He sings both, and both lines are listed on your lyric sheet!! One right above the other!! When I first heard Loud Love, I thought he said "I've been dead, now I want more" (I didn't have the benefit of a lyric sheet at that point). I just happened to notice the lyrics when I was looking at the lyrics for full on Kev's mom! Peace. > He IS singing "Head high you've got to smile", only because it doesn't say so in the book doesn't mean he isn't singing that line. The lyrics say: "head high got to smile" which he never sings, and then "Head high like a song you like" which he sings ONCE, in the end of the song. He sings "head high you've got to smile" every time the book says "head high got to smile". /martin. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 7 Jun 1997 11:37:18 -0700 From: Jordan Snodgrass Subject: I don't understand. I know I'm going to get my ass flamed, but this is how I feel. So be it. I don't understand this blatant ass-kissing of Seth. It seems as if a lot of people think that if they "know" Seth ("think" is the key word), they're somehow closer to the band. Yeah, it's great what Seth has done for the band and all that stuff, and it's great hes graduated and blah blah, but it doesn't needed to be posted to the list. Why did I just read a Soundgarden mailing list that was 90% ass kissing to the admin? I just don't understand. It should be done privately. By posting to the list, that shows me that you want to be "seen" with Seth, kind of like in high school when everyone wants to be "seen" with the cool people. The fact of the matter is that no one else cares how much you can kiss the cool peoples' ass. And frankly, I don't think Seth cares for your ass kissing either. Now I know I shouldn't be speaking for Seth here, but to me, ass kissing is a blatant turn off. It's usually clear to the ass-kissee, but it's always hidden to the ass-kisser. Perhaps if it was in PERSONAL email, it'd be more personal (obvisouly) and it can be taken as a more sincere message, but having to broadcast your feelings to the rest of the world is just futile. Now I do enjoy reading this list...when it's about Soundgarden. Don't take this post the wrong way. It's just how I feel. If you wish to flame, DO SO PRIVEATELY, or else everything I have just claimed will be confirmed. Thank you, and now back to our sponsors. -- js. mailto:jasnodgr@ucsd.edu http://sdcc8.ucsd.edu/~jasnodgr/um/ Tapes - http://sdcc8.ucsd.edu/~jasnodgr/tapes/ "and that's jordan, not jason." -me ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 7 Jun 1997 15:21:15 EDT From: seth Subject: Re: I don't understand. He does have a point, folks... it *is* a Soundgarden list, so no more of this silly graduation talk unless you're going to do it privately. Thanks to all of you who did sene email, both public and private. I appreciate it. :) Some of you have questioned the future of the list now that I'm done with MIT. The answer? Nothing will change. I've arranged for it to be hosted here even after I'm gone. I need to get some sleep. -seth ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 7 Jun 1997 16:38:43 -0400 From: Joe Petersen Subject: yet more wacky ass lyrics... June 5, Ben Timberlake wrote: <> I had the same misconceptions about spoonman. it really does sound like "scared of death" and "in the end" but probably the wackiest misheard lyric of the bunch is what im about to list, and its completely true. the first lyric in Mind Riot, when chris says "I was slipping through the cracks of a stolen jewel" i honestly theorized that he said "I was slipping through the cracks of a Stalin Jew". hand to god. and i actually tried to ponder what this meant, like a Stalin Jew was some deep symbolic thing. What a loser i am!! keep gardening... Loco Joe ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 7 Jun 1997 13:59:08 -0700 From: Jennifer Kern Subject: Hater show Hello everyone. Thought I would post about the Hater show, since I don't know if anyone else from the list was there. Now first let me tell you, that it was a benefit show and there were around 8 bands playing on two different stages. That said, obviously it was a rather short set that they played. If my memory serves me correctly, it was maybe around 40 minutes long. The performance itself, was fantastic. They played their newer material, which I really loved, and they all seemed to be having a great time. Matt sang a song (Not Sad McBain, I don't know what the name of it was), and throughout the whole show Ben was joking with the audience, dancing, making faces, and goofing around with his bandmates. I was very impressed with Ben's vocals. Much better than the last time I remember. He's a very good screamer. I know, hard to believe. ;) Due to all that was going on that evening, the crowd was small (And no moshers!) 'Tis a pity, it was one of the better performances I've seen. I don't have that many, but here they are: In BHS, I always thought the line "stuttering, cold and damp" was "start a rain, cold and damp." Which sort of makes sense.... I was convinced that that was the line until I finally got up and checked the lyrics. =P And in Head Down, I also thought the line "Head down, like a song you like" was "Head down you've got to smile." In fact, I still thought that a few days ago until I read SOMMS... Ha! :)~ And finally, this one goes out to the Man Seth: WOOOOHOOOO!!! CONGRATULATIONS, SETH!!! YOU ROCK!!! :) :) :) :) :) :) ~ Wednesday ~ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 7 Jun 1997 18:19:01 -0400 From: Lance Huber Subject: Re: Seth goes to the real world without a rain coat (c: Seth, Congratulations!!!!! They are songs wrote for Ozzy (Unholy War, Stolen Prayer, & Heartfist) which Ozzy never did use. However, Alice Cooper did use Unholy War & Stolen Prayers on his 'Last Temptation of Alice' album & he completely fucked them up. They sound awful (even for Alice Cooper). However, there is one redeeming value in these Alice Cooper versions.Chris sings back-up on Stolen Prayers. Other than that they are shit when sung by Alice. It is also cool because there are a few Temple of the Dog demos that did not make it to the album. (Black Cat - Matt is in rare form on this one, & Angel on Fire) plus the original demo for Reach Down. Chris is incredible on this one! But I do agree with Paul, Stolen Prayers is a must have!!!!!! If you never buy another Soundgarden boot-leg, buy this one if you ever come across it. It is worth every penny of the cost. I ran across it a couple of years ago & paid $30 for it & I'd pay twice that now. It is one of my favorite SG collections & by far my favorite bootleg. Just some ramblings for those of you who may not have already know this!
