I know I'm gonna attract flames here, but aren't we taking the article in Seventeen just a little bit too seriously? So, Chris may not be too impressed by the article if he were to read it, and neither would Susan, but the whole thing strikes me as mere conjecture, rather than a story laced with facts. >Romantic prognosis: There's potential here! For now, they decide to be >just friends, but things may change if Chris' marriage goes on the rocks >and Liv decides she wants a father figure. Where in this is it said that Chris and Susan's marriage IS on the rocks? I don't see it. I may not think much of the article as a profound piece of journalism, but I also don't see the need to get hot under the collar. And I won't even ASK what's wrong with Silverchair, on the chance of being un-subbed for bringing up something not related to SG. Well, I'm gone to look for my flame resistant helmit... As for the US/BMW discussion, the guy who originally wrote that said that he sent it from his work and when it went thru the firewall or something, the spellchecker changed it all.. and it turned out like it did.. one hell of a huge mass of typos.. and the guy apologised.. i thought it was funny actually.. eheheh SEVENTEEEEN.. you guys all know that teen mags like that are going to "glamourise" anything they can.. i don't know much about journalism, but they're writing to teenaged girls who crave [hey i'm making this up, so don't write back to me and ask me for proof to this.. ehehe] for their role models (pretty actresses/rock stars) to be matched.. ooooh what a dream couple that would be... Hey, and if i remember correctly, the article said that it was a FANTASY.. simply that.. they're not criticising him personally.. i know it's a little insulting to some, but don't let a stoopid article get you angry.. i'm sure chris wouldn't even care.. and just because someone knows more about Soundgarden doesn't make them higher and/or mightier than someone else who is interested in them.. it's a free world Sassy from this list sent me a copy of Fresh Deadly Rarities.. :) thankyouthankyouthankyou Sassy :) and the list too.. i didn't know there were ppl that were nice enough to just send me a tape without me doing anything! despite the occasional tensions i think this list is great.. :) it's a cool tape.. i haven't heard the Devo version of Girl U Want, but this one is soooo great.. i get chills.. just the start of it.. Delete if you have no wish to know about You Am I. The album I believe you are talking about is "Hourily Daily", it was released in Australia, some time at the start of last year, it is being released in the US (and probably other countries) with two different tracks to the Aust version. This was b/c it was a very "local-orientated" record, if you know what i mean. Alot of the songs are about Australian life, esp the two being taken off. For all us Aussies, those two songs will be released here as an ep or a single. Fiona PS why are all these ppl replying to that guy that wrote SAG etc in his post??? I know this was mentioned a while back, but I forgot exactly where... Anyways, those of you who have cable probably share this problem: MTV is airing the top 500 videos of all time this week. The problem is, they start at 12 noon. Who the flying #%^$%^$ is home from work at 12 noon??!! Most of the people who don't work are at school anyways. So, during the last video of each day, MTV gives a listing of the videos played that day. Of course, while I was at work they played: RHCP: Soul to squeeze (w/Chris Farley -- hilarious!) U2: Desire (classic stuff, not that techno "Pop" crap) TEMPLE OF THE DOG: HUNGERSTRIKE AAARRRGGHHHH!!!! I totally wigged out cuz I missed taping it!! So my question is this: Does anyone have, or know where I can get, a compilation of SG videos, including the Temple OTD videos? I was thinking a comprehensive type thing--I definitely want all the videos. The interviews/etc. are nice to have, but I at least want the videos if that's all I can get. But just imagine how gorgeously videogenic their kids would be! -------------------------------------------------------------------- Imagine if we didn't always place emphasis on the way people looked! You'd be out of a job!! Gorgeous! -------------------------------------------------------------------- Who asks who: Neither, since they're both kinda shy. Their magnetism simply pulls them toward each other. --------------------------------------------------------------------- That's right, 'cause Chris is just a