Hello.

Sorry if this was mentioned before already, but when SG was on SNL, did
anyone else notice that on Matt's bass drum, it said "Go Sonics" on it? I
noticed it a few days ago, and I thought that it was very cute. Thanks.

Subject: 12 soundgarden videos. I LOVE Rage!

Hi everyone!

Boy, do I feel sorry for you, if your not australian, or you are and you
missed rage tonight. Finally, weeks after soundgarden breaking up, rage
decided to show a collection of Soundgarden video clips. And not just three
or Four, but 12 FUCKIN SOUNDGARDEN viseo clips! I was in music video heaven,
they also played about five pearl jam ones. Anyway, here is the list for
those of you who live in the cable TV land, or out of australia. You see,
this special, was not on cable tv, it was on a government funded channel.

Rage played:

Loud Love
Hands SAll Over
Outshined
Jesus Christ Pose
Rusty Cage
Spoon Man
Fell On Black Days
My Wave
Black Hole Sun
Preety Noose
Burden in my hand.
Blow up the outside world.

And I got them all on video tape! Mine to keep for ever. By the way, dose
anyone know if the My wave Video clip was taken from the same Sg concert as
the one shown in Hype?

Subject: Funny story about Chris

I read this following clip in All-Star Music News:

"Hmmm... Soundgarden's Chris Cornell was spotted recently at Eat A Pita
in Los Angeles having lunch with a man and a brunette woman. The three
ate their lunch, then followed it up with a smoke and some arm
wrestling. One would think that it would be the two men locking arms,
but in fact it was Cornell and the brunette. Although she put up a good
fight, Cornell didn't give an inch, walking away victorious..."

Subject: The Soundgarden Article I Wrote. :))

Well, here it is, this article appeared in the Next section of the
Cleveland Plain Dealer ( See if you are considered a "teenager" they put you
in a section that consists of bad poetry and complaints about school dress
codes. :) Anyways, the editors obviously thought my article was worthy
enough to sit beside this crap. On the front page of the section it has a big
heading entitled, "A Teen Says Goodbye to Group Soundgarden." Im so proud. Oh
yeah, the article. Here goes:
On April 9th, the rock world was stunned by the announcement that
the seminal rock band, Soundgarden had officially disbanded. (Writer's Note:
this next paragraph is kina awkward cause the editors fucked it up.) As a
long time fan of the band, I was greatly saddened by the news of their
breakup. However, I also understand the integrity of the band, and realize
that the members would never keep the band together if they were not happy or
did not enjoy making music together. The only thing a fan can do is cherish
the music they have made.
Named after a wind sculpture in Seattle, this quartet began in
1984 playing tiny clubs and run down bars. After recording three songs for a
compilation disc entitled "Deep Six", (which included other acts such as
mudhoney and the Melvins), the band was hounded to sign by various record
companies. After initially refusing, Soundgarden ultimately decided to sign
with A&M Records.
After releasing "Louder Than Love", its debut album on a major
label, the band was slowly beginning to turn heads and get some recognition.
Labeled as a grunge act by the press, Soundgarden ignored the categorizing
and just kept making music.
By 1992, Soundgarden had gained worldwide fan support. To
promote its third studio album, "Badmotorfinger", Soundgarden went on tour
and hit sold out arenas. The band took a break from a grueling year of
touring and began writing songs for its next album, "Superunknown."
The group received critical acclaim for "Superunknown", and
was now hailed as best hard rock band of the '90's. By winning two Grammys
and an MTV award, for its Beatlesque, "Black Hole Sun," Soundgarden had
finally earned the recognition it deserved.
After taking a break for a few months, Soundgarden released a
self produced album entitled, "Down On The Upside." Despite being panned by
critics, this album still debuted on the Billboard Top 200 at No. 2, proving
that the fans were still listening.
The band would now take on Lollapalooza '96, pairing with
headliner, Metallica. It would mark Soundgarden's second time on the tour
and the first time back since 1992.
During this tour, problems began to erupt within the band.
The tension was so high that members would take different flights to the
venues. Another incident involved one of the members walking off stage. In
addition, bassist Ben Sheperd announced he would be playing in a side band
named Devilhead.
Before bands such as Pearl Jam and Nirvana were even created,
Soundgarden was already making noise. Beginning in small clubs, Soundgarden
defined the meaning of rock. The in - your - face guitar style and intense
lyrics caught a nationwide audience, creating a surge of new bands trying to
imitate the sound of various Seattle bands ( Can we say Bush?>:p).
Is this the death of alternative rock? With pioneers in
alternative disbanding, will copycat bands outnumber the original and
innovative bands?
As the next trend in music leans more towards techno and
synthesizers, I hope that rock fans everywhere will ignore the trend and keep
supporting the bands that defined the words, "alternative rock music."

Okay Okay, I know the ending sucks and I dont like labeling either, but I
didnt have a lot of time to write this, and it took me 2 hours just to write
the first half. :) I geared this article towards the people that have maybe
heard Soundgarden, and dont know that much about them, and this helped me
spread the word of how awesome this band really IS.
