magazine the other day, and low and behold, it said that Soundgarden were going to relese one of their albums called "Satan Oscillate My Metallic Sonatas", which is called a palindrome, ie. if ya turn it around, then it says exactly the same thing. The tribute is interspersed with shots of Jeff doing "Mojo Pin" and "Grace" from the "Grace" video. John Huckenberry (J H) In the Edgewise Studio. Chris Cornell (C C) Sitting in an outside patio-like area. Lenny Kaye (L K) Producer/Guitarist. On outside porch area. Penny Arcade (P A) Performer. Sitting on a park bench. George Stein (G S) Manager. On sidewalk against wall. Gary Lucas (G L) Musician. On couch in home. J H: Edgewise is back, I=92m John Huckenberry. On May 29, the enormously gifted young singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley was in Memphis to record his second album. On a lark he took a night-time swim in the river and disappeared. Last week his body was found. Pulled from the water near Beale Street where Elvis Presley and other music legends began their careers. At age 30, Buckley=92s career was on the rise. There was tremendous critical acclaim for his first album, Grace and he had emerged from the shadow of his Father, folk music legend Tim Buckley, who also died young from an overdose of heroin. Now; In Appreciation of Jeff Buckley, from his friends and fellow musicians "Mojo Pin" begins. C C: He could have literally been doing anything musically that he wanted to do, and uh, it=92s uh, I would think of it like I would think of Jimi Hendrix, where there=97you know there=92s no real way to predict = it, =91cause he could=92ve done anything. L K: The first time I heard the news was when my Buddy Tom Clark called me up and told me Jeff was missing. P A: The first thing that crossed my mind was like just this huge, "No?". C C: Something just kinda happens where it=92s just like, oh, it=92s lik= e your in a movie where you walk out of real life and there=92s movie time now. You know? It=92s like, "I=92m acting like I=92m in a movie. This = isn=92t real." L K: You know, sometimes, you unreel the string a little bit too far.=20 And you wind up being a little distant from the shore. G S: Jeff decided, playfully, to go into the water. Wade into the water. Do the backstroke. Fool around. Keith, turned around and Jeff was=97gone. P A: And then I thought of like, you know, "Cut the mythology, Jeff.=20 Please. Like do you have to drown in the fucking=97you know, Mississippi River?" And then I heard that he was found floating at the, you know, near Beale Street, it was like,"--Okay...". "Grace" begins G L: It was the kind of collaboration that I dream about actually. He slowly would sing a few lines here and there. And uh, it was almost like he didn=92t want to reveal, you know, his plan for the song. And just uh, you know, wait until the last moment. His voice sounded, like you know, an angel. It was like a gift from god. L K: I never heard, such a range and such a purity. When he would place one note against the other, you could actually see it=92s kind of=20 "roundness". C C: He had a way of playing the most beautiful songs you=92ve ever hear= d and singing them. And still with the way that he sang, create a bit of an uncomfortable edge to it if he felt like it. And now, he did that mostly with his voice. "And the rain is falling, and I believe my time has come." P A: "It reminds me of the pain I might leave behind." L K: "Wait in the fire." G L: "I=92m not afraid to go, but it goes so slow." G S: "Wait in the fire." P A: I think, you know, he like, was on his back. He was singing. And I think he had that thought, "I hope this second will last forever."=20 And it did. A moment of silence. J H: A Tribute to Jeff Buckley. Give his album Grace and listen and you=92ll realize the talent that is lost forever. --=20 gene ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 Jun 1997 15:22:10 -0700 From: Jennifer Kern Subject: DONT MISS TONIGHT! Whenever it comes to guitar, you have to remember that everyone has their own style. Kim is probably one of the best guitarists out there. You have to remeber that. Kim also has that cool double jointed thumb thing to help him out. I only have double jointed elbows. One reason you may feel that Kim's style is so strict and refined, is because he doesn't take a lot of risks. He does take them on Slaves & Bulldozers and New Damage and they pay off creating a cool sound. Superunknow though is a pretty simple guitar album besides the solos. Real complicated guitar would be Marty Freidman or the OLD Kirk Hammet.