swinger. The man doesn't NEED words! He just goes up to girls and kisses 'em full out! Next thing ya know, they're doing the horizontal mambo! -------------------------------------------------------------------- What they wear: Liv's in one of those flowery dresses she fancies. Chris wears jeans but goes topless. -------------------------------------------------------------------- That's right, because Chris never wears shirts, duh!! Even though he hasn't been shot without one since, like, BadMambaFroger or something, he struts around without a shirt on in RL! Feel that crisp Seattle air! ----------------------------------------------------------------- Where they go: To catch Silverchair in concert, where they hangout backstage. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Because, hey, why go catch a band you enjoy or a band that your friends with when you can go see a band that blatantly copies you and is merely a novelty!! --------------------------------------------------------------------- Who pays: Neither. These two are the queen and king of comp! Their all access passes get them all the freebie food and drink they want. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Wow! I wanna be a rock star!! Imagine, all the Whoppers I could eat! and for free!!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- What they talk about: The up and downsides of having your mom (in Liv's case) and your wife (in Chris') as your manager. How gross it is when journalists drool during interviews. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Of course, if they're out on a date (how gorgeously titilatting!), Chris might want to stay away from that whole *wife* subject. And God knows how those wacky reporters have no control over themselves! Only people who write for seventeen are true professionals about such things! Romantic prognosis: NEGATIVE (for all you seinfeld buffs). It had to be done folks. I really can't stand that tennybopper crap. God only knows why you would over something so silly, but.... here's the deal y'all.... About the middle of March, my friend (who's a freshman, whom I know from being on the swim team) mentioned to me that Chris Cornell was in her new 'TEEN magazine. I said, "yeah right", and laughed... and she said, "no really... I'll rip the page out for you... you can have it". So the next day she brought it in. And what did it say? Well it said..... >Celebrity Matchmaker >irresistible Liv Tyler + Chris Cornell and so on.... any way, after I laughed my ass off (who wouldn't? =), I mentioned on the aol SG folder, and I think Shroomy dear was the one who piped up saying she had heard or seen it..... now in case none of you know... the april issue of all fashion mags usually come in the middle of the preceding month, as in every month. so, the april issue of 'TEEN magazine came in march. ANYWAY.... the moral to this story is, somms (seth, oh mighty master, sir ;-) people, is.... if you're gonna write horrible, insulting.... and downright nasty letters, and emails to SEVENTEEN.... (heh.... you baaaad sommsters), WAIT!!!!! Make sure you send them to 'TEEN!!!! Unless you want to insult SEVENTEEN for any future screwups they might produce.....? But, the only semi-article type thingie I've seen in SEVENTEEN is a little blurp about Hype! and they said nothing wrong in there..... Well, have fun making fun of me..... b/c I've lowered myself to reading horrible teenager, mainstream magazines!!! And btw, this was just a gift of info..... not to correct you by saying I know more than you or some shit like that. So, please DO NOT TAKE OFFENSE TO THIS POST, I MEAN NO HARM!!!!!!!!! "Who wants me?" (chuckle, chuckle.... ) thanks Shroom!! "Alllll Daaaaayyyy IIII Dreeeeeaaaaamm Abooouuut Seeeeeexxxxxx!!!!!!!!!" Tumble in the buff- parody of Tumble in the Rough by Stone Temple Pilots yes, I'm sure most of you already know this stuff.... but not everyone is as well informed as you!! And not everyone is as tortured as I am, and somehow (oh God) actually knows who the hell Dru Hill is and what he sings..... how come y'all don't live near me??? =)~ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 May 1997 22:45:09 -0700 From: McMahon Potvin Subject: about the album sales....yeah, it's a thing that goes round and round I remember 2 weeks ago when people brought up the fact that most bands WITH talent weren't doin so well.....that bands like No Doubt, Bush, Spice Boobs and other corny soundin groups were on top of most charts..... Well, it's pretty easy to