Pretty cool little book........ I bought "guitar shop" magazine (May) a few days ago and on p. 84-85 there is an advertisment for Mesa/Boogie products. The double spread is of Soundgarden (well Ben, Chris and Kim) on stage with all these superimposed amplifers in front of them. "Check out Down on the Upside on A&M Records" is in the bottom corner and SOUNDGARDEN in written across the top. Are SG sponsored by this company? just wondering ;) If you're a bit of a picture collector, it's a great photo of them despite them cutting Matt out :( fi ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 May 1997 01:33:52 -0500 From: Vince Varkey Subject: Dallas sommsters read (Re: Ty Cobb single) To those of you who happen to be near the Dallas area, Bills Records and Tapes has three copies of the Ty Cobb single, for those of you who were in search of it. It comes in a red cardbord sleeve that looks like it took 2 bucks to make. Anyway, there you go. -vince ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 May 1997 02:45:20 -0400 From: Jenny Grover Subject: questions No one is advocating laziness, but if you have a question to which, after reasonable effort, you have not found an answer, go ahead and post it. There are plenty of knowledgable people on this list who would be happy to take the time to answer it. If anybody pesters you about it, just ignore them. Likewise, anybody who implies that they are a better fan or a better person than you just because they happen to know more trivia. How can you call yourself a product of the '70's and '80' and not haul y our subdivision-raised booty out to gorgeous George, Washington, to see Geddy, Neil and Alex and the rock n' roll splendor that is RUSH? Yeah, I'm letting my freak flag fly, but don't tell me you don't crank the car stereo when KISW starts off a rock block with "Tom Sawyer" -- which, along with "In The Mood", has been heavily sampled in rap tunes. British feedback band Catherine Wheel covered the magnificent "Spirit of Radio"; even Trent Reznor calls Rush an influence. And I expect to see all you Soundgarden guys there as well -- you've got the time, and Alex Lifeson *loves* you guys. ...this was amusing to me especially, since at the hater show last saturday ppl kept yelling, 'How about a drum solo, Matt!" and i finally responded with, "go see Rush if you want a drum solo". [note: this post is not meant to inspire discussion of Rush, NIN or the Catherine Wheel, unless you can somehow link their music to soundgarden's. this just made me laugh when i read it, because _the stranger (local seattle free alternative culture weekly) hasn't had one article about the breakup, they just keep alluding to it in random columns from week to week...] --caryn ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 May 1997 16:15:37 +0200 From: Martin Ander Subject: Re: mesa/boogie Fiona Thiessen wrote: > > To all the veteran sommsters on the list i aplogise if this subject > has come up a long time ago but.... DOTU: Hey Kids, buy this gear! Mesa Boogie, Ayotte..... Both Kim and Chris use (used?) Mesa Dual rectifier amps. Quite a long time ago I mentioned that I could see Chris doing a rendition of The song Trees. I'll stop now. The also showed ancient footage of the band with Jason Everman and an interview with him too. There was: Excepts of people talking about how great they are Interview with Chris (goatee-less) Interview with Kim (with someone beating him at chess) Interview with Matt Interview with Jason Footage of a photo shoot Footage of Chris, Matt and Jason throwing pickles out of a high rise building onto the street Hands All Over and Loud Love videos All videos from BMF Interview with Chris and Ben, talking about Superunknown & FOBD SU videos Pretty Noose live in the studio Excepts from the faked German interview with Eleven's Alain and Natasha Excepts from the Big Day Out interview with Chris Then the 3 DOTU videos. I was wondering, is this a special Soundgarden video, or something the station put together themselves? If they did, they did a damn good job. btw, it's on again tomorrow and I intend to tape it again... "head down" is a song that says - "no matter what you do to me, no matter how hard you try to suppress me... i can't let you. i won't let you. i'm still alive... still laughing, still dancing, still trying, still smiling... and one day i'll be free." "head down" most certainly turns toward the light. ciao... ~Raine, resident x-phile, opinionated brat and crusader against all things politically correct . . . . . . . Here's Johnny!
