Anybody want to buy a copy of SOMMS? I was home this last weekend, and stopped in one of the small record shops, and they had a copy. I inspected it, and it was in good shape, and both discs were there. If you are interested, email me. I will take all names until Weds May 21 midnight my time, and do a random drawing. The winner will receive the copy of BMF/SOMMS in exchange for covering the purchase cost, and some of the shipping costs. The price is $40 (Canadian), but once you add in the stupid taxes, it comes to $45.60 (7% G.S.T. and 7% P.S.T.). I have no idea what shipping costs would be. Hi everybody! This is simple enough. Please respond to this and not to another redundant SG/Rush message. ^_^; I've e-mailed Lance, but I haven't heard from him yet, so if anybody has his b-side compilation, would you be willing to make me a copy? Yeah, we'll work out something. Thanks. Also, if anybody's tried to email me for a while, try my address without the "www." OK. Later, Scott Oh yeah, on my sig file's from "Blind Dogs," and I don't care if everyone else says the last word's THINK, I hear WEEP! It's MY reality! ^_^;; -- Dead on my feet while my nightmare walks I fell asleep where the freeway talks Suffer to swim and dying to sink These things in the air will make you weep ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 May 1997 08:30:42 -0400 From: ARIE ELMALEH Subject: Circus magazine tribute Hey everyone, Just thought I'd let you know that there's going to be a tribute to our beloved Soundgarden with pictures from their whole career in the next issue of Circus magazine. In the most recent issue, there's a little paragraph summarizing their career (though I don't know how they can do that in only 1 paragraph), and a beautiful picture of Chris in concert with no shirt. Later, Michelle ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 May 1997 09:08:59 -0400 From: "Christopher M. Farley" Subject: Recording .AU or .AIFF files I saw this band in my old collage town this weekend, The Bob Walters. They were a quasi Nirvana/Seattle/Grunge/Retro thing. They did however do a psuedo old school Beastie Boys thing with samples of all kinds of stuff in it. There was a little sample of spoonman included. I bought the tape and want to send a file to seth to post (Its pretty humourus actually.) .Wav files are just way to big. Where can I find programs to record .au or .aiff files? Anyone... Anyone... ? Chris ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 May 1997 09:10:03 -0400 From: "Christopher M. Farley" Subject: Soundgarden/RUSH If I had to rank my all time favorite bands, RUSH and Soundgarden would be #1 & #2, respectively. I don't hear RUSH in BMF, but I deffinitely hear them in DOTU. Never Named and Rhinosuar have early (74-76) Rush written all over them. That was a pleasant suprise when I gave DOTU my first listen. GoldWave is a sound editor, player, recorder, and converter for Windows 95/NT with built in support for WAV, VOC, IFF, AIF, AFC, AU, SND, MAT, DWD, SMP, VOX, SDS, RAW files. Updates for GoldWave can be downloaded from the GoldWave WWW home page: http://web.cs.mun.ca/~chris3/goldwave I'm curious about the tape. Can anyone tell me something/anything 'bout it? And a second thing; has Hiro commented on the SG break-up? Zubin is right......Kim said this in an interview in Spin magazine after the release of Superunknown (April 1994).....Plus, it also happens to be the magazines 9th Anniversary issue..... Soundgarden made the front cover...... It sports a cool picture of the guys with : "SOUNDGARDEN KILLS GRUNGE DEAD"......I got a copy of it......and if i had a little more $, i'd get a scanner and make it available for y'all, cause it's a cool front page (trust me, i don't say that often). BUT I'M AFRAID THAT KIM HAS BEEN MISQUOTED......HERE'S THE REAL DEAL: Article : Hammer of God, p.36 ".....the first time i ran into Thayil was at a club called the Off Ramp in Seattle a couple of years ago, just after L7 played a set that had grunge kids hailing off the stage like little superballs. Thayil, if i remember correctly, was cradling about 3 Budweisers just in case the bar decided to close before he had slacked his thirts. He decided i looked like a person who needed a drink, and he handed me a long-neck. "So have you heard the advance tape of Badmotorfinger?" he asked. I had. "Sounds too much like Rush," he said gloomily. Thayil raised a bottle and clicked it to mine. "Here's to Geddy Lee," he said........" Well, there you have it people, make up an opinion for yourselves........if you ask me, i don't think that Kim doesn't like Rush, it's just that he was probably concerned about soundgarden sounding too much like another band and not having their own sound...OF COURSE, if you ask me, the album is fuckin great...and they definitly had their own sound.... See y'all later at Edgefest in canada.... Marc Potvin........the guy still searchin his way out of this room a 1000 years wide. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 May 1997 19:46:22 -0700 From: Dave Subject: Soundgarden kills grunge dead I go the cover(Soundgarden kills grunge dead) pic off of Spins AOL site last July I dont know if they still have it, and I didnt save it, I just printed it.