see what happened here. First off, we had the 80s sound that, except for a select few, lacked talent (Twisted Sisters (heheh), Motley Crew, New KIds on the whatever, ....).... People got bored of such bands and turned to actually talented bands (The whole Seattle grunge scene) that brought a new genuine sound and lyrics that actually reflected what most youth felt.... no bull, no keyboards, no purple hair, no leather suits with spikes all over the freakin place, no rebel attitude....you get the picture... Then, i meen now, people are tired of talented bands and are turning back to bands keyboards, weird attires, purple hair or whatever gets em on.....oh, and a new feature : in-yo-face bouncin boobs.....sigh... Well, my dad actually told me that really SLAPPED MY FACE.......he told me i was goin through the same thing he went through when he was a big beattles fan... he told me that time changes.....well, basically, he told me that the fact that i really HATE the bands that are hot today and that my fav band is no more made me an authentic old fart.....AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! MY FELLOW SOMMSTERS, please tell me he's wrong!!!!! Pleeeeaaaaaaaaassssseeeeee!!!! I know a WHOLE lot of you will slap me upside the head for writin this post....but i'm ready to take it.... I HAD TO express these shitty feeilings among fellow fans.....only you can help me!!! caught in a room a 1000 years wide........ Marc "happy birthday to DOTU!!!!!!!!!" ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 May 1997 20:04:04 -0700 From: Rachel Thompson Subject: Re: before y'all do something drastic..... Stupid me, stupid my. I just quoted that whole article that I happened to think was in Seventeen, and actually happened to be in 'TEEN. Sorry, didn't mean to get you all riled up. God, I'm a dumbass, I feel bad now. But I guess that I just think of all those teeny bopper mags as the same. Shamefully Sorry! Peace Love Empathy Rachel ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 May 1997 23:23:02 -0400 From: Kevin Cornell Subject: fell on black days single Does anyone know if the Fell on Black Days single was realesed in the usa if so were can i get it? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 May 1997 23:49:06 -0400 From: RiTa Subject: who's that bearded man? ;) i've noticed that some people are uspset that some of us are actually taking this chris/liv thing so seriously. well i can't speak on the behalf of anyone but me, so i'll tell you why this pissed me off so bad. i'm not an expert, but i'm pretty sure of the demographics of the subscribers to this magazine: young, impressionable (in other words, need to be TOLD by these mags how to dress, what music to listen to, etc) and most of the time, WAAAAAAAAAAAY to cool for me. (don't fret people, i'm getting to my point!!!) these cool kids see the pictures of chris in the magazines and are instantly titillated, cuz i mean its still chris, look at him for god's sake! they may be turned off by the music however, its far too angry and "like depressing!" and doesn't quite fit with the no doubt and hanson cd's in their already innovative collection. but nevertheless, they call themselves soundgarden fans anyway because: 1.who cares about the music, the beauty of its members is all that matters (look how popular they made bush) 2. soundgarden may stand out in the crowd of other seventeen readers, she'll be "alternative" and "cool". frankly, i could care less who likes soundgarden and why, but here's where WE come in (yes, we). the mindless, spineless, cool reader of teen magazine decides to join the soundgarden mailing list and lo and behold WE have to be subjected to their mindless dribble, i'm sure you all recall the "chris cornell is so hot, i want him, i love him and won't stop until's he's mine" post. i'm sure the genuis behind that one is a direct disciple of teen magazine. and that's why i was so upset to see our beloved boy wonder exposed to all the bed wetters of the world. teen magazine creates the monsters and WE have to put up with it. and not only on this list, at concerts too, "who's ben?" "why's that guy with the beard playing guitar, like i thought chris played guitar" and my personal favorite "Take off your shirt! take off your shirt!!" so loud, i can't even hear them playing... yeah yeah, i know, i take all this shit far too seriously.....;) ________ RiTa ------------------------------ End of SOMMS Digest - 21 May 1997 to 22 May 1997 ************************************************
