Hallo there, I got a new CD from Dr. Disc which is called SUPERUNINTERVIEW. It's all interviews, about 32 of em. A & M even put the same interviews without the questions so they want US the listener to ask the q's. Man, are those A & M employees smooooooth! Its a promo CD and I learned some interesting tidbits: 1. I found out Chris got the name Superunknown, from misreading (he says it was a dylexic moment) a movie tape called Super Clown. 2. Ben had no ambitions for SG (he wants grey hair ???) and this brinks the breakup into perspective...... 3. I got the feeling none of the members wanted to stick around and do an interview :) Well, thought you guys might know... August 1995), maybe Kim Thaily will work together with Hiro. Hiro certainly was open to the possibillity to (he even wanted to) work with Kim in the future. This would be extremly cool, 'cause the only thing I find lacking in Truly, is another guitar. Hello once again to all, here are some random thoughts: After the breakup, I've been listening to UMOK and SL/F. But, the biggest one is Beyond the Wheel (live) off a BHS single . . . it's better than the original! My friends are constantly bombarded by SG. They also make fun of them constantly (to my dismay), just to make fun of me. They think the best SG tracks are Blind Dogs and Head Down. I'm impressed they didn't say BHS, Spoonman, or My Wave . . . Anyone else's friends have suprising picks? In a related matter, You Am I have a new one coming out (or out already). It got a 4/10 in one mag, but another gave it a 9/10. Any word? We all know what Kim is going to do now! He said in the Launch CD-ROM interview if he wasn't in music, he'd go back to school and get his physics degree . . . hmmmmmmmm . . . ************************************************************************* *********************** Mayor McCheese ********************************** ************************************************************************* ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 May 1997 17:09:18 -0400 From: Caryn Rose Subject: Hype! shown on european satellite this information from another list... >Next week (Friday 30 May, 23:00 MEST) the German TV station WDR shows Hype! >WDR can be seen in whole Europe through the ASTRA satelite (11 053 MHz). now, i know nothing at all about this, or about european satellites, so pls don't write and ask me about it ;-) perhaps someone on here who does know what this means can help those out who have questions? --caryn ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 May 1997 16:24:18 -0700 From: Rachel Thompson Subject: Chris in Seventeen Hello all, Today, I went to the library with my friend, as I lazily sat down on the couch waiting for my friend to do some research, I saw a Seventeen magazine. Don't worry, I wouldn't ever actually read it, but I was bored, and decided to see what Seventeen had decided what would be "socially excepted" for the month of April. As I flipped through the pages of the music section, a great pic of Chris caught my eye. Sure some us gals think he's sexy, but I couldn't believe that seventeen would label him as that. Anyway, I ripped out the page, so that I could write you all about what they said about our dear Chris. ******************************************************************************** Celebrity Matchmaker irresistible Liv Tyler + Chris Cornell This month, we hook of the hottest of hotties for a fantasy date. Total fantasy, since she's barely legal and he's already married. But just imagine how gorgeously videogenic their kids would be! Who asks who: Neither, since they're both kinda shy. Their magnetism simply pulls them toward each other. What they wear: Liv's in one of those flowery dresses she fancies. Chris wears jeans but goes topless. Where they go: To catch Silverchair in concert, where they hangout backstage. Who pays: Neither. These two are the queen and king of comp! Their all access passes get them all the freebie food and drink they want. What they talk about: The up and downsides of having your mom (in Liv's case) and your wife (in Chris') as your manager. How gross it is when journalists drool during interviews. Romantic prognosis: There's potential here! For now, they decide to be just friends, but things may change if Chris' marriage goes on the rocks and Liv decides she wants a father figure. ******************************************************************************** So Sommsters, what did you guys think about that? What do you think Chris would say if he saw that? Let me know what you think. What do you think Chris > would say if he saw that? Let me know what you think. i don't know what i find more disturbing, the fact that the editors and readers of seventeen know who chris cornell is, that they put him with liv tyler or that they actually suggested that he would even go to a silverchair concert, much less hang out with them backstage. with articles like this, its no god damn wonder i saw so much "screamers" during they're last tour...hey, i just figured out why chris lost so much weight and decided to spike his hair, he wanted to uglify himself so he doesn't have to deal with bullshit like this. i don't know, maybe i'm taking this too seriously, but if i were him, i'd sue, i know slander when i see it ;) ________ RiTa ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 May 1997 19:55:21 -0400 From: "Carol C." The transitions from the FOP/SL/AMOK sound to the LL. sound to the BMW were marked in the music and the lyrical content. I enjoyed each of these albums because I was able to follow the band as they matured both musically and personally. It only made sense that the music would change as the members changed. US was a drastic change for me from BMW, and it took a while to adjust to it, partially because there was a 3 year lag between albums. However, to date, US is my fad album. Like Seth said, there are some tracks on there that are not as moving as others, but I don't believe they were made for airily (I hope not...) 4th of July makes me unconscious when I hear it. I personally thought it was disgusting. First of all, why in hell, would Chris actually hang with Silverchair backstage, much or less, go to their show? And where do the writers of Seventeen even get off writing stuff about their marriage possibly "on the rocks" What a load of bullshit. I think that we Soundgarden fans actually take this so personally because, first of all we know that this is not true, we care for Susan, and don't go off making up stuff. We know more about Soundgarden, and facts, about them than they ever will. How fucking annoying. But now I know for sure why I never subscribed to Seventeen when I was younger. Someone said that the next issue of Circus magazine is going to have a SG tribute in it. Does anybody know when that issue is due out? I looked for it tonight at 2 places, but I didn't find any Circus magazines. I was just curious. Also, does anybody know if SG's 11/24/96 concert in Nashville, TN was booted? If so, please let me know. This was the concert I *SHOULD* have attended. May Soundgarden be with you. The interview you mention is a borrowed and edited version of the original, which can be found at www.rocknet.com/may96/soundgar.html - as for Anxious, it's just another of what I imagine are tons of songs that never were finalized, and we will probably never hear. seth ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 May 1997 19:26:53 -0700 From: Andrew Dunn Subject: Re: The US/BMW discussion ---- Carol C. wrote: >SAG? I'm pretty knowledgeable in the Soundgarden field, can probably list every song in order and tell what releases they come from, on the drop of a hat, but cannot for the life of me figure out what AMOK or SAG or BMW is supposed to be. If US is supposed to be Upside as in Down on the Upside, the accepted form is 'DOTU', better yet, don't use them at all. How long does it take to write an extra 'P' on FOP? My newest web page "The Original Marilyn Hanson Homepage" finally hit Yahoo! and now I am receiving hate mail after fuckin' hate mail about how I am somehow putting down the band Hanson or comparing them to Marilyn Manson or indicating they are Satanic now or SOMETHING! Please! I finally come up with something original, cheesy-yet-appreciative, and I get crucified for it. You know a week ago there wasn't a single Hanson page on Yahoo! - I found only one on Alta Vista, and that's when I built my page and submitted it. What the fuck? Now several are popping up on the net and it's "WAH WAH WAH" because I "desecrated" them. Now why would I desecrate a band I like? It's like I have this idea for a screenplay which involves Alice in Chains playing at a concert, but in the movie they would be called "Kindergarden" because this is what they were called by critics who thought they were a Soundgarden rip-off. It's trivia, it's funny, and no one is getting hurt. Except me. Oh well, at least they haven't found a way to send sticks-and-stones over eMail or I might actually be worried.
