Anyone know what time the > Soundgarden stuff will be on? I don't wanna miss it! From what I remember, the spotlight is on at 4:30 my time, meaning 2:30 their time? Then it repeats 4 hours later. Perhaps I will check the Much Music website (http://www.muchmusic.com). Ahh, it says the spotlight is on at 7:30 pm & 11:30 pm ET / 8:30 pm & 12:30 am AT / 4:30 pm & 8:30 pm PT (copied straight from their page). Greetings everyone! Last night I was listening to a show called Hard Drive on 98Rock, a Baltimore station. Although I think the show is a national one. Anyway, they started the show off with a double shot of Soundgarden (Pretty Noose and Rhinosaur). Afterwards the DJ guy said that he'd heard from Seattle Mariners pitcher Randy Johnson, a friend of Kim Thayil, that Soundgarden was eventually going to get together again -- " They just need a 1 or 2 year break away from eachother, that's all". Supposedly, the DJ was quoting Johnson who was in turn quoting Kim. Wouldn't that be fantastic!!! I hope this is actually true and not some made up crap. Personally I got real happy when i heard it:-). Did anyone else hear it? What does everyone else think? Did anyone >else hear it? What does everyone else think? i think that until we actually hear chris, kim, ben or matt say the words, "soundgarden is getting back together" or "this is just a hiatus", or see a press release from silver management to that effect, that any thoughts of any type of reunion whatsoever are way way WAY premature. everyone and their mother has theories and speculations about soundgarden, and if it isn't from a band member, it's about as reliable as my mother telling me that they're getting back together. it's just like the speculation on chris' solo career: until we actually see an album in the store, or at least added to a release schedule, and there's an interview with chris on ATN saying, "i am going into the studio to record a solo album" it's all just rumor. unconfirmed. no basis in fact. no matter what your local alternastation chooses to tell you. just because someone is a dj doesn't mean they know a fucking thing, and most of them steal their news from addicted to noise (try comparing sometimes...) it's like henry rollins said last night, after he consoled the audience at the moore on the breakup of sg: "can't wait to see what the guys will do next, probably some awesome stuff, you can stay home but *i'm* sure gonna check it out!" --caryn ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Jun 1997 15:49:17 -0500 From: NIKI FREER Subject: Re: hater Speaking of hater shows, as jen grover mentioned, has hater ever played outside of Seattle, or Washington state at least? because i love them and i'm too young to just up and off to seattle for a weekend to catch hater. = ) i was just wondering if they have. and if not, does anyone think they may be planning a small tour-ish type thing? *sigh* looking for some good shows around here, mind riot ____ i've kept the movie rolling but the story's getting old now... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SOUNDGARDEN 1984-1997 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Jun 1997 15:47:32 -0700 From: Fetal Bliss Subject: Re: A reason for hope? Sorry :\ Though I myself wondered, with the "official" anouncement, it said that the members were splitting to pursue other interests. If that's the case, why not just go on hiatus? Why make an "official" split? Let's hope anyway. OKAY, OKAY... but the comparison to Bon Jovi and such... not in the best taste. ^_^ > As far as sarcasm goes, well obviously I was joking, mind you if any of SG > were in a tv show, no matter what kind, Id be watching it! Only if they were on The Simpsons: the ONLY good show left on TV... well, there is Talk Soup, too... I dunno. This in response to a couple of responses to my post "A reason for hope?"-- At no time did I state the information in my post as fact. I did state, though indirectly, that the information was third hand -- qualified by the fact that I said "supposedly". I fully realized at the time that the information could have been a fabrication -- shit, in other words. I just feel that I owe it to others,on the list, to report any new information about Soundgarden as I hear it. If my post was too optimistic for some of you, sorry; but, I will not apoligize for having written my post or its tone. I understand that by having posted it in the first place, I left myself open to criticism -- but please don't shoot the messenger. I just hope that some of you realize that happiness is allowed on the list. If not, would someone please forward the rules?
